lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

There was soccer carpool drama last night, so I had to deal with that... :rolleyes: I didn't end up doing AbJam after work, but I did do Shred. And I'm OK with that. It's just a 20min ab workout and that is not really my problem area. I will make up for it by doing it this weekend instead.

DD's foot is still bothering her, I think I am going to have to take her to get a brace for soccer. I know once you twist it, it is super easy to twist it again, and that is what she is running into. Her first tournament is coming up in 2 weeks, so I want her to be the best she can be!

For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing; candy cane
S: baby carrots
S: handful almonds; red pepper-n-hummus
D: turkey sloppy joe on wheat; carrots; VitaMuffin top

E: 40min TurboSculpt; 20min Shred L3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa, I never make no-bakes for that exact reason! I'm the only one who can't seem to eat just one. Plus all the little crumbles have to be eaten too... :rolleyes1 If DH went out golfing instead of working on the kitchen, he would have went straight to the end step of the doghouse method!
Barb, dysfunctional is right! We have one dept that is a total wreck, morale stinks, etc and we had to have a meeting to get it all out in the open and try to resolve years of angst. Ya, not gonna happen in one meeting, folks... :confused3
Amy, I can't wait to get that ceiling on this weekend!!!! Then we get to start the popcorn ceiling (not fun), then the fun part about picking out new cabinets, appliances and countertops. It'll be a long, slow process, but it will be well worth the wait. :goodvibes
Tracy, I did get 2 workouts in yesterday! And this morning I did my Cardio Party with these weight gloves, I bet my arms will be feeling it tomorrow (they are already a little tight right now!)
Amy
You are dealing with drama on top of drama. Wow! I hide at my desk when stuff like that starts. Good luck there and with the carpool drama.
Hope the brace helps DD's foot. You will have to let us know how the tournament is.
I hope the work and soccer carpool drama are over for you soon. :wizard:
I hear you about the no bakes! Even the little crumbles as well. ;) I love those cookies and only make them once a year for a reason. ;)
Great job getting your workouts in!!!:cheer2:
Hope you have a great afternoon!:hug:
Hi Amy,
Good attidue on the workout. Sometimes life happens and you have to do what you have to do. Hmmm, carpool drama. Let me guess, one of those nice ladies you carpool with turned female dog on ya? Drama at work, drama with soccer car pool, drama with your friend Amy out in Colorado. Its DRAMA WEEK!
Your food looks awesome as always.
What are no bake cookies? I am intrigued.;)
Carpool drama on top of work! drama? Ugh!
Sounds like the Shred DVD was plenty.
Poor DD, I hope her foot gets better soon.
I am very proud of myself! Last night when I got home, I scarfed down some snacks (way too many, but :confused3) then took DD to get her ankle brace and to Michaels to get supplies for a school project ($30 later - she better get an A!). The Michaels was right by Trader Joes, so I got 4 packs of my fave blueberry fiber cakes!!! So, by the time we got back, it was after 6:30 and I just wanted to throw in the towel and either order pizza or go out to eat. But, I told myself that we are most likely going out on Friday, so I made my planned dinner instead. :cheer2: And I was glad I did.
Tomorrow is my last TurboJam workout! I can't believe I made it a whole month. :thumbsup2 It is definitely a great workout, I can really tell a difference in my arms, legs and butt. No real change on the scale, but I know I'll look way better in my swimsuit this summer! I will keep it in my rotation, after taking a week off from it.
For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, colby jack; candy cane (why am I the only one eating these??)
S: cucumber
S: red pepper-n-hummus; 1 serving RF Cheez-Its; 1/2 100cal pack Chips Ahoy :rolleyes1
D: baked lemon chicken breast; broccoli; fiber cake; HC fudge bar
E: 45min TJ Cardio Party
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa, work has calmed down a little, but now for some reason I am stuck trying to coordinate getting Indian visas for 14 people. How that relates to my job as lead engineer is beyond me...

Tracy, I can't even tell you the last time I made no-bakes, because it was a disaster for me! :eek:

Amy, the problem was that the girl of the mom who takes on Tue was sick, so she wasn't able to take. Oh ya, and one of the other girls wasn't going either... And this all came to a head at about 4pm (practice is at 6!). It all worked out in the end, it's just a pain! I will do you a favor and NOT send you the recipe, no-bakes are evil! They are made by melting cocoa, butter and sugar (and maybe a couple other things), then combining that with oatmeal and peanut butter then refrigerating them. Yep, crack on a cookie sheet!

Barb, I also hope DD's foot gets better. She wants to wear the brace to recess and PE in addition to soccer practice. I guess it can't hurt for a while.

WOW!!!! it's January and you are already planning bathing suits. :worship: Proud of you for sticking to your workouts. So, have you come to a verdict yet? Gym or DVDs?

So, you are an engineer. I work with engineers...:rolleyes1. Mine don't know how to follow directions. :sad2: of course, they are all men......:rolleyes1

I think your food looks real good.

Weight this morning was 139.8. A 0.2lb GAIN from last week. WHY CAN'T I LOSE WEIGHT?????????????? :sad1: I have been tracking my weekly weigh-ins and it is just so pathetic! I have worked out 6x per week since the beginning of the year, and I have lost a total of 0.6lbs. :mad: There is no way I can work out any harder than I am, I am even working out 2x a day sometimes. It has to be my food. I am going to really have to think about my food and revamp the way I'm eating. I don't think I eat that bad. I doubt a daily fudge bar and the occasional binge on Cheez-Its is keeping me from losing weight.

I know I said I wouldn't get frustrated about it this year, and I am trying to not let it get to me, but I just had to vent, get it out of my system and move on...

For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing; candy cane
S: cucumber
S: red pepper-n-hummus; fiber cake
D: burrito made w/FlatOut wrap; turkey meat; cheese; hot sauce; HC fudge bar

E: 40min TurboSculpt; 20min Shred L3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa, I live in AZ, I am ALWAYS thinking about bathing suits! I have a drawer full of them and of course I hate them all... :rolleyes1 I am going to not renew my gym membership, I feel I have gotten more effective workouts at home. And I can always use the free gym at work if I have the urge to use a treadmill! :rolleyes: Yes, I am an engineer and 99% of my co-workers are men. :confused3
redlight, it's all about the planning! ;)
That gain has to be muscle. You're doing too much work not to be burning off fat. Focus on how your body is looking and how your clothes are fitting, not that annoying scale.
Good for you for making the choice not to give in to pizza or going out the other night! :thumbsup2
Sending a :hug:your way. I know that the scale is frustrating you right now. Mine is frustrating me too! We could have a scale bashing party. That will burn some extra calories and make us feel better too!:cool1: ;)
Please don't get discouraged. You are doing an amazing job getting your workouts in and your food choices look good too. Keep up the good work!:cheer2:
Hope you have a nice weekend!:hug:
Hi Amy, don't let that weigh in get you down! That small of a gain could be a few sips of water that didn't make their way out of your system.
Have you ever thought about eating a bit more? I know you had me figure your points once and you were right on target for someone of your weight, height, age and activity level. But some people need more food. Maybe try adding a teaspoon of olive oil to something you eat (or canoloa oil). My WW leader was just today talking to a lady who is within five pounds of her goal and she said that adding a bit more fat can bust a plateau with active people who can't get the scale to move. I have put canola oil in yogurt or drizzled it on to meat or chicken. Can't even taste it.
Just hang in there.
And Miss Lisa sent me that no bake cookie recipe! Those are the same ones my sil makes, they call them doo doo cookies cause that's what they look like. I may hold off on making those, they look like trouble (yeah, crack on a cookie sheet :rotfl:)
Have a super weekend!
A change of less than a pound isn't worth getting upset about. Are you noticing any changes in how your clothes fit? Do you measure?
We have 1/2 the ceiling up! At least there is no longer a breeze coming into the kitchen and hopefully no more blown insulation will appear on my countertops every morning... I guess it is harder than DH thought, because sometimes he had to add wood support beams because the drywall doesn't always perfectly line up with the studs. But, progress is being made!
Still a little miffed about my weight, but I'm getting over it. I am going to look through my Body for Life for Women and regular Body for Life books again. I am OK eating strict during the day, but it's the dinners that are tough. I don't want to restrict my eating at dinner, because I don't want to give the impression to my kids (especially DD) that I think I am fat, since I am technically not considered overweight, I wear medium sized clothes and Size 8 pants. When I put it like that, I start to think I am insane, since a lot of people would be totally thrilled to be my size. It's a personal pride/mental thing, which is why I can't just be happy with how I am! :rolleyes:
OK, enough of that pity party. For Friday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, colby jack; candy cane
S: cucumber
S: fiber cake; red pepper-n-hummus (very little, need to cut up more peppers!)
D (out): 2 pieces ciabbata bread, no butter; chicken cannelloni in cream sauce (so fattening, but SO good!)
S: HC fudge bar
E: 45min TurboSculpt
Avoided: wine with dinner; going for ice cream after dinner; cleaning my plate (stopped when I was full!) :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Barb, my body definitely looks better, but my clothes don't fit much differently. I need to be patient, it's only been a month of serious workouts, I need to give it time.

Tracy, thanks for your encouragement. I always want Biggest Loser results!

Amy, the thought of eating more makes me cringe! I remember the Body for Life Women book mentioning the oil, I may have to give it a try. I recommend NOT making the no-bake cookies! You are doing too good right now to go down that path! :laughing:

redlight, I did sneak some measurements earlier in the week, and the only noticeable change was in my waist, which was small to begin with! I will post measurements tomorrow.

Yesterday was pretty bad with food and drink. Definitely my splurge day for the week! DH was busy scraping off popcorn ceiling (he got the entire dining room and living room done! :banana:) and there is a layer of fine dust EVERYWHERE. We went to a lighting store and purchased new lighting for the kitching and dining room. We got a large light for the kitchen (we used to have those yucky flourescent lights), and 2 small pendant lights for over the island (that we don't even have yet), and a matching light for the dining room (there is currently a ceiling fan, which I HATE!). We won't be installing them until the ceiling is finished and painted. Can't wait!!!

OK, I took some measurements to see if I was making any progress whatsoever. A little progress has been made, of course mostly in the areas I don't need it (think chest!!! :sad2:). But it's only been a month, if I keep it up I should be able to feel comfortable in my bikini this summer. :thumbsup2

I'll do before (Jan 4) and after (Jan 31):
Chest: B-34"; A-33" (if this keeps up I will be sharing training bras w/DD10!)
Arms: B-11.5"; A-11.5" (but they are definitely more toned :cheer2:)
Waist: B-29"; A-28"
Hips: B-38.5"; A-38"
Thighs: B-22"; A-21"

Weight: B-140.4lb; A-139.4lb

I will take my measurements again at the end of Feb, to see if any more progress has been made.

For Saturday:
B: chocolate oatmeal; grande NF chai latte
L: 1 serving RF Cheez-Its; fiber cake; 2 bites sloppy joe meat
S: 2 bowls Chocolate Cheerios; large handful almonds; large handful macadamia nut pieces :rolleyes1
D: macadamia crusted mahi mahi; corn; 100cal pack cookies; 2.5 glasses white wine

E: none

Good job! You're losing inches, which means you must be gaining muscle while losing fat.

It sounds like some good progress is being made on the ceiling! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the inches lost!:cheer2:

When you get a chance, can you post your oatmeal recipe again?:flower3: I wrote it down somewhere and misplaced the piece of paper. :blush:

Hope you have a great Monday!:hug:

I ALMOST skipped Shred yesterday, but I ended up doing it. But let me tell you, if you want a good upper body workout forget the gym - try hanging drywall on the ceiling! :eek: My shoulders were SCREAMING and I was wishing I hadn't done Shred before lifting those heavy, awkward pieces. The hard part was trying to get it cut right to fit into the opening. We had to lift and lower and manipulate a 4x6 sheet 9 times (yes, 9!) before it fit!!! Then we hung another one, thankfully that was only 3x4 and only took 3 times... We still have more ceiling to install, but it's almost there! :cool1:

I did the Biggest Loser cardio DVD this morning. And of course I think I am in such awesome shape that I skipped right to the Week 5-6 workouts, which is all 3 levels of cardio in a 50min workout. It was definitely a workout, but I didn't feel like I was going to die or anything. It was very distracting for me because everyone doesn't go at the same pace, and that tends to throw me off. You know, me being the engineer, I want everything perfectly timed! Tomorrow I am going to attempt Jillian's Fat Burning workout. It said it is 7 circuits. 30 Day Shred is 3 circuits and if this is anything like that I will die. Plain and simple. It can't possibly be 50min of that intensity, so I will let you know. If I don't post tomorrow, you'll know I didn't make it! :laughing:

For Sunday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, colby jack; 1 serving RF Cheez-Its; 1 fiber cake
S: cucumber; 1 VitaMuffin top
D: 2 slices ham-n-pineapple pizza; HC fudge bar

E: 20min Shred L2 (for me this is harder than L3!)

Avoided: almonds! and oversnacking (I was on the prowl, but didn't want 2 bad days in a row) :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
redlight, I am happy that I am seeing some results, I just need to be patient. Not my strongest suit! ;)
Tracy, the recipe is:
1/3 c oatmeal (I use Quaker Old Fashioned)
1/2 c water
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I use the Hi-Health brand quick mix kind)
Mix these together and microwave for about 1:45. Stir in 1 tbsp peanut butter, add a little skim milk and enjoy!
I think that is some serious measurement progress! That is quite a bit inches you have lost given the fact your measurements are basically on target anyway. I would take that over the scale any day. Because seriously, that weight may be very close to your ideal weight but if you can lose inches, then you are going to be in size 6 pants not 8's!
Glad you are making progress with the ceiling. I hope you took before and after pictures!
