lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

I did good with food yesterday!!! :cool1::banana::cheer2::yay: It's about time. I think I will add a line to my daily update, to included avoided temptations. Maybe "bragging" about my good choices will help. WHo knows, I'm desperate to change things, so I'll give it a try!

DD rolled her ankle during PE yesterday and couldn't even walk on it for the rest of the day. Today she has an all day rehearsal for a 15 school music program (9am-3pm), and the concert is at 3pm. She was hurting by the time we got to the auditorium, I hope she does OK. Only 10 kids from her entire school were selected for this program, and they have been practicing once a week since the beginning of Sept. Fortunately she did not have a soccer game this weekend, but next weekend is All Star tryouts, and she really wants to make it this year. So we'll keep our fingers crossed she is fully healed by then! :wizard:

For Friday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: small Schlotsky's turkey bacon club on wheat (mustard instead of mayo)
S: 3 mini cucumbers; apple
S: snap peas-n-hummus; freeze-dried apple
D: homemade sloppy joe w/turkey meat; wheat bun; green beans; HC fudge bar

E: none

Avoided: chips w/lunch; 2 mini Twix bars my friend gave me; oversnacking after work! :woohoo:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, that is an excellent way of looking at things and you are right. DH being gone will have to be the norm for the rest of the year.
Tracy, it is amazing how easy it is to add up calories from a little bit here, little bit there. I bet on my bad days I consume 500 calories just from after work snacking. :rolleyes1
Those little calories are called BLT's! Bites, licks and tastes. They get us all I'm afraid!
I am so sorry about dd's foot, I hope she does okay today. What an honor!
And great job doing well with food. On a friday no less. I am seriously impressed!
You resisted lots of empty calories which is awesome.
Your food looks great, Amy!!!!:thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!!!:cheer2:
How is your DD's ankle today? I hope it's feeling better!:wizard:
Have a wonderful day!:hug:
Just a quick post before we head off to the movies (Christmas Carol in 3d!). I did good with food again yesterday! :banana: I plan on having a Diet Coke and NO snacks at the movie. Just ate breakfast, so I should be fine. Now I just need to keep that up and get back on my exercise routine starting tomorrow.
For Saturday:
B: 2 bowls Cinnamon Toast Crunch
L: FlatOut wrap w/spinach, mustard, turkey, colby; 1 serving baked Ruffles
S: red pepper-n-hummus; freeze-dried apple
D: grilled tri-tip; corn; HC fudge bar
E: none
Avoided: mini Twix (had it in my hand, then dropped it, figured that was a sign!); microwave popcorn when we watched a movie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I hate BLTs! They are my biggest downfall. The concert was cute, there were 15 different schools represented. And yes, it was an honor to be chosen, I am very proud of her!

Tracy, DD's foot is much better, but still sore. I just hope she is OK for All Star soccer tryouts on Sat, she really wants to make it this year.

Woke up this morning thinking it was Tuesday. Not a good way to start the week! But I did get to the gym this morning, so that is a GREAT start to the week! :yay: Today is super busy, I am not going to set foot in my house until after 8pm. I have to take DS to the Dr right after work, dragging DD along because we have to leave directly from the Dr (located in a different city) to soccer practice. :faint: I have chili cooking in the crockpot so at least dinner is taken care of! And no time to be tempted by snacking, so that is good too. :woohoo:

I did pretty good all weekend with food. I finally snapped and got back on track! I just need to stay there for a while! I WILL make my goal of 135 by Christmas. :thumbsup2 And I WILL be firmly out of the 140's by the end of November! :thumbsup2

For Sunday:
B: 2 bowls Cinnamon Toast Crunch
L: FlatOut wrap w/spinach, mustard, turkey, colby jack; pretzels w/LF Laughing Cow wedge
S: snap peas-n-hummus
S: handful pecans; snack pack of M&M's (maybe 14 total)
D: 2 slices homemade pepperoni pizza; HC fudge bar

E: none

Avoided: popcorn/candy at movies; microwave popcorn at home, the remaining 2 slices of pizza :cheer2:

You did a great job with food this weekend, especially avoiding all of those goodies at the movies. ::yes:: Not only that, but you got your workout in this morning as well!:cheer2: You are off to a great start this week!!!:cheer2: That Christmas goal of 135 pounds is YOURS!!!!:thumbsup2

So how did you like Christmas Carol? I've read a lot of reviews that said the movie was excellent, but a little scary. What did you think?

Have a marvelous Monday!:hug:

Great job Amy! You are very much back on track and your goals will be realities very soon.

Don't you love your crockpot for days like today?

Keep up the good work, glad dd's concert went well and that her foot is better!

Way to go Amy!:cheer2: You are doing great with your food. How do you avoid the movie theater popcorn? I can't....I have no will power when it comes to that.

How is DD's ankle? Will pray that she is fully recovered for this weekend and tryouts go well. and here's a little :wizard: added in.

Way to go on getting to the gym yesterday. I think you have made it over one hurdle. Your DH being gone during the week was really bothering you, but now that you know how long he is going to be doing this, I think you have come to terms with it and as you said "this is the new norm" one of those mental things you were mentioning. By my calculations you want to lose 8lbs in 6 weeks. You can definitly do it. :cheer2:

I am so glad that hectic day is over and done with! :headache: DS13 had to get his meds adjusted because he's grown so much (5'10", 118lbs! :eek:) According to the BMI, he is classified as anorexic! Interesting, since yesterday for breakfast he ate 3 packs of instant oatmeal and 2 huge bowls of Rice Krispies! Everyone says he will fill out eventually. Standing by...

DD10 survived soccer practice, but said her foot was sore by the end. But she is not favoring it anymore, so I think she will be fine by Sat. She has a sleepover tonight (they are off school tomorrow) and we just found out about it yesterday! Gee, thanks for the notice, what is wrong with some of these parents?? And thanks for having it during the week. Yes, I understand there is no school tomorrow, but SOME OF US WORK! So that means I will have to take off some time from work to pick her up... Good thing I'm not busy right now, or she wouldn't be able to go.

I just found out there is a group lunch for work today. I hate these things! We shouldn't be forced to socialize with our co-workers... And secondly, I had already brought a healthy lunch, now I am going to be tempted by all kinds of goodies (it's a Greek/Mediterranean place). I will either get a salad or practice portion control or both.

For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, shredded cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 mini cucumbers; apple
S: freeze-dried apple; snack pack M&M's
D: crockpot chili (made w/ground turkey); 4 wheat crackers; HC fudge bar

E: 45min on treadmill (3.87mi)

Avoided: lemon ginger cookie after dinner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, the movie was great, the effects and animation were spectacular. There were some very scary parts, especially with the Ghost of Future Christmas (it followed the book pretty closely). My kids are 13 and 10, so no big deal, but little ones might be scared.
Amy, I have another crockpot dinner planned for Thursday! I love that thing. Except I hate the leftovers when DH is not here! :laughing:
Lisa, this theater we went to does not have the flavored sprinkles (i :love: the white cheddar flavor) so popcorn is not as tempting for me. We stopped at Walgreens to get the kids candy and I didn't even go in because I would have bought some Sugar Babies or Junior Mints. And we always go to the first show (around 9am) and I eat breakfast right before. Some days are easier to resist than others, that's for sure. Thanks for the encouragement on my goal! I'm not going to jinx myself before WI on Fri, but when TOM left, a couple lbs went with it. Hoping they stay gone! :wizard:
Things are going pretty good right now. Food is under control, exercise is back on track, weight is flying off like crazy... Can't complain, that's for sure! And yes, I know my dramatic weight loss is due to TOM leaving, but I'll take it and enjoy it until TOM brings it right back in a couple weeks!
For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: Greek salad w/chicken kebab (no dressing); 4 pita wedges
S: 3 mini cucumbers
S: freeze-dried apple; snap peas-n-hummus
D: 2 bowls Corn Pops; fun size Snickers bar (both kids were gone, I didn't want to cook!)
E: 40min Pilates
Avoided: eating more Corn Pops (I really wanted more, but I actually listened to my full stomach! :thumbsup2)
You're doing a great job, Amy!!!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!!:cheer2:
Do you think Christmas Carol would be okay for 9 and 7 year olds? My girls aren't squeamish and generally don't scare easily, but with the reviews that I have read online, I'm just not sure.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!:hug:
Amy, your son and my son are about the exact same size! My son is 5'9" and weighs 100 pounds. Like you, I keep thinking he'll fill out. Must be nice!
Your food looks good, you did well at the Greek place which is not easy to do. Keep this up and you'll be at your goal right on time!
I did not work out this morning, but I am actually OK with it. I feel like I'm back in the zone, and if I miss one day I will survive. I plan on going to the gym for some cardio tomorrow, and who knows, maybe I'll do my Pilates workout later (not likely!) or on Sat. I've already worked out 3x this week, so I'm not going to fret! :goodvibes
For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover chili; 4 wheat crackers
S: string cheese; snap peas (I like these WAY better with hummus!)
S: pretzels w/LF Laughing Cow wedge; freeze-dried pear
D: chicken stir fry w/brown rice; HC fudge bar
E: 45min on elliptical (4.30mi)
Avoided: Costco chocolate chip cookies (there are 2 left!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I think the movie would be OK for the 9 year old, not sure about the 7 year old. It wasn't violent or anything like that, just creepy scary. Like when Marley shows up with the chains and blocks and the spooky Ghost of Christmas to Come. That was the scariest part - a shadow shaped like the Grim Reaper chasing Scrooge around. But it's not too bad. I didn't see any kids running out crying or anything like that!

Amy, I still can't believe how skinny DS is! He definitely doesn't get it from me! As for the Greek place, I am WAY more inclined to behave when eating in front of co-workers or people I don't know well. Heck, maybe I should do that all the time when we go out!

Amy, I love your attitude about not stressing about not working out today! Three times a week is really something given how busy you have been so good job focusing on the positive!

I am with you, I don't like to overeat in front of "outsiders". Everyone I know probably wonders why the heck I weigh what I do since I eat like a bird!:laughing: In any case, surviving eating out is not easy to do and you did well. You have had a great week!

Yeah, my ds definitely doesn't get his skinniness from me.;) I noticed above I said he weighs 100 pounds, he actually weighs around 108. Dd is 5'1" and weighs 76 pounds. So they clearly have found some good genes someplace I never bothered to look!

Keep up your good work, I am anxious to see what your weigh in is tomorrow, I am betting it will be very good news!:goodvibes

Amy, looks like you have had a great week. Way to go in the food department and three workouts are great. :cool1:

My first DS (23) is short like me. He is about 5'4", don't know what he weighs, but I'd say about 140. Second DS (14) is 5'7" and weighs 108. He has always been real skinny, but up until this past summer he was always one of the shortest in his class. Finally decided to grow this summer and he really hasn't stopped. DH and I both had really tall grandfathers. Guess the genes can skip generations?

:wizard: that your DD has good soccer try outs tomorrow.

Thanks for the movie review, Amy. :goodvibes I think we'll end up taking the girls to see it on DD's birthday. :thumbsup2

Hope weigh in goes well for you today! :wizard:

Have a wonderful weekend!:hug:

Weight this morning was 140. I'll take it!!! :banana: I feel very confident that I can make both my end of Nov goal (under 140) and my Christmas goal (135).

I didn't end up working out yesterday, but I did this morning. I was extremely tired (for some reason I woke up at 3:30am and in my sleep-deprived haze kept wondering if I was supposed to go to the gym at 3:30 instead of 4:30) and I was tired all the way through my workout and felt tired after, which rarely happens. I feel much better now, I must have just been too tired this morning!

Work is starting to get busy again, which is a mixed blessing. I am trying to get prepared for my 3 week trip next year, I have been hearing horror stories about some of the places we will be staying! :eek: Oh well, makes for interesting conversation at parties! :laughing:

For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover chicken stir-fry w/brown rice
S: V8; 3 egg whites
S: handful pecans; mini Twix
D: crockpot chicken las vegas w/brown rice; mini Baby Ruth

E: none

Avoided: second handful of pecans; going to Dairy Queen with my brother (but we are going tonight!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, we will be going out to dinner tonight. My brother's new girlfriend is drop dead gorgeous and skinny. I don't know how he attracts these women, he is a goofball in my opinion! :lmao: So I will definitely behave at dinner since I know she will be!
Lisa, thanks for the well wishes for soccer tryouts. I am a little wary of how she will do - she has a game at 9:30am, then will be going horseback riding for a couple hours right afterwards, then tryouts from 6-9pm. Hopefully her little legs can handle all that! I know mine wouldn't! :rotfl:
Tracy, I'm sure your DD's will be fine at the movies.
Great job at the weigh in Amy! You stayed on path and it showed.
Yeah, I woudn't want to pig out in front of some super beautiful/skinny girlfriend of my brother's either! Of course I would behave at dinner, then stop in at Baskin Robbins after we said our goodbye's! I hope its a fun evening for you!
Sounds like dd has a busy weekend, I am sure she will do fine!
So where are you off to for three weeks in 2010?
:cool1::banana::worship:well done for wi Amy :banana:
You are doing fantastic, & such a great attitude :)
Way to go on weigh-in and on getting to the gym this morning!!!!:cheer2: Great job, Amy!:cheer2:
Hope you have a nice weekend!:hug: Have fun at DQ!:wizard:
