. She believes that the LYFT background checks are much more in-depth. I believe they treat their drivers better than UBER (although both really should step up their game on that front.) I like that the cars are very identifiable with their lighted up pink signs.
Safety reminders for those who don’t know for ALL your rideshare trips
1) check the license plate matches the app
2) ask the driver “what’s my name?” before you enter the vehicle (they will know your first name from their app)
If the car doesn’t pass check one OR the driver doesn’t pass check two DO NOT ENTER THE VEHICLE. CANCEL THE RIDE. Two steps might seem like verification overkill but it’s not. Do both checks, your safety is worth it![]()

I’ve used rideshares for a few years myself and didn’t do the second part asking for my name before recent fake rideshare thing. I think it’s good practice because while faking a license plate is unlikely to happen it is likely that I might not read the license plate correctly or they might only have one on the back and I’ll be so busy with luggage and whatnot that I’ll tell the driver my name in an attempt to make sure they’re my driver and I’ll forget to verify the license plate prior to getting into the vehicle or might just quick glance and match a digit or 2 and assume it’s right... Recent events have made it clear that my old lax ways of verifying my rideshare are not enough and I will be absolutely diligent on all rideshares to verify both the license plate and that they know my name before I say it.I never would have even thought to do these, we have never used a rideshare before. Thanks for posting!
