Magic Bands not working?

I just read on facebook that magicbands are not working. To buy anything at the parks right now requires manually reading the numbers from the band and filling out paperwork! Pack your credit/debit cards to parks.
 
That's got to be a disaster! I'd be more concerned with those fastpasses I booked 60 days out. And getting back in my room - the front desks must be a mess too.
 
We just left lunch at Sci Fi. I wanted to do a room charge but was told the room charge computer was down. Waitress said they could call to the resort for a verification if I wanted. I just used my credit card coz it was gonna end up there anyway. I just assumed it was only theirs with the problem.

Got in our room with no problem. Band worked fine for that. Also did not see any backup in the YC lobby desk.
 

What is with IT lately?? I know its typically mediocre at best to begin with, but it seems to be a bigger mess than usual.
 
It's frustrating. We linked our parks tickets properly yet 5 of our 6 park days resulted in getting a CM to clear us at the entrance. With FP many of the CMs just waved us through when scanner wouldn't turn green because it was causing line congestion.
 
Wonder if this has anything to do with all the Ransomware attacks across the World today? Or is it just a typical Disney outsourced IT Friday? :crazy2:

We can say it's outsourced all we want, but that sure doesn't explain how DH has so many former colleagues (who run away from me bc they know I have opinions*) who work Disney IT here in Seattle...

It's not necessarily the individual IT people that are an issue. It's the organization as a whole and the management. Also, if IT is not given the resources, ie money, people, and equipment, to do a proper job, then Disney is to blame. Plus, "outsourced" doesn't necessarily mean a foreign country. It could just be contractors or a contract house in the US. However, when entire organizations are not part of the company and don't have the fiscal and emotional investment in the company for which they are doing a job, it can cause quality issues.
