Thinking of booking a throwaway room, but hoping to never actually check in, which means I wouldn't be able to pick up our Magic Bands at check-in. We have ones from our last trip, so we don't NEED them, but still! Is it possible to get MBs shipped to another address in the US (like to a friend), who can then forward them on?

Good grief for the love of Pete be careful where you post this ... you'll liable to get some folks mighty ticked about the whole "throw-away" room issue .. BUT if you go through with it, you'll need to somehow set up an account with a different address .. not sure if you can just go in and change it till the MB ships?? ... and if you do that, sure, no reason why you can't have someone ship it to you once they get it.

I'm curious about this too. Maybe call and ask, leaving out the part about the throwaway room, lol. Just say you're Canadian and can you have your magic bands shipped to a U.S. address. I mean, if you were arriving super early and want to go straight to the parks and not detour to check in at your resort to collect the MBs, say.

Well, so I just booked and input my friend's address as my shipping address and that seems to have worked. We'll see in about 2 months whether they actually arrive, or whether they go to the address I have on my file (my own). But it asked me twice to verify my shipping address, so hopefully.

Oh my! Especially on the Canadian forum where so many of us are trying to scrape together Air Miles points just to pay for a Value room vacation. Why when our dollar is in the dumps would you ever want a throw away room? I'd batten down the hatches. Man alive.

I dont get it .. whats the point of a "throw away room" ??
I'll let the OP answer this if they want. However, sometimes guests wish to stay off site but still have the benefits of ADR 180+10 days booking (advanced dining ressies) as well as FP+ selections for attractions + magic band by booking one of the least $ rooms at WDW. Sometimes that's at an AS Value resort for a night. Usually, its a Ft. Wilderness campground spot. And usually, they have no intention of actually sleeping in that room.

I had my MBs shipped to an address in NY. I didn't have to change my address in MDE - there was a separate spot for the MB shipping address.

When I brought the bands back to Canada, the customs agent wasn't sure how to deal with them. I had only been in the US for an hour (so no duty free allowance) and I didn't have a value for the bands to declare. Eventually, the agent decided I didn't need to pay taxes. (I had the same agent a month before who also didn't know how to handle the $800 in Disney gift cards I had purchased at Target.)

I won't be able to confirm whether they ship. I cancelled the throwaway room and am doing a proper split stay, so will just pick up our MBs on check-in.

I had my annual pass MB's shipped to my friend's mom in Missouri. My friend goes home at Christmas to visit, and she brought them back for me. There was no issues with the delivery.

PensFan, a throw away room is basically cheating to get ADRs, FastPasses and free MagicBands that you're not entitled to unless you stay onsite. I'm sure it's also one of the reasons why Disney is now talking about charging a $15/night resort fee to cover the cost of these things - because it's costing Disney money.

Why did you declare them?

I have a Nexus card and was crossing at the Nexus-only bridge (the Whirlpool bridge in Niagara Falls). I'm not willing to do anything that may result in the loss of my Nexus card. Any minor infraction results in a person's removal from the "trusted traveler" program.

That makes a bit of sense, however since Disney doesn't give a value to them that we actually know of then it kind of falls under the category of being a gift. Unless they send a receipt with a cost for them with them.

I see, guess I don't think like that! It seems very tacky and tasteless IMO, and as noted leads to changes that affect the people whom actually stay on site and not try to take advantage of the on-site benefits.
