Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

I wasn't sure how to get us added on the list going this Christmas as this is our first cruise. My name is Jarod, My wife is Christi. We have two kids, Son(11 months at time of cruise) and Daughter (3). We are getting antsy for the cruise, any advice? Especially when it comes to formal night(s) and semi formal with the kids?

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Try eBay for toddler and baby formal wear. You can get cute outfits there for not too much.

Check out the first page of this thread. There are lots of activities going on for this cruise - we are an active bunch. The deadline for the FE exchange is tomorrow, so if that's something you'd like to do, let TinkMischief know before tomorrow. (There's an explanation of what Fish Extenders (FE) are on this thread too, if you are unfamiliar with that.)

You'll have a blast!:thumbsup2

Wow! Disappear for a couple days and come back to 11 pages and 13 PMs to read!

These are fabulous:thumbsup2

Also, we had set a Nov. 1st cut-off, I believe, to sign up for the FE group/groups. I wonder if it's possible if, after tinksmischief provides a final participating cabin count, we could set up a poll for voting so that nobody has to read through pages and pages of votes. Just a thought.

That said, though, my vote is for a split.

Thanks! :) I know everyone is antsy for a final count. I do have quite a few new PMs but reading them will have to come tomorrow. I promise the list will be updated Nov 1st and totals given as soon as I can. :goodvibes Not sure about the poll but it's a great idea! I will sure give it a shot!

Welcome  to all those that have joined in the past couple of days! Off to get some much needed rest...in case I don't post in the morning Happy Halloween everyone!!:cool1:

DD's decided Scarowinds would be too scary, so we skipped that last night. Instead, we are just going to Carowinds today, but leaving early to be home in time for trick or treating.

Have a great Halloween everyone!

My goodness, this group is exploding!!! I had to teach at a conference the last couple of days and so many pages to catch up on.

Welcome to everyone new who has joined in the last week!! This is going to be an awesome trip!

Cam Fam-Looking forward to walking/running with you on Deck 4 and the 5K at Castaway. I ran my first 1/2 marathon last June. I signed up again to run next June as well. I am also thinking about one in early May to benefit colon cancer. DH's doctors are trying to convince me to join them. :)

MommyLissa - Thank you for your service! What an awesome way to spend your R&R. My husband was a Marine. Now, both he and I are police officers.

Icesk8ersmom - Where does your DH work. Both myself and DH are officers as well. It will be fun to meet him.

Wings27-We have a DD9 as well. Glad to have you on board!

Everyone, have a safe Halloween weekend!! We all got our pirate costumes this week. So excited for pirate night. Now, just have to find a couple formals for me. DH is going to rent a tux. I have a couple of basic skirts and will just be mixing the tops for the different nights.

It appears our DH's have a lot in common. He was a Marine (once always), and now he is a peace officer for the city of Chino.

I hope everybody has a safe and fabulous Trick or Treat Day. My Halloween will be very low-key. DD will be at a friend's house, and DH is working. I did not even purchase candies. I will be the Grinch of Halloween. I think it is going to be a Harry Potter movie marathon this evening for me. popcorn::

I was at the mall yesterday, and it is decorated for Christmas. :santa: That is bad manners especially before Halloween. We (I) decided not to decorate our home for Christmas. The main reason is that I do not want to get home from a relaxing trip and spend the last few days of my vacation doing laundry AND putting away decorations. :laundy:
What is everybody doing: decorating or not decoration?

Yesterday, there was a fire at DL's Paradise Pier. It does not sound like it was a major crisis. There was a fire in a restaurant's oven. :firefight

I know hurricane season ends at the end of November, but all these hurricanes so late in the season are making me a bit nervous. I hope they are all gone from the Caribbean by mid-December.

Happy Halloween

Take care and talk to you soon.

Things that I am looking forward to: the election (I want it over/ tired of phone calls and commercials); DD's Sadie Hawkins; my sister's birthday; 4 day Veteran's Day weekend, and Thanksgiving in Las Vegas!

Re: XMAS decorations, we've decided not to decorate. We usually buy a "live" tree every year the day after Thanksgiving but I fear it will be a fire hazard by the time we get home from the trip.

:goodvibes Here's to hoping for great weather and no hurricanes :goodvibes

:welcome::wave2:Welcome to all who have joined the thread!!:wave2::welcome:

Icesk8rsMom: I've decided to scale way back on Christmas decorations at home. We won't be putting up our traditional very large tree. Instead it will be a small tree and a few much-loved decorations inside the house. There will be no decorating outside, except for wreaths on the front doors.

I, too, can't wait for the election to be over and done. The number of phone calls this election cycle has gotten to be quite ridiculous!

Happy Halloween, everyone! Does anyone else feel that with Halloween being here today (and gone tomorrow :lmao: ) our cruise is really and truly now just around the corner?

:welcome: Welcome Aboard! :welcome: It's so exciting to see all the first time cruisers. We have such a great group here and this cruise is going to be awesome!

Welcome everyone that's joined up!!!

We've had a great time at our first Fantasy Fest, but we're talking some time out today and walking down to the port to see the Magic. Should be docked here today I think. If we stand there long enough and look longingly enough at it think they'll let us on?:rotfl:

Hi Melissa - I sent one of the PMs to see if I could help out with a taking a poll so just let me know. I know you are doing a great job keeping the FE list and we really appreciate it.

I could do without the Christmas decorations but DD informed me the other day she wants them. So we will be putting them up before Thanksgiving so we can enjoy them for a little while.

I am also looking forward to the election being over -tired of all the phone calls and commericals.:sad2: We are headed to Florida for Thanksgiving - hoping it's warm enough to lay out on the beach.

DD's decided Scarowinds would be too scary, so we skipped that last night. Instead, we are just going to Carowinds today, but leaving early to be home in time for trick or treating.

Have a great Halloween everyone!

We visited Carowinds just a couple weeks ago and they had some really fun things set up for the kids. And the weather was perfect. It should be really nice for you today, too.

The cruise is getting closer and closer. I worked on FE gifts last night and I think I have them all organized. I wanted to make sure I have FE gift for the children and the adults. I think I have it all figured out. Today will be sewing and grading papers. I am glad we have Veterans day off so I can work on Disney Cruise projects.
I went to Coldwater Creek yesterday and they have a really good sale. I was able to purchase a couple of white shirts that I will be able to decorate. Now I need to figure out my husbands and sons shirt for boarding the ship.
I may join the walking group. It depends if my knee is healed. I thought it would be healed by the cruise. I may be wrong.
Have a wonderful Halloween.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :hippie:

Welcome to all the new families! :dance3:

I can't believe Halloween is here, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and then time to cruise!! Since we booked this cruise a year ago it feels like we have been waiting forever! Last Christmas Eve we surprised the kids with the news that we were going on this Christmas cruise. We wrapped up Disney pins and gave them to them. I could not wait a whole year to surprise them.

Finally feeling ready for cruise. Bought dresses for formal and semi-formal nights, dress clothes for boys, pirate costumes ready to go (my DH and I are dressing up too) pirate:, and finally set up excursions and transportation. WooHoo!
Now all I have to do is wait for the final count on FE to get them ready. I am looking forward to our first FE with such a fun group of Disers :woohoo:

I think it is time to start running too! I am contemplating the Castaway Cay 5K. Anyone else running it? Or has anyone run it in the past who can tell me about it?

I hope everyone has a safe Halloween! I have to carve more pumpkins today, since the pumpkins my sons and I carved last week have already rotted...Yuck! :scared:

SwimMama :santa:

Hi Lolobellica - do you want the link for how to make FEs or just more information on them? There is a little bit of information in the FAQ sticky at the top of the main DCL thread page and you can do a search too. If these don't help let me know and I will see if I can find some other links for you.

I can't find the info, I would like to participate in the exchange, but wanted to know the details, like $ and quantity...
Thanks!!!!

By the way, you Texas Rangers fans:
That was our small town of 6,000 hometown boy last night that hit that 3 run homer.
We are one proud community this morning!!
From the front page of msn this morning:
Moreland hails from Amory, which he described (with a drawl) as follows: “Not a whole lot going on …We got a Wal-Mart … We used to hang out in the Wendy’s parking lot … It’s not real big, maybe 8,000 (people).”

In those parts, he acknowledged, Tupelo is the big city.

The highlights will show the swing that made Moreland famous, but the folks in Northeast Mississippi are probably prouder of the eight pitches that came before. Moreland was known for his mettle long before his encounter with Jonathan Sanchez on Saturday night. Now we know why.

We are also doing some decorating but scaling back to just our tree and a few favorites. I love sitting in the family room with just the tree lights on in the evening, so I don't think I could give that up!

We're telling our children about the cruise tomorrow now that we're under the 50 day mark (and into the Christmas list compilation season)! We want them to be excited and to know that those lists need to be a little leaner this year. I made countdown chains for them with a different Disney Christmas clip art picture and the date on each link. When they get to the top, the links are attached to a picture of the Magic. Hopefully, they like it as it took awhile to make three of them (wanted to avoid fights over whose turn it was if they were sharing one chain)!

Even better, I turned in my full dissertation on Friday and will be defending on the 12th with the hopes of graduating on Dec. 11th. Now I'm really ready to plunge into cruise planning! FE gifts...here I come!

Enjoy the day! :goodvibes

Posted the Homecoming pics on my Facebook Profile. I *think* you can see them because I am on the Cruise FB page, right?

Decorations: I bought two really small battery operated trees (one for each stateroom), two small Disney musical snowglobes, and small stockings (just big enough to hold gift cards) that I will hang on the mirrors with suction hooks. That's it for us this year! It feels kinda liberating not having to decorate at home except for a tree. We have never been away from home for Christmas day, it will feel odd for me a bit.

Welcome to the newcomers. I am horrid at keeping up with this thread on an individual name basis, but please know I am very excited to meet you all!

Oh... and... Happy Halloween!

~Lorrie
