lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

I am sitting here in the London airport, waiting for our flight to board. A loooong layover (7 hrs!). Not fun when the flight from Delhi left at 3:30am! Add that to the 12.5hr time difference and I have no idea what day it is or where I am...:confused3

Delhi was fine, and dare I say I escaped with no ill side effects?? I think everything is OK, I am pretty sure I would have been in bad shape by now if I was affected. So that is good news! Not for weight loss though, I bet I gained a couple lbs, which is typical whenever I travel. Oh well...

I am taking the day off Fri. #1 because I know I'll be absolutely exhausted (my flight gets in at 6:40pm on Thu) and #2 because it's my b-day and I just don't feel like working on my b-day this year! I hope to get back into routine next week, even though it is a short week (only working M-W). We have a whole week after Christmas off, but there is no excuse not to get to the gym at least 3x that week. And work out twice at home! I got Jillian's 30 day Shred, we'll see how that goes. I really need to focus on strength training, I'm getting flabby!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I'm pretty sure I erase any benefits of gingerbread when I eat it by the pound! And I was SO embarrassed yesterday at breakfast - I had a hot flash in front of 4 male co-workers. They are all older, and they were freaking out. I just suddenly got so hot and started sweating and was fanning myself. They kept saying they thought I was too young for that (ya, I'm sure they are all experts!). I had to get up and it finally went away after a couple minutes and a glass of watermelon juice (SO yummy!)
Weight yesterday was 138.4! I was quite happy with that, considering I ate a lot on my trip and haven't worked out in almost 2 weeks... I fully plan to get back on routine starting Monday.
Off to go shopping!
Happy Belated Birthday, Amy!!!!:hug: I hope you had a great day!!!:goodvibes
Congrats on the weight loss!!:cheer2:
Hope you have a nice Sunday!:goodvibes
Amy, Happy Belated Birthday! I am glad you didn't get sick on this trip and well done with that weigh in!!! :cool1:
Hope you had a nice birthday, did you have a piece of cheesecake to celebrate your day with???
Hope you had a great weekend and that you are recovering from all the flights, layovers and jet lag.
Good to have you home!
ARGH!!!!!!!!!! Weight is creeping up again (3lbs so far). :mad: I just don't get it!!!!!!! I haven't been eating the healthiest since I've been back, but I haven't been snacking at all. So it's really frustrating. :sad2: I did not get up and work out this morning, I couldn't get to sleep to save my life last night. Went to bed around 9:45pm and was still tossing and turning, WIDE awake at 11:55pm. :guilty: So when that alarm went off at 4:30am, there was no way I was rolling out of bed! I did get up at 5:30, to come into work a little early. And I made a promise to myself that I would do Pilates when I get home this afternoon. Kids are gone, so there is NO excuse. I will just have to deal with the dog trying to lick me in the face everytime I do a pushup!
For Sunday:
B: 2 bowls Apple Jacks
L: FlatOut wrap w/chicken, cheddar, mustard; gingerbread pecan biscotti
S: small handful pecans
D: 2 pieces pepperoni-n-bacon pizza; couple bites of pumpkin ice cream; maybe 10 mint M&M's
E: none
Tracy, welcome back! Thanks, but I have a sneaky feeling I will have a GAIN this Friday! :confused3
Amy, on Sat, we went to Cheesecake Factory and I had a piece of chocolate coconut cheesecake for dinner! It was divine... :lovestruc
Chocolate coconut cheesecake, omg that sounds so good! I hope you enjoyed every bite (I am betting you did).
Good luck on Pilates With Buckley! Daisy is in the doghouse. My mom gave me an Advent Calendar years ago. Its made of cloth and has little quilted ornaments you hang up each day. Guess who has ingested or ripped apart three of the ornaments? Now my version of Advent is only 21 days long unless she destroys more of them!:mad:
Its a tough time of year, you are doing so much better than you could be. Also, sometimes travel, esp. flight travel can make the scale wacky for a few days. Just keep up making your best effort and your scale will thank you for it!
No worries on the scale, my friend. I bet those 3 pounds will be gone by Friday!:thumbsup2
Did you say chocolate coconut cheesecake?!?!?!:yay: I bet it was YUMMY!!:cool1: When we were in WDW, we stopped at the Boardwalk Bakery and my DH discovered cheesecake brownies. They were DELICIOUS!:love: We had a ton of snack credits leftover when we checked out. Wanna guess where we headed to use them? :rolleyes1 We brought 3 or 4 of those home with us in our cooler. YUMMY!!!:cool1:
Hope you have a great day ahead!:hug:
I am exhausted! :confused: I think I am fighting off a cold - I've had a scratchy throat and sinus pressure for a couple days. Which wouldn't surprise me since I was on a plane for 17+ hours recently... I'm not totally down and out, but definitely not 100%. I fell asleep a little before 8pm last night and when the alarm went off at 4:30am, let's just say I was in no shape to go to the gym. :confused3 I did manage to drag myself out at 5:30 to get ready for work, and I've been sluggish ever since!
The good news is that I worked out yesterday! :yay: Not so sure about today, I would like to think I can get some cardio in, but I am really tired! I am debating on whether or not to renew my gym membership next year (it expires in Feb). I can never get to any classes anymore, don't use the weight machines anymore, I can always run outside instead of using the treadmill and I have plenty of exercise DVDs. Not to mention my work has a small gym that is FREE, and I'm sure it wouldn't be busy if I went at 4:30am. Decisions, decisions...
For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/chicken, cheddar, mustard; 1 Hershey kiss
S: baby carrots; apple
D: 2 pieces leftover pepperoni-n-bacon pizza; 7 mint M&Ms
E: 55min Pilates Sculpt DVD
Avoided: more Hershey kisses (someone left a little jar with 4 of them on my desk!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, beagles are SO BAD about that! Just when you think they are "cured", they will eat something else... :confused3 I think you should put 3 little pictures of Daisy to replace the 3 she ate! ;) I saw a beagle puppy in the airport when I was leaving for Delhi last week - SO cute!

Tracy, that cheesecake was to die for. And it was so rich I couldn't even eat it in one sitting, I had to save some for later! Those cheesecake brownies sound wonderful!! :lovestruc

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Needless to say, not only did I NOT make my goal, I went completely in the wrong direction! Today's WI showed a 3.4lb gain from last week - 141.8 :sad2: I guess that is what I get for NOT working out last week except once. :guilty: So much for getting back on track right after my biz trip! I don't want to be in the 140's, I HATE that decade! So I am going to have to buckle up and get back to working out consistently. My eating has actually been decent - not the healthiest choices, but definitely not over eating. So that is a good thing. I'll get there eventually, I still want to reach 135 at some point! Now, the question is - should I give myself another goal date to reach that weight?? Maybe a reward if I make it? What do you guys think??

:santa: Merry Christmas to you and your family, Amy!:grouphug:

I think setting a new goal date and adding a reward when you accomplish your goal is a great idea!!!:thumbsup2 I may do that as well in the new year. I'm ready to lose this weight! ::yes::

I hope you have a wonderful day filled with love, laughter, and God's peace. Merry Christmas, my friend!:hug:

I kind of got back on track yesterday, although food was a little wacky... :rolleyes1 Weight for the past 2 mornings has been 139.6. At least I'm not in the 140's anymore, but why oh why couldn't it have been that number for my "official" weigh-in on Fri?? :confused3 I really want to get deeper into the 130's so when TOM rolls around and I gain those extra 3lbs at least I will still be in the 130's.

I need to come up with a goal and a timeframe to reach that goal. I'll also need a reward, but I think I can come up with that pretty easily! ;) My true goal is to get to 130. My driver's license goal is 135. Should I go for the gusto and set it at 130? And given the extremely SLOW pace I lose weight, should I give it a long time (6 months) or try to make it happen sooner (maybe 3 months)? Need some advice from my WISH sisters!

For Sunday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: Wheat Sandwich Round w/chicken, mustard, provolone; 1+ serving Munchos
S: gingerbread-pecan biscotti; 8 mint M&M's
D: leftover ham; gingerbread cheesecake :lovestruc

E: 45min elliptical (4.08mi)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks for the Christmas wishes! We had a wonderful day.
Why not have the "realistic" goal and the "ideal" goal? That's sort of what I have right now...a number I would be happy with and one I would absolutely love to reach although I won't beat myself up if I don't.
Doesn't it feel good to get back on track?
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Amy! Despite the frustration, your weight is good considering your travel & the holidays! You ROCK!!!
I've been MIA most of the month, but back now. We can and must Get this weight GONE!!!!!
In case I go missing again....hope you have a safe, Happy New Year!!
Amy, Merry Christmas a bit late!:santa:
Why don't you average the two goals and maybe try to lose that weight in say 4.5 months? I know you can do this, you are very disciplined.
I would just hold off on the gym membership for a bit. You can see how it goes at the free work gym and doing dvd's and running outside. If that all becomes too complicated or undesireable, you can always go back. Gyms never turn you away if you want to rejoin and they always have specials!
Good job getting back on track with food and also I hope your cold is gone.
Hi Amy,
Why don't you set two goals? Set your 135 goal with a reward and then your 130 goal with a bigger reward. As far as time goes, maybe take a look at your schedule for the next couple of months and see what kind of trips, kids' activities, e.t.c that you will have going on and then figure your goal date(s). However you choose to accomplish your goals, I know you CAN do it, Amy!!!!:cheer2:
Hope you have a great Monday!:hug:
You know, I'm no slouch at the gym, but I did Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred LEVEL 1 and it kicked my butt! I dread to think what Levels 2 and 3 are like. :eek: Fortunately the workouts are only 20 minutes, but man do I feel it this morning. I guess you are supposed to do it every day (no instructions came with it!) for 30 days. We'll see about that!
Food was OK yesterday. Thanks for all the advice on the goal setting, I will think about it and post my goal tomorrow! I am off work all week (have been off since last Wed), and so far haven't been doing anything with all this free time except sleeping in until 8-8:30 and staying in my pj's until noon... :confused3 I am going to the Dr today - I am losing my hair! :sad1: It's been going on for about a year now, and it's gotten to the point I can actually feel cold on my scalp (or hot with the blow dryer) and see thin spots! :sad2: I've always had TONS of thick hair, so this is unnerving. Hopefully there is a simple explanation and/or solution. :wizard:
Today is going to be relatively busy - I have the Dr, both kids have dentist appointments and DD has soccer practice...
For Sunday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: Wheat sandwich thin w/chicken, mustard, provolone; 1 serving LF Cheez-Its (these are gross!); 5 mint M&M's
S: handful pecans; 2 Junior Mints
D: turkey meatloaf; zucchini
S: 1/2 bag microwave popcorn
E: 20min Shred L1
Avoided: butter cookies! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
inkkognito, thanks for stopping by my journal! It does feel good to get back on track, now I just need to stay there! ;)

Julie, thanks! Now I know what you are talking about when you were doing the Shred workouts! :headache:

Amy, my yearly gym membership runs out at the end of Feb, so I have a couple months to figure it out. Now, should I try working out now (like the month of Jan) as if I DON'T have a membership and see if I like it so I can still renew if I don't? Hmm, that sounds like a plan... :idea:

Tracy, I like any idea with 2 rewards! :thumbsup2 And great idea to look at the big picture with trips and other things. Because those really do affect my weight loss (or lack thereof). Thanks! :hug:

I hope your hair thing was figured out! That would unerve me too.

When you are off work, sleeping in and staying in your pj's is a good thing! Recharging and recouping are important and you have earned the right to enjoy doing just that!

I think working out away from the gym for a month is a great idea. What better way to find out if you can live without it?

I think my 30 Day Shred will be a 60 Day Shred because there is no way I'm doing that workout every day! I am a believer in letting your muscles rest and not working the same muscles 2 days in a row. So, I will do those workouts every OTHER day. It's not like I'm in any kind of rush!

And that brings me to my new goal(s). Goal #1 is to hit 135 by the end of Feb '10. I know that seems like a looong time (my weight this morning was 137.2!) but I also know how my body goes up and down, up and down. Reward for reaching that goal will be a new outfit. :cool1: Goal #2 is to hit 130 by the end of May '10. Reward for reaching Goal #2 will be a new suit for work. :woohoo: And my ultimate goal, which may never be reached, is to hit 125 by the end of Aug '10. I used to hover around 128-130 and that was a really good weight for me. I read an article on Valerie Bertinelli yesterday and she is my same height (5'4") and is currently 128 and said she will not let herself get past 132. And she looks GOOD! :thumbsup2

As for the gym, I am going to not use the gym for the entire month of Jan, to see if I can use all the tools I have at home. If that doesn't work, I will get back to the gym for the month of Feb and renew my membership. I feel good about things! My New Years Resolution is to NOT get frustrated when my body decides to gain 3-4lbs every 3 weeks when TOM shows up, and to NOT get frustrated with my pathetically slow weight loss. ;)

For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: Zone bar; 4 mint M&Ms
S: handful pecans; 1 butter cookie
D: 2 bowls Cocoa Puffs

E: 45min treadmill (3.86mi)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I have to go get a slew of blood work done. He is checking hormones, thyroid, the works! The hair loss could be something hereditary (although no women in my family have it, just men) or it could be a thyroid problem, or something more serious like an autoimmune problem. So, I will have to wait until the end of Jan to find out! :confused:
I was looking at the 30 day shred workout at Target the other day. Maybe I need to go ahead and buy it to help me get back on track with exercise. I have a ton of FIRM tapes, but our VCR broke so I need to get some new DVDs.
Your goals and rewards look good, Amy!:thumbsup2 You CAN accomplish each and every one of them!:cheer2:
Sending some good thoughts and prayers your way....Did you say you won't know your test results until the end of January?
I hope your Tuesday is a good one!:hug:
Great goals! Slow, steady and realistic is truly the best way.
That DVD sounds wicked. Smart to do it every other day. I never realized that a 20 minute workout could be intense but some of my Wii Sports Active Workouts aren't much more than that and I am dripping sweat when I am done. That Shred sounds even more intense...ouch! Oh well, you know you are burning calories for sure.
