lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

:woohoo: on all the progress being made on your house. Wonderful work seems to have gotten done.

Amy, I think your food looks great. You have plenty of vegies in there. Very balanced. Try what Amy said and add something different to your diet. Your body may be hording food since you are working out so much.

Your measurements are great!:banana: That is where you can really see progress. Yes, I think you have merely replaced fat with muscle. Keep up the great work. You will be in that bikini by May.

I gained 1.4lbs OVERNIGHT! Sooo frustrating, but I know it's water, so I'm not going to let it get to me. I'm sure it will screw up my WI on Friday, but what can I do... :confused3

I was sore this morning! Obviously the BL Cardio DVD works different muscles than TurboJam. I was not brave enough to try my new Jillian DVD and I ALMOST took the morning off, but I got up and did Pilates. :thumbsup2 And I plan on doing Shred tonight. I'm too "in the zone" to get derailed.

No more progress on the house, I'm guessing we won't do anything until the weekend again. Just too much going on during the week. I REALLY want the rest of the ceiling installed by Sunday! Ya, how many times have I said that?? :laughing:

For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing (I decided I am sick of salad!); candy cane
S: cucumber; apple
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake
D: ham steak w/apple butter; baked sweet potato fries; green beans; HC fudge bar

E: 50min BL Cardio Max

Avoided: almonds; Cheez-Its (I can tell TOM is near, I am craving junk!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I have some before and during pix on Facebook. It'll be a while for the "after"! And you are right - the weight means nothing, it's all about how I look and being healthy. That is what I need to strive for.
Tracy, I get the protein powder at Hi-Health, but you can get it at the grocery store or Target or anyplace like that. There are all kinds of different brands!
Lisa, thanks. I need to revamp my food, I just haven't had time to put much thought into it. Hopefully this weekend (ya, right!). I really don't think I eat that bad, I swear I am not eating anything that I'm not posting! That's why it's so maddening that I can't lose weight...
Waking up sore is a testimony to how hard you worked yesterday!:thumbsup2
Don't fret about the gain, funny thing, I was also up this morning and I about had a fit but then remembered that I worked out late and that will sometimes do that to me. I'd chalk yours up to impending TOM. By Friday it could very well gone, if not, don't let it get to you! You have been doing really well.
I am sick of salad too!
Hi Amy
sorry about the extra 1.4, but you'll be back down. Probably just water. ::yes:: Wonderful motivation you provide to all of us. Thank you. Being sore and getting right back out there. :worship: I'm such a wimp, I would have taken the day off....even knowing that would be a bad idea.
Kudos to you for avoiding the junk. :goodvibes
:wizard: that your ceiling gets in on Saturday.
I have been extremely tired the past couple evenings, but I managed to get my Shred workout in. I think I am going to do Levels 1,2 and 3 every week (on Tue, Thu, Sat/Sun). They are all 3 good workouts, they each have challenging parts and I sweat during them all! I did do my new Jillian DVD this morning, and it is TOUGH, but not as tough as the Shred. There are some similar moves, but the intensity is not as extreme (because it's 45 min of circuits instead of 20, so I guess she only feels the need to hurt you, not kill you!) I like it and will definitely keep it in my rotation! I will have to plan out my workouts the Sunday before the week since I have so many to choose from! ;) I am still sore, and I'm sure this morning's workout is only going to add to the misery! :confused3
For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover ham steak; 1oz cheddar cheese stick; candy cane (last one!)
S: cucumber; apple
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake
D: wheat spaghetti; sauce w/meatless crumbles; parm cheese; VitaMuffin top; 1/2 graham cracker
E: 40min Pilates; 20min Shred L1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I'm sure the gain is TOM and my sluggish digestive system... :rolleyes1 I was looking at myself in the mirror and I can definitely tell a difference in my upper body. :thumbsup2 I need to stop being so hyper-critical.

Lisa, I can't miss any workouts because I need to tell myself that I am doing everything I can to get into better shape. I need to have something other than my behavior to blame my lack of progress on! :lmao:

Amy, I am going to do Shred today so wish me luck! I finally got it back from my friend so I'll have to let you know what I think. I think your idea of doing all three levels is a good one. That first one (I did watch it last night so I know a bit before I do it today) looks intense so its not like its some half a** workout. Good job getting both Shred and Pilates in yesterday!

Its wired into us to be critical of ourselves. We watch our mom's the whole time we are growing up and then we do it to ourselves! But I do think you have made huge strides with that lately. So good job, you deserve to have yourself be nice to you!:goodvibes

Shred and Pilates yesterday?!?!?! :worship: You are rockin' those workouts, Amy! :rockband:

Thanks for the oatmeal recipe and the protein suggestions. My DH and I may give it a try soon!:goodvibes

Hope you have a great day today!:hug:

(I guess she only feels the need to hurt you, not kill you!)
:lmao:

How are you feeling today? Geez, all these different workouts, no wonder you are so tired. I'm tired just reading about what you do. :goodvibes

Seriously, I do hope you are feeling better today and not as tired. I have read that having variety in workouts and using different muscles actually increases weight loss. So you are really heading in the right direction.

And :woohoo: on seeing a difference in the mirror. I agree with Amy, we are our own biggest critics.

Whew, your post made me sore just to read! You are doing awesome with the exercise. Your body might be sore in the short term but it's going to thank you for it in the long run as you keep seeing the results.

I did not work out this morning. :guilty: I have been SO tired the past couple days and my body is really rebelling. My mind was 100% ready, but my body was just dragging. I didn't want to push my luck and risk an injury, so I skipped it. I still plan on doing Shred today after work, so it's not a total off day. I am already feeling a little more energetic this morning, so I know I made the right choice. :thumbsup2 Weight has been up and down all week, I have NO idea what the scale will say tomorrow. :confused3 All I know is that I am doing the best I can. ::yes::

I have been getting updates about my cousin - he is out of the coma and starting to move his right side, but is still on the respirator. His jaw is wired shut and he gets those wires out next week and hopefully he will be able to get off the respirator then. There is no way to tell how much he will recover from such a traumatic brain injury, so there is still a loooooong road ahead. :sad2: But at least he is making progress. :)

For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, colby jack
S: baby carrots; apple
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake; large handful almonds; 3 Wheat Thins :rolleyes1
D: 2 bowls Raisin Bran Crunch; HC fudge bar (the chicken wasn't thawed!)

E: 55min Jillian Fat Blast (or whatever it's called)

Avoided: going off the deep end w/snacking! :cheer2: I ALMOST went to the vending machine at work, but resisted. Could have done more damage after the almonds, but I put the Wheat Thins away! :banana:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, can't wait to pop over to your journal to see how you liked Shred! I am trying not to obsess about my weight in front of the kids, especially DD. It takes a lot of effort to behave!
Tracy, Pilates was in the morning and Shred was after work. I don't think I could have done them back-to-back! :eek:
Lisa, thanks. I'm hoping my much needed break this morning is just what my body needs to get back into the groove. And weight loss would be nice, I still would like to make my goal of 135 by the end of Feb!
Barb, welcome back from your cruise! I have noticed that some pants still fit well during PMS, so I must have made some real progress! Usually I am busting the seams during that time. :rolleyes:
Good for you for listening to your body, Amy!:thumbsup2 You definitely don't want to risk an injury.
I'm glad to hear that your cousin is out of a coma and is making progress. :hug: Sending prayers his way. Please keep us updated on how he is doing.:hug:
I hope you have a great afternoon!:hug:
P.S. I wanted to ask you...Where do you get the fiber cakes and did you say they were blueberry? Do they come in any other flavors?
Weight this morning was 139.4, a 0.4lb loss from last week. I'll take it because #1 it's TOM bloating time and #2 it's still under 140! My weight was all over the place this week, I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen it 2lbs higher.
Taking yesterday off from working out was the best decision I've made in a while.:thumbsup2 I was going to do Shred, but I was actually feeling energetic and didn't want to blow it, so I took the whole day off. I got back into it this morning by working out, and I will most likely work out tomorrow as well, then take Sunday off.
We usually have a Superbowl party, but not this year. Our house is too much of a wreck! So at least I won't have a party to worry about behaving at! No plans, we will just watch it at the house.
For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: baby carrots; apple
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake; 7 Wheat Thins
D: BBQ chicken bake; cauliflower; VitaMuffin top
S: microwave popcorn (could have done without this! :confused3)
E: none
Avoided: almonds; snacking before dinner (I was scrounging!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my cousin. :hug: I get the fiber cakes at Trader Joes (that's the only place I've seen them). I have seen blueberry or cranberry/apple. I did not like the cranberry/apple as much as the blueberry, but they are not horrible. If you get them, be sure to store them in the freezer because they tend to spoil quickly.

Way to go, Amy!!!:cheer2: Congrats on the weight loss and on being under 140 pounds!!!:cheer2: That is wonderful, especially since TOM is right around the corner. ::yes::

Good for you for giving yourself a day off from your workouts!:thumbsup2 You sound energized by your day of rest. Plus, you got your workout in this morning. Way to go!!!!!:cheer2:

Thanks for the info on the fiber cakes. I just found out that we have a Trader Joe's about 20 minutes from our house. I hope to pop in their soon and see what they have. :goodvibes

Have a great day today!:hug:

Wonderful news about your cousin Amy. and how is your Aunt doing?

You were very right to take a day off. Great job listening to your body. I always make sure to take at least one day off a week. Right now, sometimes more...:rolleyes1

:woohoo: for the loss, and pants still fitting well. :banana: The really shows changes for the better. You are doing great. Slowly but surely, you will get there. :thumbsup2

Amy, that is great news about your cousin! That is so scary, I will really pray that he continues to improve. The brain is amazing as to how much it can heal and recover.

And a big congrats on that nice weight loss! Given your TOM thing, it proves how hard you have been working!

Did you know Superbowl is the second biggest eating day of the year (behind Thanksgiving). So its good you aren't having a party because it will cut down on your oppotunity it overeat!

I keep forgetting to tell you I had those TRader Joe's fiber cakes in October when we went out to see Dan's dad. I wish I had a TJ's near me!

I have been really wanting to snack lately! I hate it when I get like that. The good thing is that I am not going completely overboard, like I used to. So I guess that is progress made...

Today DD has her honors orchestra tryouts, then I will work on taxes and DH will work on the ceiling. I REALLY hope it gets done soon! Time to move on to more fun things, like picking out cabinets, appliances and countertops!

For Friday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, colby jack
S: baby carrots; apple
S: 1 serving Quaker mini rice cakes; fiber cake; large handful almonds (I need to lay off these! :confused3)
D: 2 eggs overeasy; 1 piece wheat toast-n-butter; 4 strips turkey bacon; HC fudge bar
S: 100 cal pack cookies :rolleyes1

E: 50min BL Cardio Max

Avoided: more turkey bacon :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, you will love Trader Joes, they have all kinds of different and healthy stuff. Mine is not even that far away, it's just inconvenient and I only go when I'm in the area. I stopped making special trips there because I'd only go for the fiber cakes and a couple times they were out! :eek:
Lisa, thanks! My aunt has fully recovered from her stroke, which is so wonderful. :goodvibes I have been taking one day off a week on the weekend, but apparently my body was ready for a break during the week.
Amy, I had no idea Superbowl was the 2nd biggest eating day! But judging from my behavior at past parties, I can believe it... :rolleyes1 Did you like the fiber cakes? Which kind did you have? I really love those things! :lovestruc
Amy, I hope the ceiling gets done today, I agree there are some way more fun aspects to this remodel to look forward to! Wow taxes and home improvements on the same day, you guys just do all the fun stuff!:rotfl:
Almonds are tough but they are so good for you. At least you know you are getting such valuable nutritional benefits with that snack.
Yeah, I was surprised that Super Bowl was a bigger eating day than Christmas but it makes sense. I know I"ve done my part to make that happen!
Can't remember which fiber cakes I got. But I do remember I really liked them. We are getting a natural market right up the street from me (not a Trader Joes) and I am hoping they'll have a similar product.
Sending some :wizard::wizard: for your DD's tryout, your taxes, and the ceiling! Hopefully, you'll be to the fun part of the remodeling process soon. :goodvibes
Thanks for the fiber cake info. I hope to get to Trader Joe's soon to check everything out. :thumbsup2
Great job on your workout!!!:cheer2:
Hope you have a nice Saturday!:hug:
Yep, definitely progress on the snacking. :thumbsup2 Cravings seem to be a part of life...it's all in learning how to handle them.
Yesterday was a disaster! Food was out of control... I WILL NOT let that happen today. :mad:
The one good thing that happened is DD made the honors orchestra! :cool1: So proud of her. I felt bad because when she came out of the audition, she was beet red and sweating. I have never seen her nervous like that, even when she was doing dance recitals. She messed up a couple times during the audition (her teacher and I were listening at the door), but he said she was playing Jr High pieces that had higher points, so even if she messed up a little, she could score higher than if she aced some easier songs. :) He called her last night to tell her the news, I was not expecting to hear so quickly!
We got one piece of drywall up yesterday, and will HOPEFULLY get the rest up today! There isn't too much left. Most of the morning was spent on doing taxes, we had just been throwing all receipts for our rental property into a folder and it took forever to sort everything out... :confused3
For Saturday:
B: 2 bowls Raisin Bran Crunch w/skim
L: FlatOut wrap w/3 pieces turkey bacon, spinach, mustard, colby jack; 2 servings Quaker mini cheddar cheese crisps; 100 cal pack Chips Ahoy
S: large handful almonds; fiber cake
S: large handful almonds; 2 servings Quaker mini caramel corn crisps :guilty:
D: taco pasta salad (turkey taco meat, red pepper, wheat rotini); VitaMuffin top
S: 2 handfuls microwave popcorn
E: 55min Jillian
Avoided: nothing, obviously... :sad2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I'm pretty sure I'm doing more damage than benefit when I hammer down 1000 calories of almonds in a single day... :rolleyes1 I hope that natural market has some good things for you (and decent prices!)

Tracy, thanks! Taxes are just about done, so that is a huge relief. I'm sure the ceiling progress will not be as much as I'd like because of the Superbowl, but we are up early and need to get started early!

Barb, had a minor setback yesterday with snacking, but I hated the way I felt and I don't want to go there again anytime soon!
