Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

I wouldn't be considered a HUGE fan, but I really like NASCAR. It is great to get over to Daytona to be at the race. NFL season takes priority, so I have not been following NASCAR as much lately. I love that the Daytona 500 and NASCAR kick off just as the NFL ends. :happytv:

NASCAR takes priority in my house until it's done then I switch to NFL. DD's just shake their head at me. I know - redneck all the way! Went to the Daytona 500 a couple of years ago and had a great time, I would love to go to another one and take my girls.(They said they would go to at least one race with me)

Just got some great news.

For the past month, we had been trying to convince my DW's parents to come on the cruise with us. When they finally agreed, there were no verandahs which was a deal breaker for my FIL who loves to sit out and read. We even offered them our room but no go. Thanks to the diligence of our TA a verandah became available this weekend and they went ahead and booked it.

This is very special for us because my MIL had part of her kidney removed in September and it was 50/50 whether she would pull through. After a couple of months of rehab, she now only needs a cane to get around.

With my FIL and oldest DS discussing current events, our cruise dinner discussions will suddenly become a lot livelier.

Glad to hear your in-laws made the decision to join you guys. I know I was super excited when my parents decided to join us.

LeLani, I am dancing for you. While speaking of dancing...What about DWTS? Everybody did such a great job last night. Bristol wasn't even that bad. I enjoyed her Paso, but the night belonged to Kyle and Jennifer. Both danced amazing dances.

I look forward to meeting you at the Hyatt on the 17th.

Lisa - DWTS was good last night. Watching results right now and it's going to be an interesting night. Hope you are feeling better and I can't wait to meet you guys either.

ugh! I just got a PM from Connie (cquick)...they got left off of the fish list. I never got their PM and totally missed their post on the board :sad2: am feeling absolutely sick about it! Please add them to your list (cquick cabin# 6654)- I am updating the listing online right after posting this. Not sure if there are kids in the cabin but I will let you know once I hear back.
If you are short on time, money or materials please reassign my cabin's gift to them. So very sorry everyone and sorry to Connie :guilty: for missing that

Melissa - no worries. You have done a great job on the FE list and I have extras just in case so no problem.

My parents are coming with us, they live in Panama City too. They will be down there part of the week and then come to our house (we live in Alabama) for Thanksgiving. It's prettier down there this time of year, but, alas, hunting season has begun. It was all I could do to get DH and DS to agree to go on the cruise during hunting season!

That's too bad you can't come down to Panama City. Would love to meet you too.

This thread is really hopping today. I think we did nine pages. At this rate we ill have to add a part III.

Off to get DD from dance and I will be back to post some more. Bet ya can't wait!:lmao:

If y'all are going to be there the first part of the week, I can try to hook you up with my parents so you can meet them. My Mom is the pianist at their Church, so they have to stay through choir practice Tuesday night. They are out on the west end of the beach. Have you ever gotten donuts from Thomas' donut shop? They are the best!

@MMI

I am sad to say that we haven't been to BoonDocks yet :guilty: If some of my friends here realized that I would probably have to do the walk of shame...:rotfl2: There are so many good places here to eat that I think it must of fell through the cracks. I have heard its great though! Have you ever tried Captain Andersons? I know thats a popular choice for my seafood loving friends! I'm sure your parents have heard of it!

Our daughter is 3 yrs old and son is 10 months. We are hoping they will both have fun on the cruise and hope to make cruises a family tradition. I saw you mentioned Thomas Donuts. So YUMMY....I wish they made Gluten Free Donuts if there were such a thing..LOL. :confused3

How old are your kids?

:cool1:

I am in my early 40's and having another addition to that next week. DH is 6 months younger. We have a DD9.
DH was a marine and then became a peace officer. I am a peace officer as well. Yes....we met at work.
We live in the Seattle area. I was born and raised in western Washington and DH was a military brat and was in several locations growing up.
We own DVC and love it so far.
We are a dress up family. I also have a side job selling clothing for a designer. Hmmm....job hanging out with women, laughing, drinking wine. Don't tell DH how much fun I have.;)
Favorite part of the cruise is not having to cook, clean up, laundry, making beds, relaxing by the pool, really...what is not to love.
Favorite vacations was honeymoon to Fiji where we went diving. Second favorite was DCL Panamal Canal W/B.
I love reading, scrapbooking and various other crafting things, running or exercising (I know I'm crazy), volunteering, cooking.
Not packed yet, but do have a few things set aside.

We are driving down so we will get in on Saturday and then be there until the following Saturday. My parents live in Niceville so we will be going over there a couple of times, but it would be great to meet your parents. I will PM you with my information and hopefully we can work something out. We will be making our way through Alabama on Saturday, where do you guys live? You can PM me with the info if you don't want to post it here. Haven't tried Thomas' donuts yet, might have to do check that one out.

@LeiLani That sounds great! We have a pretty open schedule that week so if there is a place you guys like to eat we could meet up there. Not sure when the last time you guys were here but the new airport is in the middle of nowhere! :scared1: It is very nice though! If you want feel free to shoot me a PM and we can figure something out! It would be awesome to get to already meet new friends that will be on the cruise!

Hi Christie,

We will get in on Saturday and be there until the 27th. I'll send you a PM with more information.

We were there this summer and went to the airport to pick up DD's boyfriend. Our condo is on Front Beach Road just east of Hwy 79 so it was really easy for us to get to. I like the new location better than the old one.

LeiLani, I'm guessing you guys will be coming down 65 through Birmingham to Montgomery? We are about an hour from Montgomery and will probably be over there Saturday shopping.

Christie, Captain Anderson's is my all time favorite...scamp imperial! We have a friend that has a couple of charter boats, one is at the Treasure ship, have they started rebuilding it yet? They had a great dessert, Koko Mocha Rum pie! As far as gluten free, I don't think a donut could be made without the gluten, at least I'm not sure I would want to taste it.

@ MMI Ha I know right! I don't think a donut would be the same without Gluten. Its taking some getting used to with other things but for the most part things taste the same. My husband is the only one in our family that can eat Gluten and he still has to have some things but for the most part he doesn't know the difference. They haven't started rebuilding the Treasure Ship yet....I think its been going back and forth and last I heard they had decided not to rebuild which is a shame. I drove past there the other day and the area just doesn't look the same without it. I know you probably mentioned it but is this your first Disney Cruise. There has been so much action on the boards today that I don't know if I read that or not..:confused3.

Christie

Oh I know the difference...Just some things don't bother me. LOL

Hi Camie,

Yes, we will be coming down the 65 through Birmingham and Montgomery then we will take the 231 out of Montgomery. It will probably be later on Saturday afternoon when we hit Montgomery. It will depend on how far we get on Friday. We are going to the mid-night showing of HP on Thursday and then DD will go to school half day on Friday so I'm not sure how far we will get, but I am going to drive until I get tired.

Have we decided on a location for our onboard cruise meet on the first day at sea? I'm not doing the ornament exchange, but would like to pop along and say "Hi!"

We are waiting for DCL to confirm the location, should be soon.

Boy - I read the boards as the last thing I did before bed, when I get up, you guys have gone 5 pages!!!!

@LeiLani

I totally agree on the Airport...its a great location with plenty of room for expansion!!!! My parents love flying into here versus when my husband was at West Point for a year...I think Newark Airport gave them a panic attack..LOL!

Christie

Um...honey...I worked there for a year and a half. Don't lessen the torture by shortening the time there. :-D

Is anyone else doing the Creole Fiesta - A Day at Caret Island when we visit Guadalupe?

This is the excursion I'm the most looking forward to. It looks like absolute paradise!

Thanks Joann. I was going to answer that but with all the pages I forgot to go back and do it. This thread has just exploded today!

Lisa - DWTS WOW!!! Couldn't believe it. Will make for an interesting final.popcorn::

We had Mickey call our DD tonight, it was pretty cute, her whole face lit up and at the end of the call she goes "I don't know who that was". Since it's a free service, I am going to do a few more up until we leave.

I have been trying to catch up from a week away and 4 pages have been added while I was reading!!!:thumbsup2 I hate it when I fall behind.

Ok: about us-

I am Angie (46-ugh), DH (45), DS (12) and DS (9). Our family also includes 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and a new Guinea Pig.

I was born in MO, but consider myself a Michigander. I have lived in MO, MI, CT, MD, OH and now MN. My fabulous husband and I met at band camp in 1981! We married in 1995- not dating that whole time! I have a PhD in Pharmacology and an MD. I am a pediatrician in Eden Prairie, MN (and live probably less than 20 minutes from mndisfam-I promise to pm this weekend, Kathleen! Yes we did have almost 10 inches of snow last weekend). I work hard and play hard. My DH is a retired pilot- now SAHD.

I am passionate about my sons; love reading, scrapbooking, skiing and photography. I am big time into Harry Potter and am Walt's #1 fan. I am obsessed with travel. While the rest of you have been on the disboards over the past week, I have been trying to plan a 3 week trip to Alaska this summer :scared1:. I learned how to sew last month when I made our first fish extender.

The picture from the DOTD princesses and the bio from miatamel made me laugh out loud! :rotfl2:

Are you kidding me tinkmischief? I would rather die than not give you and your son a FE gift. Keep 'em coming! :worship:

I am Swedish, but I have recently discovered that DH has at least 3 relatives from the Mayflower (including Oceanus- the only child born at sea!)

I have a ton of favorite vacations- my first time staying on Disney property with my fiancee (now husband) at Dixie Landings in 1994, bare-boating the Caribbean in spring 2009, a Mediterranean Disney Cruise, a weekend with DH in Paris, and my all-time favorite (first of many) 2 week family ski vacations to our new-at-the-time condo in Steamboat Springs, CO. We travel to Disney once a year.

I am shy until I have 2 DOTD's! In fact I will stand in the corner, so please come find me. (I better try to upload a picture of us this weekend so that you will recognize me). We will dress up, although I have gained a lot of pounds in the past year and have no desire to exercise :rolleyes1. I will be shopping this weekend... My spare bedroom is full of stuff for the cruise, but we will not be packed until the weekend before we leave. I will work in the office until 2 hours before our flight leaves.

I can't wait to leave on 12/16! Oh- by the way-the thing that I love the most is to relax with my DH on the cruise and know that my DS's are safe and having a great time.

This was a great idea mndisfam!:thumbsup2
