Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

We've been on the Disney Cruise before, it's amazing! We're excited to go for 11 nights!

I have a 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son and we are from Chicago. Are there any meeting groups with kids around the same age? Our kids are looking to meet some buddies to have fun with.

49 days to go - Yes!:cool1:

Hello Wings! We have 2 boys, 12 & 8. They have no idea about the cruise yet! HMorale has 2 boys also, & we are all from the Chicago region. Welcome! Check the thread, there will be a meet near the Mickey pool on Sat., 18th for kids. :thumbsup2

We have continued making plans for this trip slowly but surely. We arrive late on Thursday the 16th and will probably get up early and spend Friday at Harry Potter World (surprise for the kids). We then have evening tickets for MVMCP. It will be a long day, but the rest of the trip will be relaxing. Then will take Disney transportation to the cruise on Saturday.
:

We'll be at HP in the AM on the 17th, too, :wizard: before heading to CI&S, getting on the list for the early transportation the next AM to the ship, then heading out to dinner with an OLD friend of DH's

:welcome: Welcome Aboard! :welcome:

Make sure you read the first post to see all the meets and events we have planned. There are several kids meets planned for embarkation day for the different age groups. Once most of the plans have been firmed up we can have bigAWL post them on the first page.

Hello everyone! I am currently serving in Iraq, and signed up for this cruise during my R&R leave.... It will be our first cruise for myself, DH and DD-5. We are super excited to be spending Christmas :santa: together and even more excited to be doing it on such a fabulous cruise!

I know that I am late getting into the game, but would love to participate in FE, ornament exchange, meet & greets, etc. etc.

Any advice/contacts/links you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Counting down the days until I take that long flight home.....

:cloud9:

Thank you for your service.
You are going to love your Disney cruise. I look forward to meeting you and your family.
John

Wow... welcome every one of you newcomers. It looks as if we will have a FULL voyage.

I just sent my DD 15 off on her first Homecoming dance. *sniffsniff* Okay, yes I did cry a little. In front of parents!!! How embarassing. She hugged me like 5 times before she left too.

Tonight is our subdivision's Halloween party/trick or treating so I am staying home to give out candy.

I bought pirate costumes for the kids but I didn't dress up last year. Doubt I will this year either.

I am getting Sooooo excited! Have a great weekend all!

I am a huge power walker and look forward to joining the walking group, I have completed 8 half marathons, 1-15km race, 3-10 km races and 5-5km races in the last year.

My DH is a pilot for Air Canada and is only able to stay on the cruise until Barbados as he will not have Christmas off this year. He trains for marathons and coaches my daughter's hockey team.

Welcome Cam Fam!! I am a distance runner too so it will be good talking to you both about our racing experiences as we lounge around the ship carbo-loading. I am definitely going to have to make it to the fitness center this time around to get some mileage in on the treadmill. That was quite the weight gain after our last cruise. Look forward to meeting you.

Okay, dd13 was just asked to go to the Justin Bieber concert with her friend. BUT, it's 12/19 and she doesn't know we're on this cruise. Gotta come up with creative reasons why she can't go. Any suggestions?

On a better note, picked up new Christmas themed FE's.

Can't wait.

Wow, that's a tough one. The only thing I can think of is to tell her you might have plans to do something that weekend but are unsure so you would hate to have her say she can go, then have to back out at the last minute. Maybe contact friends parents to let them know why she can't go.

Couple of thoughts, if she's invited as the guest of afriend, get the mom or dad in on it so she thinks she is going, but they invite someone else. If she is being asked to buy her ticket tell her you already have a ticket for her but wanted it to be an early Christmas surprise. Then at the last minute you can tell her the actual tkt is for the...Disney...cruise.

I feel your pain. I've managed to avoid this round of teen concerts but when the older kids were growing up I did see Britney, The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync (loudest concert I've ever been at and I've seen AC/DC and Van Halen).

Your best bests are:

1. Maybe they won't still be friends by then. That happens a lot at that age.
2. Mayber Bieber fever fades by December.

But if all else fails, just say "You're not going because I said so." That was always my parents best reason.

What an amazing way to spend your R&R. So happy you'll be joining us! :yay:

I know how you feel. They grow up so fast. Last year DD attended her first school dance with her BF at the time. I cried like a baby (my DH said that he had something in his eyes).

Please post pictures.

Have fun trick or treating tonight.

Wow, that is a tough one. DD went to his concert last Wednesday, and she is still talking about it. I think she said, "It was amazing." Is this her first concert? If so, it would be easy to tell her that you are not comfortable having her go to a concert at 13 without you. You can even say that you will try to get tickets and wait awhile, then tell her it was sold out. You can even tell her that you will make it up to her with a Disney cruise. LOL

Good luck with this situation.

FE...Themed? I am lucky that I was able to pull something together let alone try to develop a THEME! My hat is off to you.

We are in suburbs, north of Chicago. What about you guys? Is this your first cruise?

My goodness, this group is exploding!!! I had to teach at a conference the last couple of days and so many pages to catch up on.

Welcome to everyone new who has joined in the last week!! This is going to be an awesome trip!

Cam Fam-Looking forward to walking/running with you on Deck 4 and the 5K at Castaway. I ran my first 1/2 marathon last June. I signed up again to run next June as well. I am also thinking about one in early May to benefit colon cancer. DH's doctors are trying to convince me to join them. :)

MommyLissa - Thank you for your service! What an awesome way to spend your R&R. My husband was a Marine. Now, both he and I are police officers.

Icesk8ersmom - Where does your DH work. Both myself and DH are officers as well. It will be fun to meet him.

Wings27-We have a DD9 as well. Glad to have you on board!

Everyone, have a safe Halloween weekend!! We all got our pirate costumes this week. So excited for pirate night. Now, just have to find a couple formals for me. DH is going to rent a tux. I have a couple of basic skirts and will just be mixing the tops for the different nights.

We also have a DD9. Send me a PM and the girls can e-mail before the cruise. Also, don't miss the kids' meet on the first day by the Mickey Pool. My kids will either be covered in ice cream or in the water! :lmao:

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: to all the new folks! DH (BigAWL) will update the front page later today. He's busy trying to make spooky pancakes for our halloween brunch after church today. :thumbsup2

Don't forget everyone that the last day to sign up for the Fish Extender exchange is tomorrow! :scared1: Follow the instructions on the first page to ensure that you are signed up!

We should also be getting confirmation for our DISMeet in the next couple weeks. I'll be confirming that with everyone as soon as DCL gives us the location. That will also be our ornament exchange! No need to sign up, just bring an ornament from your hometown (or whatever you think is cool).

As for four-legged kids - our kitties will stay home and our nanny will come in everyday to check on them and give them some love while we're gone. But we'll be gone for 5.5 weeks in total this time. I don't fly 24 hours for less than 2 weeks! We will be getting a puppy next year. DD7 has asked for one for Christmas. She'll get a picture of it on the ship and it will be old enough to leave it's mommy when we get home from our trip. We're very excited, but the kids don't know yet. ;)

Getting excited! Just have to survive the month of November at work. My Deputy is on his R&R back to the U.S. for the entire month, so I'm completely on my own.

I wasn't sure how to get us added on the list going this Christmas as this is our first cruise. My name is Jarod, My wife is Christi. We have two kids, Son(11 months at time of cruise) and Daughter (3). We are getting antsy for the cruise, any advice? Especially when it comes to formal night(s) and semi formal with the kids?
