lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

Hold onto your hats for this shocker - I got up this morning and worked out at home!!!! :banana::cheer2::woohoo: It's about time! And it's been so long since I did this DVD that I know I will be feeling it tomorrow... I decided to go to the gym for cardio T, Th and Sat this week, because of the long weekend. That way I can sleep in 1/2hr more on M and W and only wake up at 4:30 on Tues. :rolleyes1

Eating yesterday was not stellar. It could have been WAY worse, but there was nothing binge-worthy in the whole house! Which is a good thing. :thumbsup2

For Sunday:
B: skipped (probably the root of my constant foraging for food all day!)
L: wheat tortilla; turkey taco meat; cheese; hot sauce; freeze-dried apple
S: peppers-n-hummus; large handful pecans; fun size M&Ms
S: 2+ servings Cheez-Its; fun size Snickers :sad2:
D: 2 pieces homemade pepperoni pizza; HC fudge bar

E: none

Avoided: donuts at grocery store; cookies; more Halloween candy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks! Sundays are always so hectic, it seems like that is the only day I have to get stuff done!
First of all, I need to tell you that my legs are screaming in agony from yesterday's workout! I powered through it and went to the gym this morning, since sometimes it stretches things out, but it just made it worse... Oh well, that's what I get for blowing off those workouts these past couple months!
Secondly, I am SO FRUSTRATED right now, I just want to cry. :sad: We went out to eat last night, and I didn't do great, but I didn't do super bad, either. And what do I get in return? A 3lb gain!!!! :mad: I know I should only "count" my weight once a week, but I weigh every morning. Friday was 140, Sat, Sun and Mon were all 139, and this morning was 142! WTH????? :sad1: It's times like these that I just get SO aggravated and want to give up. I have 10lbs I want to lose. So a 3 lb gain is HUGE!!!!! :sad: :sad: :sad: So please send me some words of encouragement, I really need them right now!
For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: 2 pieces leftover homemade pepperoni pizza
S: 2 egg whites; apple
S: pretzels-n-LF Laughing Cow wedge; peppers-n-hummus; fun size Butterfinger
D: 2 scrambled eggs; hashbrowns; 1 strip bacon; 3 pumpkin pancakes w/caramel sauce & whipped cream (no syrup) :lovestruc
E: 55min Pilates Sculpt DVD
Avoided: pie at Village Inn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I am paying the price today for yesterday's workout, but it is motivation for me to continue so I don't feel like this again!

Sending some :wizard::wizard: your way. Workout pain is a good thing/bad thing isn't it? Good in that the body gets a workout, bad in that the body is sore the next day.

Now about the scale...No worries, Amy!:hug: You have been doing such a great job. ::yes:: Please do NOT let one weigh-in cause you to give up. Those 3 pounds might just be some water weight. Did you have salty foods yesterday? Is TOM coming soon? You have a very do-able goal that you are trying to attain before Christmas. I know you and I know that you CAN do this, Amy!!!:cheer2: Please don't give up!:hug:

Have a good afternoon, my friend. :hug:

No Pilates this morning, my legs are still SO sore! :headache: WOW, I must have been really out of shape... It is a little better than yesterday, but not much! Hopefully I can stretch them out today and get my workout in this evening. We'll see...

I got a Weight Watchers scale. We get award points at work and I had accumulated a bunch of them, and one of the items was this scale, so I figured what the heck. I also got some new cordless phones for the house and an iPod for DD's Christmas gift! :thumbsup2 And I still have more points, I have no idea what I'll spend them on... Anyway, this scale does body fat, BMI, water % and all that jazz. Not a pretty sight! We were cracking up because it would not register DS's body fat, it would always come back with ERR, after trying multiple times. I think that's because he doesn't have any! :rotfl: So my weight this morning on the new scale was 142.6. It's pretty close to my old scale, except more accurate since my old scale was whole numbers only. At this rate, I may not make my goal of being under 140 by the end of Nov! :sad2: But who knows, my body is so crazy I might dump 3lbs in one day, just like I gained them! :confused3

DH came back for the long weekend last night, so it will be nice to have him here for more than 2 days!

Oh ya, I forgot to mention the most exciting thing - DD made All Stars!!! :banana::cool1::yay::cheer2: I am SO proud of her, even though it is a huge commitment and I can kiss all my weekends goodbye between Jan and April of next year... :goodvibes

For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/ham; colby jack cheese
S: string cheese; apple
S: handful pecans; fun size Almond Joy
D: chicken stir-fry w/brown rice; crispy rice noodles; fun size M&Ms; HC fudge bar

E: 45min on elliptical

Avoided: more Halloween candy (I should really get rid of it! At least the M&Ms are gone)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I did have some salty foods on Monday (pepperoni on the pizza, pretzels, plus eating out), and I am having some PMS symptoms and looking at the calendar, TOM is due any day now. That always makes me gain too. Thanks for pointing out those things, it helps to have an outside, rational take on the situation! :hug:
CONGRATULATIONS to your DD on making the All Star team!!!!:cool1::yay::woohoo::cheer2::dance3:
I have a scale similar to yours. ::yes:: I like how it gives a more accurate weight reading, especially when it shows a loss. :thumbsup2
That's great that your DH is home for the holiday!:goodvibes
Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!:hug:
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
Just a quick post before I start making my pumpkin fluff and pumpkin tartlets (thanks for the recipe, Amy! :hug:). I didn't end up working out yesterday (big surprise) and I am supposed to go to the gym today, but we'll see how it goes. I know I'll go tomorrow, I just need to see how things are going later this morning. They close at 2pm today, so it's all about timing (plus motivation!).
For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover chicken stir fry (no rice)
S: string cheese; apple
S: red peppers-n-hummus; fun size Kit Kat
D: veggie burger w/mustard (no bun); corn; HC fudge bar
E: none
Avoided: nothing really, I wasn't feeling very snacky yesterday! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks for sticking with me, and a Happy T-Day to you too! :hug:

Hi Amy,

How did your Thanksgiving go? Those pumpkin tartlets sound good!:goodvibes

Hope you have a great day!:goodvibes

Weight this morning was 141.6. A 1.6lb gain from last week, but I know it is probably all water retention because everything that usually isn't jiggly is! I am very proud of myself though - I weighed myself yesterday and I was 141.4, so I only gained 0.2lbs from Thanksgiving! :thumbsup2 I did pretty good with food, but drank way too much wine throughout the day. We didn't end up with that many leftovers, but somehow have 2 whole pumpkin pies left, plus quite a bit of pumpkin fluff (at least that's low fat) and about 7 pumpkin tartlets. I will have to behave! :rolleyes:

Today I am going to take down the Thanksgiving decorations and maybe start with the Christmas stuff. And we need to figure out what we are going to do during our Christmas break. I am NOT going anywhere near a retail store today, I hate the crowds!

I did end up going to the gym yesterday, so that was good! I should be able to do my Pilates today, and if I go to the gym tomorrow, that will be my 5x for this week. :cool1:

For Thursday:
B: 2 bowls Apple Jacks
L: red pepper-n-hummus; 1 serving Cheez-Its; 2 no-bake cookies
D: turkey breast; yams w/marshmallows-n-brown sugar (lots!); stuffing (maybe 1/2c); carrot sticks; 1 pumpkin tartlet; 1c pumpkin fluff; 4 glasses white wine
S: 1/2 serving Cheez-Its

E: 45min on treadmill

Avoided: pumpkin pie; apple pie; mashed potatoes-n-gravy; green bean casserole; rolls-n-butter; cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, the pumpkin tartlets were pretty good! Basically pumpkin pie taste without the crust. The turkey was delicious and everyone had a good time, we had about 12 people over.
Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving, Amy. :goodvibes Any pumpkin tartlets left? ;) They sound YUMMY! ::yes::
Only .2 pound gain from Thanksgiving?!?!?!? :worship: :woohoo: Way to go!!!!!:cheer2: Great job getting to the gym too!:cheer2:
Any special plans for the weekend? Xmas shopping?:santa:
Have a great day!:hug:
Yesterday I managed to get all the Thanksgiving stuff taken down and the Christmas stuff up, minus the tree. We'll probably do that today. DH got most of the lights up outside, we'll finish that today as well. And our phone ringer is on Jingle Bells now, so we get in the holiday spirit every time someone calls! :goodvibes
I did not work out yesterday and I made some baaaaad food choices. :rolleyes1 Today we are going to see Planet 51 and I will not get any popcorn or candy. I need to get back on track before I go off the deep end again! Most of the tempting junk is gone or soon will be, so that is a good thing.
For Friday:
B: 2 eggs; wheat toast-n-butter
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey; shredded cheese; 2 pumpkin tartlets
S: 1 serving Baked Lays; 2 chocolate no-bake cookies :confused3
D: turkey burger on wheat bun w/mustard and sweet relish (no cheese); pumpkin fluff
S: microwave popcorn (shared w/kids)
E: none
Avoided: pumpkin pie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, there are still 3 pumpkin tartlets left! Thankfully DH likes them, so he can help get rid of them! We still have 2 whole pumpkin pies left, he is going to take one with him when he goes back on his biz trip on Sunday. And DS can eat the other one. No plans other than the movie today and probably a Costco run. That ought to be a nightmare! :eek:

Great job on getting your Christmas stuff up!:thumbsup2

How did you like the movie?

Have a great Saturday!:hug:

Hey Amy, just getting caught up with you! That is so great your dd made the All Star team. :cheer2: Who needs weekends between January and April? ;)

I am cracking up about your ds body fat thing on the scale, we did that once at some scale demo at the mall and the guy there just kept saying "nobody can be that skinny in the United States". Um yeah, they can! I thought of your ds on Wed. My ds was playing football with friends and he got tackled by a kid who weighs about 200 pounds (almost twice what Matthew does). Anyway, my son was in pain but that kid was in agony from landing on the bony kid!

That three pounds will go away soon, it never fails that salt foods and pms wil bring that on. Just give it a week or so more and you'll be back under 140. YOu get an extension due to hormones!

Glad you had a nice thanksgiving and got your Christmas stuff up. And thanks for keeping up with my journal through everything that has been going on with me lately. You are a good friend!:hug:

Were those pumpkin tartlets the ones I sent you the recipe for? I made the fully loaded pie for us but plan to make those soon. Hope they were good!

I am crossing my fingers that I still make my goal of being under 140 by the end of the month! I am getting really close... I will definitely post my weight on Tues, Dec 1, whether it's good or bad. ;)

Yesterday DS about gave me a coronary. I am super over-protective, and let's face it, DS has a history of lying so he can get what he wants. He inherited his dad's gift of lying, that's for sure... :confused3 But I have to give him credit, he has not been doing that lately and all his stories have checked out for the past few months, so I need to start trusting him again. Which is difficult to do! So he wanted to go with his friend to this gaming place. They pay one fee and can stay and play whatever games all day. We were going to drop them off and the other kid's mom was going to pick them up. They were dropped off at about 2pm and were supposed to be picked up at 6. Around 4:30, DS called me on his friend's cell phone, asking if they could stay until 8pm because they were having so much fun. Against my better judgement, I said OK, but to call me back and let me know that his friend's mom was picking them up. That call never came... Around 8:15, I started calling his cell phone, which he never answered. And he knows better than that! So I went into his room, and there was his phone - charging... I called his friend's cell and it went straight to voicemail! So now I am freaking out. I don't have this kid's home # (but I do know where he lives) and it's now 8:30pm and I have no way of getting in touch with my son. Finally, at 8:45pm he strolls in... I got on his case about his cell phone, and he said he forgot it because he had to charge it and that it wouldn't happen again. I know I need to start letting go and letting him be more independent. Any words of wisdom??

Food yesterday was not so good. I am actually looking forward to Monday to get back into a routine!

For Saturday:
B: 1 bowl Reese's Puffs
L: leftover chicken stir-fry; crunchy rice noodles; pumpkin tartlet
S: chocolate no-bake cookie; sugar cookie
S: 1 serving Baked Lays; freeze-dried apple
D: 2 slices ham-n-pineapple pizza; pumpkin fluff

E: none

Avoided: pumpkin pie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, the movie was cute. It seemed a little long, and of course predictable, but it was fun.
Amy, great to see you back! Still haven't put the tree up, will most likely do that today. Yes, those pumpkin tartlets are from the recipe you gave me! They are really good. Except DH didn't like the gingersnaps on the top, so I think I might skip those next time. And I added cloves to the recipe, since those are in pumpkin pie. Try them!
oh Amy, Amy Amy... words of wisdom..... HELP,
i'm having exactly the same problems!! we had major tears because im forever moaning & getting on at DD for not doing the stuff she is supposed to do!!!
we just have to do what we think is the best for them & pray they turnout to be sensible young adults!!!! in my case nothing like me!! ;)
:hug: Amy,
I'm sorry to hear about the situation with your DS. I would have been worried too!:hug: Do you have a rule that if he is going to be late that he has to call you? Maybe next time, you can tell him in no uncertain terms that he is to be home at a certain time and that if he's going to be late (with a valid reason) he must call or there will be a consequence.
Sending :wizard::wizard: for your weigh-in. I hope it goes well for you!:goodvibes
Have a great day today!:hug:
It never ceases to amaze me how the same size pants can be so different! I dug out a pair of pants from the back of the closet, Size 8, and they are a little snug. I have a couple pairs of dress pants, Size 8, that fit just fine. Also a couple jeans Size 8 that fit fine and another pair of Size 8 dress pants that are too tight... :confused3
Got to the gym this morning, which was a good way to start the week! :cool1: And I am determined to get in 5x this week, I slacked off a lot last week, even if I did get 3 workouts in... :rolleyes1 Weight was back up this morning, but I should expect that since I've been heavy on the junk these past few days! Probably not going to make my "under 140 by the end of Nov" goal, but what can I do. It is what it is! I doubt the world will come crashing down because of it! ;)
For Sunday:
B: protein bar
L: pretzels-n-LF Laughing Cow wedge; handful pecans
S: red pepper-n-hummus; pumpkin tartlet (last one!)
D: teriyaki chicken w/red pepper-n-pineapple; brown rice; crunchy rice noodles; pumpkin pie w/LF Cool Whip
E: none
Avoided: churro at Costco
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, I think that is why I am so paranoid - I don't want either of my kids to be the kind of teenager I was! :eek: I think it's just a natural teenager thing - to ignore whatever the parents say!

Tracy, DS knows all the rules and all the consequences, yet breaks them anyway. It seems like he can only follow the rules for about 2-3 days after his last punishment ended. Then he's back to being punished again! He must like being grounded... :sad2:

I hear you on the sizing thing, Amy. ::yes:: It seems like there is no universal sizing standard. With some manufacturers, I wear one size and with other manufacturers, I wear another. It can get frustrating! :(

Great job getting to the gym this morning! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Hope everything works out with your DS. :wizard:

Have a great afternoon!:goodvibes
