lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

Congrats to your DD!!!:cool1:

It sounds like the ceiling is almost done!:banana: Sending more :wizard::wizard: your way.

I hear you on the taxes thing. My DH owns his own business and right now, we have receipts everywhere. I need to start organizing them so we can get the ball rolling on this thing. April 15th isn't that far off....

Hope you have a great Sunday!:hug:

Woo hoo, that's great for DD!

And even to you stumbled yesterday, it's just more motivation for a better today.

Amy: Don't let yesterday get you down. There will always be days like that and its the next day that sets the tone!

If you find those almonds are too much temptation, maybe don't buy them for awhile. I am betting you got back on track today!

Hope the drywall thing is coming right along!:)

And that is GREAT news about dd! She is quite the young achiever on all levels (like her mom)! You have a lot to be proud of with both of your kids. That is nice he called you so quick, the waiting is always the hardest part!

Amy
:banana:wonderful news about your DD. :banana: What instrument does she play? Congratulations to her.

Were you all able to get up some more drywall? I do hope so. Designing the kitchen was one of the things I enjoyed most when we built our house. Hopefully you will get to the fun stage soon. :goodvibes

I'm glad the weekend is over - well, foodwise anyway... ;) NOT GOOD! :confused3 I've done way worst in the past, but I was definitely regressing! Focus this week will be on food. I have the exercise under control, and I am not willing and/or able to do any more on that front, so the focus must be on food. I have gotten sloppy about not measuring and I'm probably eating way more calories than I think. So, I will start by measuring and tracking on FitDay again, starting today! I already had one eye-opener - I have easily been doubling the amount of peanut butter in my chocolate oatmeal, in addition to overfilling the 1/3c on the oatmeal. :rolleyes1 This morning everything was measured out and guess what, it still tasted good! ;)

Ceiling is up!!! :cool1: There is still a lot of drywall work to be done, but that pales in comparison to the ceiling. Taxes are also done! :banana: And we will be able to pay for all our new appliances with the refund, which is way cool! :thumbsup2

For Sunday:
B: 2 bowls Raisin Bran Crunch w/skim milk
L: FlatOut wrap w/4 pieces turkey bacon, spinach, mustard, provolone
S: 1 serving Wheat Thins; fiber cake
S: huge serving of crockpot apple dessert
D: 2 slices homemade pepperoni pizza; serving of crockpot apple dessert :rolleyes1

E: none

Avoided: almonds (DH ate the rest!)

Tracy, I was glad to get the taxes done! I usually wait until the end of Feb to file, just in case we get a wayward form in the mail, but it looks like we have everything covered, based on last year's return. Adding the rental last year increased the workload, but we shouldn't have that many receipts in future years, since we completely redid the entire house already!

Barb, I recovered a little yesterday, but still need to get a grip on the weekends!

Amy, if it was up to me, I would never have nuts in the house. But DH is actually able to eat a normal sized portion in one sitting and he is the one who buys them. I just need to steer clear of them! Maybe I'll pretend they have mold on them :laughing: I am very proud of DD, she is a great kid. :goodvibes

Lisa, she plays the violin. She has told me she wants to play soccer and the violin forever. :) We have the kitchen plan all laid out, and will soon be shopping for all the fun stuff! I think by the end of Feb we will be ready to begin that final stage. :thumbsup2

Great news about the ceiling and the taxes!!!:banana:

When I first started WW, I realized my portions were totally skewed. :eek: I started reading nutritional labels and found that when I thought I was having one or two servings of things, I was often having four or five. :eek: It really is eye opening that's for sure. ::yes:: Measuring your food and plugging it in to Fit Day sounds like a great idea!:thumbsup2

I hope you have a nice day ahead!:hug:

Amy, I am so glad you got your ceiling up and that your taxes are done! Wow, that must be an awesome refund! Beats the heck out of financing a purchase that large.

Its so easy to get sloppy with our food, so its great you are on top of that before it gets to be an issue. I know you'll have that well under control in no time!

As for the nuts, I struggle with those too, but I am looking at my almonds as something almost more like a vitamin. I know the first time I eat them in conjunction with a drink or think of them as grazing type food, I'll be sunk. Its so hard with nuts, a very small amount is overeating them and they are so darn good! Good luck with that, if all else fails, make dh put them in a place only he knows about!

Amy, you all were certainly busy this weekend. Congrats on getting the ceiling AND getting your taxes done. :woohoo: and you are getting a refund! :banana::banana::banana: I'll bet you were smiling all day yesterday.:goodvibes

I used to measure all of my food. Way back when I first started out (25 years ago) and had very little $$, I would buy stuff based on the number of servings listed. Then I would measure, to make sure it lasted how long I needed it to. Especially cereal. I also weighed 100lbs back then. I have gotten out of the habit the past few years. That is a very good idea you have. :thumbsup2

I survived my first day of measuring everything out! And I was probably eating about 400-500 extra calories a day! :eek: What I was doing is obviously fine for maintaining, but not for losing. So, I will try to stick to around 1200-1300 calories a day and see how it goes. I tried this in the past and quickly got frustrated because I still didn't have too much success, but I will give it another try. ;)

I was disappointed this morning, when I tried to do my Pilates Sculpt DVD, it wouldn't work in our new DVD player. I didn't want to wake DH by doing it in the bedroom, so I switched to Pilates instead. Which is better than nothing, I suppose. :confused3 I am planning on doing Shred tonight. I only did it once last week, I hope it doesn't hurt me too bad!

For Monday:
1234 cal; 33g fat; 156g carbs; 94g protein; 45g fiber
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/red pepper; turkey taco meat
S: baby carrots; apple; V8
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake
D: turkey chili; HC fudge bar

E: 50min BL Cardio Max

Avoided: bite of DH's graham cracker; eating more than 1 serving of hummus; ice cream
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I was easily eating 3 servings of hummus, and at 90cal/serving, that adds up! So now I'm back to measuring it out. No fun, but it must be done! :rolleyes:
Amy, the refund is nice and couldn't have come at a better time. We usually barely scrape by on federal but for some reason get a large refund on state. :confused3 DH gets the huge Costco bag of nuts (this weekend he got pecans) and it is all or nothing for me. I haven't been tempted by the pecans yet, and now that I am tracking calories, I am too scared to have any! :eek:
Lisa, that is a really good habit to get into! I should do that too. I make my kids count out serving sizes of chips, crackers, etc, and I have been getting way better at counting out "bad' things like that. Baby steps! :goodvibes
Omg, pecans would unhinge me! Those are the nuts I can't stay out of. And if they are baked in a pie, I like them even better!
Its amazing how those unmeasured tid bits of food add up. I had a weight watchers leader that called those "BLT's" for bites, licks and tastes. 400-500 calories is very easy to have slipping under the radar. I know you can keep losing. Just remember your losses will likely be small because a small loss to you with your body weight is actually a very big loss on the scale!
I hope your DVD will work in your other DVD player at some point, I hate it when that happens. But good job just putting in another DVD. I would have probably just been so irritated I would have bagged the whole thing!;)
Great job getting your Pilates workout in when the other DVD didn't work!:cheer2:
I hope you have a nice evening!:hug:
YEAH for the ceiling & taxes!!! That's gotta leave you feeling really good!
Measuring is such a pain, but really helpful & eye opening. kind of scary sometimes, too!
Have you been getting all the rain? We seem to miss just about everything, which seems to make nearly everyone her happy....except me!
Have a great rest of the week! Any more travel in your near future?
I did really good yesterday with food, except I didn't eat dinner until about 8:15pm! I HATE eating that late, but time was not on my side yesterday! I had to stop at Walgreens on the way home to get some sports tape for DD (her brace cuts into the back of her heel when she has her shin guard on), then got home at 5pm, had a quick snack, got DD ready for practice. As soon as she was picked up at 5:30, I got changed, chatted with DH for a few and did Shred. That was done around 6:15, then I immediately started cutting veggies for stir fry. It wasn't finished until 7pm, and at that time I had to leave to pick up the girls from soccer! Sooo... 25min drive there, DD's practice ran about 10min late, 30min drive back after dropping everyone off = late dinner. :confused3
DH got a gift card to Applebees for Christmas so he wants to take us there tonight (it's not our fave place to go). I already scoped out the menu and will be getting something off the 550cal or less menu. And I am assuming it's 550cal on FitDay. I will skip my afternoon snack to make up for the extra calories at dinner. I will also skip the cocktails, and that will be tough! ;)
For Tuesday:
1236 cal, 37g fat, 154g carb, 85g protein, 41g fiber
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: baby carrots; apple
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake
D: chicken stir-fry w/brown rice; HC fudge bar
E: 40min Pilates; 20min Shred L1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, thanks for bringing me back to reality. You are right, a 1lb loss for my size is a high percentage of total body weight. I swear, I want to be on Biggest Loser just for 1 week, to see if I can lose 5lbs! :rolleyes:

Tracy, I actually tried to go back to bed in my workout clothes, but my mind wasn't tired anymore, so I got back up and worked out. And I was glad I did!

Julie, we haven't gotten any rain since a couple weeks ago when it rained for 4-5 days straight. It is supposed to rain today, but we'll see about that... I have a short trip to India coming up next month probably, then a 3 week trip from hell to India sometime this summer. I can't wait to get that one over with!

Amy, if you get any steamed veggies at Applebees be sure and tell them you want them without butter. I can't tell you how many times I have had to send back veggies glistening with butter! Applebee's isn't my fave either (but my mom and stepdad loved to go there, hence my long experience with the place lol).

I had a night like yours last night too, I HATE those kinds of nights. But you stuck with your stir fry and eating something healty late, is better than eating something unhealthy early!

Have a great day, with proper planning you can make Applebee's work very well!

3 weeks in India for work does NOT sound like fun!!

Hope applebee's went ok. Not my fav either, but there is one convenient just down the street.....but the pizza next door to it is better!

Hope today goes more smoothly & you can eat before 8 p.m. That is the pits!

Have a great day!

Ahhhh, the best laid plans... We did go to Applebees and I was shocked to see that it was packed! It's snowbird season and they must have some great senior specials or something. I told DH if the wait was more than 10 minutes, we were leaving. We only waited about 5 minutes. We got seated, everyone ordered and we waited. Got the appetizer (mozzarella sticks) And waited, and waited, and waited. The waiter came by, apologized for the delay and brought chips and salsa... I was starving by this time (45 minutes into it!) so I caved and had a cheese stick. We FINALLY got our dinner, and they had messed up DD's (she ordered mashed potatoes and they brought fries) so I taught her that it's OK to tell them they messed up and to get what she ordered. She timidly told the waiter about the mix-up and he brought the mashed potatoes right out. They also screwed up DS and DH's steaks - DH had mushrooms and onions added and mashed potatoes, DS's was plain with fries. The mushroom and onion steak came with fries, and vice versa... Mine was actually really tasty! So, after all that hoopla, the manager came over and said he was providing dessert on the house. Now, WHO in their right mind can refuse that?? So instead of ordering one of the little dessert shooters, I order a huge dessert and ate everything but about 3 bites... :sad2: Definitely my splurge day!! I am OK with that, I usually have one a week, I just need to behave over the weekend!

For Wednesday:
2166 cal :eek:, 91g fat :scared1:, 221g carbs, 78g protein, 32g fiber
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/ham, spinach, mustard, provolone
S: baby carrots; apple
S: fiber cake
D: mozzarella stick; grilled chicken w/portobello; steamed veggies; blondie brownie w/ice cream and maple butter sauce :guilty:

E: 55min Jillian

Avoided: snacking after work/before dinner; more mozzarella sticks; cocktail during dinner :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, the veggies came without butter since they were part of the 550 calorie or less menu, but thanks for the tip! I learned that at Outback, they drench the veggies in it (just like my mom! :)). Yes, planning works well when you actually stick to it... :rolleyes1
Tracy, see above for the diet disaster!
Julie, we didn't eat until after 7:30, but that was not under our control! And I am not looking forward to the 3 weeker to India, especially because we will be going to 3 different locations and one of them is in the middle of the desert, one is in the Himalayas (10,500ft elevation) and the other is at least in a major city.
Oh, well...the best laid plans......at least you liked the food!! :)
Isn't outsourcing wonderful? And people wonder why they can't find jobs in the US.......hmmmmmmm..........
Omg, three weeks in India? You have mine and my husband's deepest sympathy. That's a lot of possible Dehli Belly!
I am telling you, the senior crowd loves Applebees.;) My parents and all their friends would go there at least once a week. My mom is probably up in heaven chowing on Applebees french onion soup and their oriental chicken salad at this exact moment!
Yeah, Outback loves to put butter on the veggies, just like my mom too!
In spite of the dessert thing, you did very well there.
Did you say 3 weeks in India?!?!?!:eek:
I think you did a great job at Applebees! :goodvibes The dessert sounds yummy!:goodvibes
Hope you have a nice weekend!:hug: Any special plans for V Day?
