Magic Band vs Magic Band 2

Looking to buy some Magic Bands for our upcoming trip in October. My DD wants an Anna one, but I can only find it in the "original" Magic Band. Will we miss out on anything by not having a Magic Band 2 for her?

The new magic bands are more comfortable to wear. When we were there last month I was surprised at how many people were wearing the new bands. But they work the same as the old bands.

I would wait. They've been re releasing the bands in 2.0 (you'll see that there's a new elsa). You have 5 months, you don't need to order bands yet.

I love my Magicband 2. I have cough 3 cough of them now. They just released an Elsa on in Magicband 2. I haven't seen anything regarding an Anna one though.

I know I'm dredging up an old thread here, but why do we love the MB2? Is it as said above .. that it's more comfortable? I'm just trying to decide on getting some MBs on the Disney Store website, and the MB1 are on sale and generally cheaper, and quite honestly, I'm buying these for one-timers, so I'd like to get something nice but that is cheaper. So, unless there is any actual advantage to the MB2 (i.e., MB1 eventually just won't work), then I'm probably going to get those.

The biggest advantage is the ability to not have to wear it on your wrist. For me I still wear it on my wrist but enjoy the MB2 better because it feels thinner and more comfortable.

Counterpoint: I like to wear watches and don't like anything on the wrist of my dominant hand. The original MagicBand co-exists with a watch much better on my left wrist than a MB2 does because the MB 2 is much wider and its widest point is the same as the widest point of the watch face. This puts the MB2 uncomfortably pressed into my wrist joint. For that reason I prefer to wear one of my 12 original MagicBands instead of one of my 5 MagicBand 2.

As Disney Resort guests we will be getting new bands for our October trip. I still have my old MB1 that is a few years old now. My wife and son bought new MB1 bands early in 2016 with Pooh and Kylo Ren designs. I assume they can link to either their new ones (which will just be solid color) or to their older MB1 Pooh/Kylo bands, and the functionality will be the same, right? I'm fine with using either my old or new one, but I worry that the battery might die in the old one since it is a few years old.

There are 3 versions in a way.

MB 1: First size relatively rigid
MB 1.5- softer and much more comfortable to wear, launched in approximately early 2016 when purple came out https://www.disboards.com/threads/noticeably-thinner-more-flexible-magic-band.3474859/
MB2.0- New shape, just as comfortable as MB 1.5 because they're a bit more flexible than the original. Previewed in late 2016, starting shipping late 2016 to AP holders and early 2017 to guests

I know I'm dredging up an old thread here, but why do we love the MB2?

I am pretty sure you can also reuse the MB2 bands with a new RFID puck also. With MB1, once the battery dies, it is done fully functioning. Can anyone else confirm this? I never had an MB1 but I know the RFID puck is interchangeable/removable in the MB2. If I pay for a special band, I want the benefit of reusing it later if the battery dies.

With MB1, once the battery dies, it is done.

The only thing it's done with is remotely capturing photos and anything long distance. It'll still scan at tapstiles and doors and room charging etc.

In June (2017) we used our old MB1s from 2015 and they worked fine.
