Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Hello Cam Fam and MommyLissa!

Lived for many years outside Buffalo and love my visits to Toronto, Tracey, and we have a DD5-almost-6 as well MommyLissa :-)

Caryn

Thanks Caryn - loved one of your earlier messages - you have fond memories of your aunt and many Canadian ads and shopping across the border. Well we are the opposite –every chance we get we shop in the US, taking frequent trips to Buffalo to cross border shop. I have an ongoing US shopping list. As well as Target envy, sounds like we both live the same distance from Target even though I am in a different country!

I also did my Masters in Buffalo and listen regularly to Buffalo radio.

LOL- One of the big things I miss about Buffalo is the CANADIAN radio! CHUM FM and CFNY :rotfl: Needless to say I'd be in serious trouble in TN without satellite radio ... :scared1:

Target Envy is a serious thing indeed. :scared:

Buffalo is a good city for education. I did continuing ed at Buff State and taught at UB and DH got his MBA at UB after his undergard at Canisus.

My gym/walking buddy is down with back problems so I've fallen off the wagon a bit, but plan on getting right back on it Monday.

Just read about Hurricane/TS Tomas and its brushes with Barbados and soon to affect Martinique :sad2:

Wow- I am so excited to see new people continue to come on board! Welcome Cam Fam and MommyLissa! Everytime someone knew comes on, the excitement stirs up again.

Rayna- have you reached tinkmischief yet? I am going to PM her right now for you to ensure that you are on the final FE list. I am willing to go either way with the list for the FE, but now that I think it may be almost 60 cabins, I guess splitting in two would still be great fun!

I am also planning on bringing a little 3 foot Christmas tree (in my suitcase on the airplane :lmao:). Our tree doesn't actually have lights. It has a rotating light on the inside that lights up the branches. I have a feeling that would be ok. Any thoughts? :confused3

We have continued making plans for this trip slowly but surely. We arrive late on Thursday the 16th and will probably get up early and spend Friday at Harry Potter World (surprise for the kids). We then have evening tickets for MVMCP. It will be a long day, but the rest of the trip will be relaxing. Then will take Disney transportation to the cruise on Saturday.

Have a great day :hippie:

Yay for all the new folks on the thread! Welcome!!! We are spending Christmas in the Caribbean!!! I just want to squeal (but Caryns DH might put me in the smoker...and I doubt I'd win a BBQ taste test).

I'm trying to figure out my various shopping and packing lists. Leilani, my suitcases are for clothes and shoes...they will always win the space war, but if I can pick up a cooler and some drinks in Cocoa, great. Not really sure I will even try to mess with it.

Have a great and safe Halloween weekend everyone!

We booked this cruise at the beginning of October. At that point my goal was to read through all of part 2 and then introduce ourselves. Well unfortunately I have been sick most of October and therefore didn't make it through reading as quickly as I had hoped. My husband keeps asking me what page I am on and when will I be making the post? Well today is the day - haven't made it to the last post yet but I am not going to wait any longer!:cool1:

We are me (DW) I am a teacher :teacher: who has always taught grades 4 - 6 and moved to kindergarten this year. I am now catching every bug that is brought in to my room! I am a huge power walker and look forward to joining the walking group, I have completed 8 half marathons, 1-15km race, 3-10 km races and 5-5km races in the last year.

My DH is a pilot for Air Canada and is only able to stay on the cruise until Barbados as he will not have Christmas off this year. He trains for marathons and coaches my daughter's hockey team.

We have a DS -15 and a DD - 12 (yes another 12 year old girl). Both have played many years of rep hockey. My son has left the competitive hockey and taken up tournament golf now, but my daughter continues to be on the ice for hockey 4 - 5 times per week.

This is our 4th Disney Cruise - we were on the Christmas 2004 cruise and look forward to meeting everyone. My DH and kids are heading down on Dec. 16 and I will fly out afterschool on Dec. 17.

We live just outside Toronto.

Welcome to Phil, Tracey, Hilary, and Drew! We have not been on a Disney Cruise since 2008 so the excitement is building! We are also flying in on the 17th too. Where are you staying?

I taught grades 3 -6 for several years before I became a special education teacher. Now, I am an assistant principal at a middle school.

My DD (15) ice skated for 10 years. So we are very familiar with ice rinks and hockey.

Hello everyone! I am currently serving in Iraq, and signed up for this cruise during my R&R leave.... It will be our first cruise for myself, DH and DD-5. We are super excited to be spending Christmas :santa: together and even more excited to be doing it on such a fabulous cruise!

I know that I am late getting into the game, but would love to participate in FE, ornament exchange, meet & greets, etc. etc.

Any advice/contacts/links you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Counting down the days until I take that long flight home.....

:cloud9:

Welcome aboard! Thank you for your service to our country. My DH served as a marine (once always); now, he is a peace officer. This is going to be an amazing cruise. I am glad that you want to participate in our Dis activities. It makes the cruise so much more enjoyable.

I hope everybody is having a great weekend. I had a wonderful Friday night at Glen Ivy. The relaxation package was fabulous. Enjoying Glen Ivy made me anxious for the spa amenities on the Magic. I am trying not to count the days, but it is so hard.

My DD just informed me that she decided to dress up for pirate night. She said that some of the teens on FB are dressing up so she wants to too. We will look for a pirate costume after Halloween. Hopefully, there will be some great deals on costumes after the 31st. pirate:

We are getting ready to go to the mall to get my DD and her friend matching outfits for Sadie Hawkins. It is next Saturday.

Today, I got the final, final items for the FE. :thumbsup2

What is everyone doing with their 4-legged babies for such a long trip? I'm really a bit undone about leaving mine for that long.

I am starting to feel a little guilty about our dog too! The plan is for her to stay 5 nights with my parents & then she will go to her vet/kennel. I am not sure if she is going to do well with the 6 month old pup at mom & dads'. We had him over this week & he teases her relentlessly! She is not agressive, he just kept nipping her. Maybe they will get along better at his house.
We love our dog & I have a feeling the kids may have some withdrawl. I know that she will be in good hands while we are away!:thumbsup2

Has their car air fresheners buy 2 get 1 free. And they have a fragrance called Christmas at the beach!

Dog guilt is a crisis. We are having a dog sitter watch them at the house. Within a month, they will be left alone for about three weeks: a week at Thanksgiving and our cruise at Christmas. We will just have to get them a HUGE treat or two.

:welcome: Welcome Aboard! :welcome: And thank you so much for your service. Make sure you read the first post, there is a lot of information for our cruise there. (Thanks bigAWL!) There is a lot of other information in the rest of the pages on the thread but if you can't make it through all those just ask if you have a question. That's what we are here for.

Since you can't send a PM yet, I will try to make sure tinkmischief knows you want to join the FE.

We are very lucky and have always had a college student that comes and stays at our house to watch the dog. It's really nice because we have someone to stay here at the house and the dog gets to stay in his own enviornment.

I fully understand about the luggage space. Another option that I have done in the past is order a basket from Shirley at "The Perfect Gift". I usually bring on my own wine but I like diet Pepsi so I will order a basket from Shirley and have that included. Might be a little more expensive but it is worth it.

We've been on the Disney Cruise before, it's amazing! We're excited to go for 11 nights!

I have a 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son and we are from Chicago. Are there any meeting groups with kids around the same age? Our kids are looking to meet some buddies to have fun with.

49 days to go - Yes!:cool1:

I'm not sure :confused3 my PMs are not showing in my outbox. Thank you for ensuring were on the list. It's our first FE and were looking forward to the experience :cool1:

Wow! This thread has exploded!

Welcome to all the new people joining us!

It is so fun to have such an active DISgroup and I know it's going to make the cruise even more special.

I just checked out the DCL site to see what cats were open. The only cats open a few minutes ago were cats 11, 9, and 4! Based on that, I'd say the cruise is definitely selling out and hopefully we will all know our cabin assignments within the week.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. We just got back from our church's trunk or treat event. We took our DD and one of her friends and were "trunkers" for the event. It was a lot of fun.

Tomorrow is our neighborhood trick-or-treating. I guess it will be an early night since it's a school night...

Have a good evening everyone!

:lmao: Low and slow helps make the toughest meat tender. But, we're on vacation, so no fear! We are so hoping to find goodies to eat and spices to take home at our island stops :cutie: Got a last minute call to judge next saturday and I am busy with beads for the 11/19 show, so looks like DH will get to judge his first event. :goodvibes

:)
