Made using Sure Cuts Alot

If I understand this correctly we need to make sure our bug is upgraded to 1.1 using the Design Studios Trial

Then we need the Sure Cuts A lot program.

My DH found me the correct cord to connect the Cricut to the computer.

I can't try this now I have to go somewhere. I hope to play with it later. Maybe I can make something for the Magic Kingdom swap. I sure hope it works with my MAC!

THanks for sharing, your stuff is cute! I love them both.

I know the Sure Cuts Alot software is compatible with Macs, but the Design Studio Trial isn't. So you will have to find a friend or family member with a PC and the trial software to get your Cricut firmware upgraded. Then you can go back to your Mac and get the Sure Cuts Alot software and cut to your hearts content.

Does the Sure Cuts a Lot work with a PC? I have the Design Studio trial version on my laptop. I'll have to find a cable and upgrade my bug.

Okay, you've totally convinced me. I went to the website (and the forums) and saw all sorts of amazing examples that I would love to create. The only problem is I know once I get this I will get nothing else done because I will want to play with it. Once I finish up some other projects, this is first on my list! Plus I have to figure out where I hid my box of "computer stuff that I don't know what to do with but can't throw away." I'm sure there's an extra USB cable in there!

If this cures me of my Cricut cartridge addiction (and I am a font girl) it will be worth every penny!

It sounds like you are a girl after my own heart!! I have been dying to play with it all the time since I got it but with a 23 month old my time to scrap is limited. And I LOL at your box or computer stuff reference 'cause that's where I found my cable too:lmao:

I am a font girl too and now you can match a font to any type of project you are doing (mostly for free too!) I was always getting frustrated having to "settle" for one of the font cart's that didn't totally fit my design.

Glad to have convinced you and I can't wait to see what you create!!

I've managed to fight the temptation to purchase a cricut. I marveled at my steadfast resolve to not join the craze...

Then, there was this thread.

I need to be able to use my fonts...

So, I will resolve myself to buying a cricut...

And then I will join the Ban

That is so cute! I just went to that site last night and got a bunch of fonts...have to unzip them still. Do you happen to remember which one that mickey head is in? :goodvibes

Really cool...am real excited about using SCAL but can't seem to register my copy or weld even though I purchased online in the wee hours of the night last night...did you have problems registering??

No, but I remember there was one piece of info you needed to register that came from the email they sent and one that was on the purchase confirmation page on the web site.

Thanks....I'll try again..I've tried with my name, activation code and serial code and still haven't had success...shame there is no telephone support so I'll have to wait for them to email me.

Finally got it to work after typing in the info instead of cutting and pasting so if anyone else has a problem try that.

So I have the Cricut software already, and was sucked into buying the SCAL software too by you evil people. ;) I've already installed & used the Cricut software, will both softwares work together okay, as in, will I have to uninstall one to get the other to work or can I leave them both installed?

I downloaded the trial version just to see if I could figure it out easily enough and I did. This thing is awesome!

One question I have right off the bat. Do you always have to have a Cricut cartridge in the machine? I couldn't figure out how to load and unload the mat if I didn't have one in there.

I saw the forums, but the FAQ and Help section didn't have too much helpful info.

Now to start sorting my Fonts. I have a Font Manager program so I can do it, but it's just such a daunting task (I have about 800 fonts in my computer, or as I like to think of it, 800 new Cricut cartridges:banana: ). I actually had it done once, but when a virus ate my hard drive the Geek Squad restored all the fonts, but not my collections. Now I just end up using the same ones over and over again.

You do. I was confused by this for a while too. It seems like something they should make clearer, don't ya think?!?

Also, how did you have your fonts organized? I am building my collection (I have 240) and the mac comes with a good font organizer but how do I categorize them? (KWIM)

Exactly! A simple mention would have saved me quite a bit of time!

The categories I currently have (not finished) are: 70s, 80s, Adventure, Animal, Childish, Circles, Disney, Elegant, Food, Handwriting, Letters inside graphics, Loopy, Love, Outline, Print, Scary/Gothic, Script, Signage, Specific Brands, Stars, For Titles Only, Typewriter, Unusual, Very Plain, Western, Winter. Many times a font will be in multiple collections.

Could someone explain this program to me, like what it does, why I need it, ect. I have the regular Cricut and I've only used it a couple of times so I'm new to all of this! I'm also a Mac user.
