I'll post a more detailed trip report later but thought I'd get a few things out quickly for those about to leave on trips.
First things first, we're a couple in our 30's no kids - and this was the best vacation we've ever had. We were married at disney two years ago and this cruise was our deferred honeymoon.
First the suggestions.
1. Couples with no kids - do the late dinner. Catch the 6:30 show, dinner at 8:30 and then the "adult" show at 10:15 at Rockin' Bar D. It's a great flow.....
2. Bring a night-light for the bathroom. The only light in there is about 500 watts and you'll blind yourself and then crash your shin getting back into bed.
3. As another post states - grab at least one chair at the adult-only pool. People are reserving them early early early.
4. Go and STAY at Serenity beach at Castaway Key. We stayed for a while and then went to the regular beach as it was our first time. We wished we had just stayed put.
5. Don't go crazy on the excursions. You may be better off fending for yourself - taxi, etc.. We liked our excursions but they are expensive and you spend a lot of time "traveling" and not enjoying.
6. Skip the tux. Some people wear them but you'll be better off with a black suit and a few fresh shirts.
7. If you need to check emails for work - buy the week package at $89. It's hassle-free and you won't forget to logoff and get hit with a huge bill. (I saw this happen.)
8. Skip the navigator verandah if you can. Pay the extra for the Cat 6. If you can afford it it's a huge difference.
9. A BIG ONE! Bring locks for your luggage. The ONLY downside we had - and it left a sour note at the end of a "magical" vacation.... was that we had some sentimental costume jewelry stolen from our luggage. We packed the night before and had to get some traveling clothes out of our suitcases Sat afternoon before checking luggage at the airport and we found that a bag with a neckless my wife wore to our wedding was stolen from our luggage. All of our real jewelry was in our day bag, but someone got about $150 in costume jewelry that was worth way more to us. I'd have written a check for much more to have it back.
10. Settle your bill (if you want to use leftover travelers checks) Friday afternoon. Friday night is nuts at guest services. You can always have them charge last minute things to your cc.
Anyway, it was a great trip and we look forward to many more. I'll post more later.
