Magic Bands 101

Bands come about a month before. We had AP vouchers that needed to be traded for tickets, but the vouchers had a number on the back of them. We marked each voucher with a name then linked that number to that persons band with no problems! And they worked at all the parks.

Disregard...I'm now finding posts on this topic.

Apologies if this has already been asked, but my eyes can't handle looking through the 31 pages of this thread. :)

We are staying offsite for the first three nights, then at POFQ for 4 nights and will be receiving magic bands with 6 days of park access. I know there's a great thread saying that you can pick up tickets at Guest Relations up to 3 days prior to the beginning of our resort stay. I have successfully done this in the past, so I know it works. My question is how to do this with Magic Bands. I presume the same procedure applies. Can anybody confirm this?

Many thanks!!

We are starting our trip at the Dolphin for 1 night and then changing to BLT. Can we use our magicbands to enter the parks before we get to BLT or do we need to use the AP cards before BLT?

As long as your APs are linked to your MDEx profiles you will be able to use them for park entry before your WDW resort stay begins. You would also be able to use them for same-day FP+ selections but you also have that ability staying at the Dolphin.

I am a DVC member staying at AK. We were invited to participate in MyMagic+ testing. There are 6 of us traveling in our immediate party. However, we are traveling with another 4 family members who are staying off property. I called DVC member services and was told that I could get magic bands for all 10 of us in the party. I went into my my Disney experience account and I was able to order 6 bands for the people traveling in our immediate party. I then tried to order 4 bands for the other people traveling with us but the web site told me that wasn't possible.

Does anyone know if I can actually get bands for the 4 people staying off property or was I told incorrect information?

If I can order them, any ideas how I can do it?

Thanks!Q

Unfortunately, you cannot. Off-property guests are not eligible for. Magic Bands.

Do you have to have an on property ressie to get a band? What if you are an annual pass holder? Shouldn't you be able to get a band?

At the moment, only onsite guests get them. AP holders will get them eventually.

At this time, only those who stay on property can get Magic Bands - to the best of my knowledge. I would love to be wrong as we are vacationing with family who is staying offsite, while we are staying on. As AP holders, once you've stayed on property - even for a night - you'll receive the bands and be able to use them any day after that for fast passes, even after your stay.

Gotta say, I LOVED those magic bands. They made things a lot easier along with arranging FP+ in advance and being able to change the plans with the Disney Experience App. We had NO problems with the magic bands at all. Our 5 year old grandson want to keep messing with his the first day, but other than that it was a fantastic experience! Whoever dreamed them up and designed them deserves a raise IMO:thumbsup2!

We are planning on staying off property the first two nights. We want to go to a park the day before we check in at a Disney resort. Can I use my magic band to get in to parks the day before I am staying at a Disney resort? If I book a room only reservation and buy my tickets from Undercover Tourist, will I get magic bands? Also, which resorts do I need to stay at to get magic bands?

Magic band availability is linked to your resort stay so you will receive magic bands for ANY on site resort stay independent of park tickets. And yes, you will be able to link your UT tickets to the magic bands for park entry. Once linked, you will also be able to schedule FP+ but for now, not until you on site stay begins. Since your magic band is "active" as soon as it arrives you should be able to use it for park entry prior to your on site stay but I will let others confirm.

I called and asked how on site and offsite guests can get fast passes together. The only way that would work for sure is to have room only reservations and get separate tickets, like those that stay offsite buy. Everyone would then have to go to a kiosk together upon entering the park. She did say guest relations might be able to help us, but I can't imagine how long that would take in the morning at the park. I guess we'll try the guest relations at pop, but I don't hold out much help. Glad we're going at a downtime of year!

This has probably been asked before...so I apologize in advance.

Do you have to link all tickets before you customize the color of your band? We are renting points this year, so we currently have room reservations, but no tickets yet. We just got our information flash drive in the mail and were told we can customize our bands now....I'm just afraid to because we do not have tickets yet, and I don't want to run into problems later trying to add them....I really don't want to end up with a gray band.

Has anyone had any problems? Please help!:worship:

I think you only have to have tickets linked to your account to schedule fast passes, not customize bands. But I'm not positive, so I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks so much! I can rest a little easier now. :)

Does anyone know if I can link a Disney Rewards Redemption card to our magic bands and use those dollars before using the credit card that is already linked? If so, how do I make that happen? Would love to take care of this before we leave on Monday.

You will need to go to the Front Desk and have the CM apply your Rewards Dollars to your account. The same is true for Disney Giftcards.

I've read only about half of these posts, so forgive me if this has already been answered. It sounds like I will be sent a MB automatically because I have made a room reservation and renewed my annual pass. And it will be gray. Is this correct? I am not interested in having a MB and don't need FP+ so was planning on ignoring the whole thing. Is a MB going to be sent to me anyway?

Yes, it is my understanding that you will be sent a MB and it will be your room key. My wife is attending a conference at CSR, no parks or anything else, and she was sent a MB.
