Just back and will try to do one or so reviews daily. Now gazing at my lawn, which seems to be just about knee-high. It must have rained every day we were gone!!
Anyway:
We almost never eat lunch except for our first day, when dinner is usually around 8:00 PM or so. What usually happens is that tho I'm looking for just a burger, etc, I wind up seeing a "full menu" and then wind up ordering a big meal. Then I'm never quite hungry at 8:00. This time I was looking for a spot with just burgers, etc on the menu, and the Sand Trap seemed a good choice.
It's a bright, open, airy spot located on the 18th holes of Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines golf courses, with a very nice view. There's a small patio area outside also, with some tables and a few rocking chairs. There's also a fairly large bar area in the restaurant itself. The menu consists of several salads, and 7 or 8 different sandwiches--such as the Osprey Ridge Reuben, the Eagle Pines roast beef, etc. Also had a pork barbeque special that day. They have several wines by the glass, along with about 12 different beers--including Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada Pale. .
I spotted the "Cobb -in -the -rough" salad and was determined to order that. I love the Cobb at Brown derby, but hadn't been there in several years. This Cobb was just as good. About the size of the Cobb salad for 2 at the Derby, it was a perfect size for me. It had ham, turkey, egg, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon bits and blue cheese crumble. But it was all shredded or diced--not finely chopped as served at the Derby. I recall a few threads about the Cobb at the derby being TOO finely chopped, so if that's a problem for anyone, this Cobb salad might be more suitable.
Missing was the original French dressing as found at the derby--but they had a great Lime Sesame Vinaigrette which was just fine. I had a Sierra Nevada Pale along with the salad, and it all made for a fine lunch!
Mrs Uncleromulus decided on the veggie Wrap, which came with a garlic/peppered cream cheese spread and Salsa Chimmichurri. And also a small side salad. She also had a glass of Casablanca Valley (Chile) merlot--which came with a VERY generous pour! She was quite pleased also!!
Oh-price for the Cobb salad was $8.99 and the Vegie Wrap was $7.99. The wine was $5.50 a glass and my beer $3.75. Service was just fine throughout.
This is a great spot for lunch, and was quite relaxing and (by Disney standards) realtively quiet-there were only adults eating lunch when we were there, and our server told us that children show up only occasionally.
So-we'll definately make this our regular first day lunch stop and next time, I'll try one of those sandwiches.
