Magic bands needed for pool access at AKV and WL?

So, we have a weird situation for our upcoming trip. It is myself, DH and 4 adult kids. At AKV we have a 1 bedroom at Kidani and a studio at Jambo for 3 nights then we move over to WL. At WL we have a 1 bedroom at Boulder Ridge and a studio at Copper Creek. I think the family will take turns at each pool. Will our magic bands allow access?

I don't see why not since it's essentially the same resorts both times. It's not like you're staying at WL but trying to access the pool at the Poly.

Are you saying it is concurrent stays? So all 4 rooms will be used by different people for the same length of stay. If this is the case then Disney’s pool rules say only those on the room at that resort will be allowed access to the pool. So therefore only those people will be granted access through magic bands. Unfortunately also those two resorts are on the pool hopping lists of pools not allowed.

Now I might be wrong on what you saying couldn’t tell if you meant what I said or a split stay.

The part I bolded is the confusing part. If your whole family is staying at Kidani and Jambo together, then you all can use all the pools there since it is considered one resort. If your whole family is then moving over to BRV/CCV, then everyone can use the pool at BRV/CCV, and the main WL pool because they are all part of the Wilderness Lodge complex.

Yes , this is what we are doing, sorry for the confusion.

Glad it wasn't me that was confused! I suspect the OP is planning on cancelling one of the sets of reservations (either AK or BRV/CCV) but maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I have one question, is it now illegal to pool hop? Except during very busy times it was perfectly acceptable to go from one resort to another and use their pool, except BCV.

Pool hopping is still allowed although there are restricted times. AKV pools have not allowed hopping since AKV opened so at least a decade. WL pools became restricted when they added CCV. PVB pools, BLT pool are also restricted from hopping. And a couple other hotel pools are restricted too.

It looks like every Resort built from AKL to the present. I guess they really don't want you pool hopping .

Pool hopping is not available at the following pools—with no exceptions to this policy:
  • Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort
  • Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney's Beach Club Resorts
  • The leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas
  • The Lava Pool and leisure pool at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
  • The Copper Creek Springs Pool at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
  • The pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort
  • Boulder Ridge Cove Pool at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

They should just stop pool hopping altogether. It's far too complicated to remember it all, and from what I hear there are far too many locals exploiting this feature at the ones that do allow it.

I think the locals aren’t exploiting pool hopping (as this is a DVC members only thing). I think stopping pool hopping won’t stop locals since they aren’t exploiting pool hopping they are just pool crashing (and Disney can easily tell the difference with that). Plus many resorts have moved to magic band access now. As for it being hard to remember the website is pretty straightforward on what is allowed.

My thoughts are my own. No need to shoot them down. My reasoning:
Yes, it is complicated. No I'm not going to whip out my phone to find out which pools are hoppable, because I don't hop anymore specifically for this reason.
Yes, the locals ARE pretending to be DVC. Had one group so much as tell me so when they bought their DVC magic bands in the store last december. The CM did not check if they were members, and they said they were good for showing the lifeguards if they ask. (again, yes, I know they scan... but also knowing some lifeguards at WDW, not all really care to).

That is fair if they are posing to be DVC members. I would agree CM should be trained better to capture those situations. I just think that locals would just find other ways to pool crash. I didn’t mean to offend just to share my opinion that it isn’t because of pool hopping that locals are crashing. They are crashing because they want to crash (as you suggested perhaps they use DVC as a method and maybe getting rid of it might resolve it). As for the complication I hate for Disney to kill a perk some might use because it is complicated.

I'm sorry I bit... been a tough week.

No offense taken on my end, open dialogue helps solve problems (but requires Disney to then listen to our feedback and problems we see as guests). I hadn’t heard of people trying to use DVC bands to fake membership. I’ve learned something.

It's common practice to try and get discounts too. Those DVC sliders are hot ticket items on ebay for a reason.

I only bought in 2009 and even then it wasn’t allowed to just pool hop anywhere.

And hopping is allowed to plenty of pools. I’m here now and I know we’re planning on Luna Park today or tomorrow.

I don’t bother trying to remember. I just look it up.

Hmm. Not the choice I’ve made.

The “locals” I know are too cheap to buy bands, lol, so I’m not sure which subset of locals that was. Or maybe I know the odd subset!
