The Subway sandwich chain Monday rolled out a new low-carb sandwich option for Atkins-style dieters, offering every sandwich on the menu as a tortilla roll-up.
Two new combinations - a turkey-bacon melt with Monterey-cheddar cheese and a chicken-bacon-ranch roll-up with Swiss cheese - were unveiled to launch the line; they're priced at $4.49. Both have fewer than 11 net carbohydrates, and changes in the tortilla recipe will reduce the total to below 9 net carbs in a few weeks, the company said. The tortilla will have fewer than 5 net carbs, compared with at least 30 carbs in Subway's standard roll. The low-carb roll-ups will become available nationally Jan. 1.
