We leave tomorrow for our "Magic-al" cruise. Now, dh has me worried about our luggage. We have always driven, so we had our luggage all the way till port. Now we are flying in from Detroit and are supposed to check our bags in and wait for them on the ship. Hmmm....makes me nervous!

Does DCL wait for bags to arrive or check and make sure everyone has them before departing?
What if your bags don't make it, how do you get them?
Can we just bring our bags on the DCL bus with us?

I know many people do this all the time, but dh doesn't want to trust it.

HELP!

Just make sure you put the DCL luggage tags on the bags before you check them at the airport in Detroit. DCL should have your flight information if you've purchased transfers from them. They'll collect your bags.

While I can't guarantee that there will be no problems, I think that you should be fine. It's very convenient.

Your other option is to claim your bags, and then bring them to the bus. I personally wouldn't do this. My advice would be to tag the bags and let the cruise line take care of them, but please do what you feel comfortable doing. There is room for luggage on the busses, and claiming the bags at the airport shouldn't add that much time to the process.

We are considering renting a car from Avis for one way to the Radisson and using their shuttle.
If we do this, can we still use our DCL transports back to the airport at the end of the trip???

Anyone else have some advice???

Kamy:confused:

We are doing exactly that kamgen, no worries, they do have 1 way transfers. :D

We've used transports to return to the airport after cruise with out any problem. Have a great trip!!

So what should I do????
Avis or just stick with the DCL transportation we already have???
Am I being paranoid???

HELP!!

We used DCL transporation to the port on our cruse in August and the transfer was wonderful. We rented a car coming back to the airport because we had a late flight and visited some relatives. Just be sure to put your disney tags on your bags before you leave home.

If the two-way DCL transfers are already paid for, I'd stick with them. Adding in the rental car is an added expense, and I'm not sure it's an added convenience, if you're arriving the day of the cruise. With the rental, you have to claim your luggage, get to the rental car counter (could be a shuttle from the terminal involved, I'm not sure), then drive to the port, drop off your luggage, return the car, take the shuttle from the Radisson back to the port.

In contrast, with the DCL transfers, you get off the plane, find the DCL cast member (they're all over the place), get on the bus, watch a video, get to the port. Your luggage will be delivered to your room sometime during the afternoon.

Yes, with the DCL transfers, your luggage will not be in your control after you check it in Michigan, but DCL has done this for a while now, and I'm sure they're plenty capable. Look at it this way, unless you carry all of your luggage onto the plane, you're not guaranteed that it will arrive in Orlando, but you're still planning on checking it, aren't you? On 4 cruises, DCL has never lost our luggage (knock wood).

If you want added peace of mind, call DCL reservations and make sure they have your incoming flight information (it may be on your docs if they had it when the documents were printed).

We normally come in the night before the cruise and use a rental to get around town then use the transfer after the cruise to return to the airport.
This trip we probably won't use transfers as after the trip we are going to visit friends we met on the last DCL and spend the extra daywith them.

kamy dont worry be happy and have a great trip, u too tim
use dcl transportation u will be fine .................
