Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

My husband does not like dressing up. That is one reason he loves Hawaii. He will be in polo shirts and nice pants. He will not be wearing a suit jacket. If I am lucky he will wear a tie for Christmas. My son who is 11 and he will be wearing jeans and polo shirts. I do not think he will dress up. Now for me, I will dress up almost every night. I have lost 90 pounds and have a few new outfits that I am really excited about wearing. I can hardly wait to wear them. My mom will be dressed up every single night. She really enjoys dressing up for the cruise dinner.

I was wondering if all of you think my table mates would be upset if I brought birthday items to the dining room on December 19 to decorate the table for my mom. She will be turning 77 and I would like it special for her. I ordered the cake and thought I would get candy gift bags for everyone at the table and then purchase a birthday table piece and a few other items. Do you think this would offend anyone?

I think this is wonderful and cannot imagine anyone being upset. Word of caution, DH and I celebrated 2 anniversaries on DCL and they didn't get the cake right either time. I'd make sure the dining room person incharge of your area is told more than once before her bday...just in case so you get the cake on the correct date.

:goodvibes I think this is awesome!!! If I was your table mate I would totally even help :cool1:

Wow! :cool1: You are awesome!!!:worship: Congrats on the weight loss!! I can't wait to see your new outfits!

No split for us too now. Numbers are manageable when you see them in black and white. We are prepared for 65. I speak Google Docs very well.

:santa:
I do better with visuals too :thumbsup2

But this cruise, since it is our first Christmas cruise and since we had the worst year ever except for the fact that we all lived through it even though it was shaky at times. Thank you God for coming through for us! :worship::worship::worship: We have decided to go all out. :santa: Fresh new Christmas dresses, suits and ties. We are celebrating our lives and taking pictures galore. The pictures we take Christmas night, we will use for our Christmas cards next year.
I hear you! I was quite ill earlier this year and came close to losing my life. My mom was getting radiation this time last year. I am so happy to be doing this with my folks we are gonna do it up as much as possible too!:cool1::santa:

I agree with everyone else. I don't think they'd mind at all. On our last cruise, our tablemates celebrated the birthday of the great-grandmother traveling with their group, and our kids got a kick out of singing and sharing a little bit of cake. I think most Disney cruisers are happy people who enjoy sharing celebrations...even when they're not their own! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your responses. I will then plan on getting everything for my moms birthday and have it set up on December 19th. I know my mom will really enjoy this little surprise for her birthday. She has only had one birthday party in her entire life and that was when she turned 70 and I had a surprise birthday party for her. So, this will be very special. Thanks again. Has anyone ever ordered the birthday cake from Disney? When I called they told me they had a free cake. Is this cake very nice? Has anyone ever purchased a cake? What it nice?

Wow! Docs already! That means our should make it before we leave! We are always cutting it close because it takes mail 3 weeks to get to us. But that's cool! I can't wait!

Happy Doc Dance!! :dance3:

MickeyTeachers - I *think* the only birthday cake on the ship is the free one. DD5 turns 6 on the day we board and when I called Disney about a cake they said no special cakes could be ordered for onnboard, just to put on your reservation about the birthday and then again remind your server.

Aaron(bigAWL) - I would like to ask a favor(or two) please.

On the first post could you please change the wine tasting event to show that it is Monday, Dec 20th from 1-2pm. I don't have a location yet but when I get one I'll let you know.

Second thing, could you please add a teen meet to the first post. The details right now are: embarkation day (Dec 18th) at 2pm on Deck 10 above the Goofy Pool, starboard side of the ship.(Which I believe should be the same side that the terminal is on)

You can re-word these if you want, I have a tendency to ramble.

Thanks so much!

OK, I'm finally catching back up after a few days off from the boards. I think I got all the new cruisers and changes made to the front page. Please let me know if you see anything that's off.

We are definitely the dress-up types, so we go all out for formal nights. The girls love it... so far.

Has anyone ever ordered the birthday cake from Disney? When I called they told me they had a free cake. Is this cake very nice? Has anyone ever purchased a cake? What it nice?

When we went in 2009, we surprised my DD with celebration for her 15th birthday. You cannot purchase a cake but they do provide a free one. The head server brought out a small but very elegant cake topped with a piece of white chocolate with an image of the Magic & Happy Birthday on it. They made a huge production of it with the entire section singing Happy Birthday to her.

She then asked why I didn't have a cake because we share the same birthday (she was my 30th birthday present). They then proceeded to come back with another cake and repeated the process.

The next night we surprised my wife because her birthday is the day after ours. It became a running joke with the staff that we were just after free birthday cake. :)

Since mid-day yesterday I've ony seen Cats. 9 & 10 available on our cruise. There seemed to be one Cat. 5 earlier, the room next to mine (7084) and maybe one Nav Veranda, but I couldn't get a room # to show.

I think we are going to be sold out. Not sure if my previous cruises were sold out. What does this mean in terms of the pools, etc.?? How crowded will it be? Will we be able to get lounge chairs? Will we have a "DIS" section by each of the pool? On our last cruise, we definitely did - although unofficial. It was so much fun having a big group.

:sad2:

My SIL and BIL, along with a guy here at work who has cruised Disney several times, pretty much told me I HAD to tell DH so he could make some plans, get ready, etc. My SIL also thought it was too much on me to try to get everything done until the last minute. So...I told him and it was a little dicey at first, but I think he's even more excited than I am now!

In fact, he is talking about it constantly - so much so I'm fearful that DD will get wind of the secret - b/c we are still trying to keep it for her.

So, I'm sad :sad1::sad1::sad1: that I wasn't able to see my big secret through to fruition, but it is fun to be able to talk about.

I will always wonder if I could've pulled it off. He clearly had NO clue when I told him.

We've celebrated 2 birthdays on board and the free cake is very nice, but only big enough for about 4 normal servings, or 6 small servings. It was one of the most delicious, moist cakes I've ever had, though! Also, it has a rendering of the ship in white and dark chocolate as a decoration on top - really pretty and tasty too. If I can find a photo of it, I'll post it. I may have to stop by and wish your Mom a Happy Birthday!

Aww tink, I hope everything is better now. When you are struck with medical emergencies, it makes you realize how fragile the world around us is. And you can never have too many hugs and kisses! :lovestruc Sending a big hug your way!:hug::hug:

I am glad that it worked out for you. It is a wonderful feeling to surprise somebody that you love. :hippie: I hope the secret continues for your DD. What is your plan of telling her that she's going on a Christmas cruise. :santa:? I apologize if you already stated it on the boards before, but at times it is hard to keep up.

(((Momssurprise))) It still was a surprise :goodvibes Glad he is giddy about it, too.

BTW - got an email that 20% everything at Disney store and free ship over $75.
