Made it to the Fort, backed in and broke

We will be coming to the Fort in December with a new-to-us MH with three slides. You can bet I am checking my slides often before this trip. Best of luck on the repair and hope you are at least enjoying the other parts of your trip.

Thanks for all your replies. Camping Connection came out, got the slide straightened and in (but not locked) so we can drive it.

We went to Lazydays and they made us an offer we couldn't refuse on our full wall slide. Great trade in amount and super price. After a lot of nail biting we just gave a down payment on a 2011 Tiffin Allegro Bus at a super deal. The only bad part is that our new coach will not be ready for us to drive home on Sunday. We"ll be back in a week or 2 to pick up our new coach.

Overall, a happy ending to a bad start of a vacation. Now we owe the kids a Disney do-over as they missed 2 days in the parks this week while we dealt with the breakdown and new purchase.

I know after driving 22 hours straight through to the fort, only to have a lift cable snap on my pop up wasn't a great start for one of my stays also. And you were right, in the panic attack, the front desk wasn't a great help. After $350 we had a 2x4 strapped to the side of the camper, and were off to the parks. Remember a bad day at Disney is still better than a good day at most other places.

I was that way going from my 2001 Monaco to the 2014 Sanibel 5er. But 1k miles towing so far and a couple weekends in the unit and I am so happy I made the move. I am now under the 60 day mark for my arrival at FW. It's going to be exhausting getting there as I have my nieces sweet 16 to attend on sat afternoon, then 0500 the next morning hitting the road southbound.

Congrats on the new rig!

May your trip home be uneventful and your pick-up trip be safe and fun!

And may your next trip to the Fort be filled with much more pixie dust!!! pixiedust:

I am sure we will be equally happy with our new bus. I am just sweating having to come back down for, and my hubby is sweating the payments. But for the travel plans we have, it will all be worth it! Thanks for all the positive responses. I hope you have an awesome trip, and safe travels!

Thanks!!! We need all the pixie dust we can get after this week!!!

1) Glad things worked out well for you and the family.
2) I may have to bookmark this post for future reference.

3) I can see it now . . .
. . . "Hey, dear . . ."
. . . "We have a slight problem with the tent flap."
. . . "Let's make a call and see if the door flap on a BUS is better."

LOL! For what it is worth, before buying this coach, we almost bought a brand new Tiffin. We backed out of the deal in panic over the cost. :scared1: Now that we know how much we love the RV lifestyle, we have buyers' remorse over backing out of that deal, so upgrading was an idea we had bounced around before we even left NJ, not just a spur of the moment thought. This broken slide was the straw that broke the camel's back and spurred us to jump!

I have surely been 'feeling' your pain. A similar thing happened to us 3 years ago. We were away from home with our HR Diesel and started having problems, went to a nearby dealer, and long story short, THREE times it was supposedly 'fixed' and THREE times we LIMPED back in not getting more than 25mi. away each time!

We were so disgusted and frightened of 'not' being able to 'limp' back in, that we traded it there on a 2010 Gas Hurricane. It, too, wasn't ready, so had to go back a week later and transfer 'all' our stuff from one to the other (what a pain). We thought we would be happy with it, but weren't.

Just three months ago we traded for a 2013 Gas Winnebago Sightseer. We took a couple short trips, then just this week came back from a 3 week 2,300 mi. trip. We absolutely 'love' everything about it. Hopefully this will be 'the one'. ::yes::

Congratulations on your new coach and surely hope everything goes OK with you as you continue to 'rough it' and you can have many more trouble free pixiedust: filled trips! :goodvibes

Congrats on the trade! Allegro is an awesome company, and a quality bus. I'm jealous! We had an older Allegro and got rid of it for my new rig - and I can see the quality difference :(

Tiffins are great coaches made right up the highway from. The family are good friendly people, even if their kid went to Bama, lol

I figured this would get you and Bama Ed! Haha

I'm glad it worked out for Christine. Maybe the RV was meant to be in the first place.

You would have to mention the Tiffin-Bama connection. It makes me feel old, dude. I was a student at Bama when Van Tiffen kicked the 52 yard field goal and was in the stands at Legion Field that night. That was when, 1983? Then his son already has grown up and spent 4 years kicking for Bama and graduated. I'm sure the next generation will be here shortly.

As an aside, though, personally I'm tired of you Aubs poking us Bama fans. Our team's recent success has come about through good coaching, strong recruiting, and hard work. All this talk about the SEC giving us a powder puff conference schedule this year, not calling us hardly EVER for holding, and the Red Elephant Club (REC) paying the referees is all just bogus talk. I'm grateful for whatever good happens.

Well, maybe the REC is doing some work. ;)

Okay back to Christine's thread.

Hahahaha. I remember that game very well, my parents went to this one, when it was over I knew they would not let me live it down, in fact I got a shirt for Christmas that I still have that says, "It ain't over till the little guy kicks!". Should be a good game this year.

Ok, back to the awesome new RV Christine and her family got, I would love to have one! I wish you all the best with it and hope you will share some pictures of it when you get it!

Thank you. I have joined irv2, and didn't even think to look there. Camping connections came to our site and got the slide in. Our RV is now in Tampa ready for trade in. We drove home in a rental car and will go back to pick up our new rv in a week or 2.
