lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

wow you are very busy right now!!
well done on the loss :)
brag away about DD - you must be so proud of her :)
I had to re-read your post about popcorn ceiling - not really heard of that, but i first thought you said you had to remove popcorn stuck on the ceiling!!!

OK, it's time to get a grip on my eating!!! This weekend was not good with food. I've done way worst in the past, but I am still not happy with how things went. I was constantly on the prowl for food yesterday. :guilty: I'm sure it was all psychological - the house is in such disarray, so everything is out of whack. But it's going to be like that for a while, so I need to deal with it.

For Sunday:
B: chocolate oatmeal; grande non-fat chai latte from Starbucks
L: FlatOut wrap w/chicken, spinach, mustard, cheddar; 100 cal pack Cheez-Its; 2 graham crackers
S: handful almonds
D: 2 bowls Froot Loops
S: microwave popcorn (whole bag!) :sad2:

E: none (a glorious day off!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, popcorn ceiling is a horrible texture they put on the ceiling in the '70's. It looks like popcorn, hence the name!
No worries on the food, Amy. :hug:Today is a new day and I know you can do a great job today!!!:cheer2:
I am so sorry about the Cards. :( We were rooting for them to win! I would love to see a Super Bowl with the Colts and the Vikings. I would definitely tune in for that one!:happytv:
Great job getting that Shred workout in!:cheer2: I'm almost afraid to ask this, but how much harder do you think Level 2 is than Level 1? I haven't previewed the workout, but I'm a little nervous about progressing up to the next level. :blush:
Hope you have a great day!:hug:
Hi Amy
Sorry about the Cards. We (I) really expected them to win. DH told me last night that the Saints game next week is Sunday evening. Think I will be taking Gram and the girls out to dinner to avoid being around DH and DS yelling and jumping around during the game.
Brett Favre went to a rival school from mine and I got to see him play in high school. Should be a very interesting game Sunday.
Make sure you wear protective equipment when you work on the ceiling and take a really good shower when you are done. That popcorn ceiling can be some nasty stuff. and if there is abestos in it, you want to be super careful.
Congrats to your DD!:cheer2: Sounds like she is doing awesome in school and extra curricular activities. Brag all you want. We love to hear about it.
Way to go on working out. I can go weeks without losing anything and then one or two only to gain it back. Since I have started this, I have lost 12lbs in 10 months. You'll get there. You really will. ::yes::
Amy, I am not sure I could do half as well as you given the stress you are enduring with the house renovation! Just hang in there and don't let the stress undo your accomplishments! The last time Dan and I had to do this much work to a house it was so stressful. But worth it!
So sorry about the Cardinals, I am betting they will be a huge force to be reckoned with next year! Good job leaving a bad game for a great workout!
I didn't do Shred last night, but I am going to do it Tue, Thu and Sat this week. Since I only have to pick the girls up from soccer on Tuesdays @ 7:30pm, I have plenty of time of Tue and Thu this week! ;)
DH is trying to only work on the house during the weekends, but it is really cold in the kitchen right now - I can basically look up at the roof and he took a lot of the insulation down. I am going to have to try to pursuade without nagging for him to do something about that before this weekend! He is not the one in there making dinner, doing dishes, making breakfast and lunches, etc, so he is not bothered by it like I am. If he doesn't get the hint, I will start nailing boards up there to cover it up, which will spur him into action! :lmao:
For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, cheddar; candy cane
S: baby carrots; apple
S: red peppers-n-hummus
D: 2 slices ham-n-pineapple pizza; SC ice cream sandwich
E: 45min TJ Cardio Party
Avoided: almonds and microwave popcorn! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, L2 is harder than L1 in some areas, but easier in others, if that makes sense. There are a lot of plank pose moves, which are tough, and a lot of stationary squats/lunges with arm weights. L2 cardio is harder for me. It's a good workout. I think I am going to do L3 tonight... :eek:

Lisa, I sure wish the Cardinals would have stepped up their game, but it was not meant to be this year. That's OK, I'll survive! :laughing: I am like you, I lose weight EXTREMELY slowly. I toy with the same 3-4lbs for months, then I'll finally drop a couple for real, then toy with the next 3-4lbs for a couple more months, etc... :confused3

Amy, the house reno is stressful! I HATE being cold and right now the kitchen is freezing and it's so aggravating! But it will be worth it in the end, and I know we will be back to having a ceiling this weekend. Patience was never my strong suit... :rolleyes1

LOL, I can just picturing you nailing up those boards.

Sounds like a good plan with the Shred. At least you know you'll have plenty of time to work it into your schedule.

If he doesn't get the hint, I will start nailing boards up there to cover it up, which will spur him into action! :lmao:

:rotfl::thumbsup2

Have a great week Amy - i hope DH doesnt find bits of ceiling in his dinner, you know how easily that could happen ;)

Amy
Your food looked wonderful for yesterday and the workout you got in.:thumbsup2

Here's a bit of :wizard: that you can get DH to get a little motivation to take care of the kitchen ceiling.

Thanks for the Shred info. :goodvibes It will be a little while before I get to Level 2. I got a Zumba DVD at the library I will probably try tomorrow.

Sending some :wizard::wizard: your way....I hope your DH takes the hint and fixes the kitchen ceiling thing for you. Like Tracey said, he wouldn't want any ceiling in his dinner. ;)

Have a good evening, WISH sis!:hug:

I survived Shred Level 3! :cool1: Actually, for me it was easier than some parts of L2, but there were definitely a couple moves (jumping lunges, rockstar jumps and traveling pushups) that were WAY harder. So, I think I will do 5 workouts of L3, then back to L1 and do 5 of those, then back to L2 for 5, and keep that pattern going. L2 got me sweating the most of all 3 levels.

I go to the Dr today, to get my test results. I am hoping there is some explanation as to why my hair is getting so thin and why I can work out like a mad woman, eat healthy and still struggle to lose weight. But I have a feeling he is going to tell me I am the picture of good health and that my hair loss is hereditary or something! :eek: Oh well, at least I'll know there is nothing medically wrong with me. ;)

For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: baby carrots; apple
S: red peppers-n-hummus
D: baked chicken parmesan; zucchini; SC ice cream sandwich

E: 40min TJ TurboSculpt; 20min Shred L3

Avoided: almonds; Twinkie :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Barb, DD's practice was canceled due to rain and we are getting another huge storm front coming in tomorrow, so I bet it will be canceled again! That makes it easy to work out in the afternoons!
Tracey, too funny! :laughing: He is lucky he didn't have any insulation sprinkles on his chicken last night... I talked to him about the ceiling and basically he can't do anything until this weekend because he needs to rewire a couple things before he puts the ceiling on, and that takes 2 people and lots of time. So, I told him I guess I could tough it out until this weekend, but that the ceiling HAS to be on by Sunday!
Lisa, thanks. Our ceiling is still not up, and we have found a couple holes in the roof thanks to all of this recent rain... :sad2:
Tracy, let me know how you like the Zumba DVD. I need to get some new workouts, I only have 1 week left on the TurboJam program and I will definitely be ready for a break!
Amy,
Great job on Shred 3!:thumbsup2 You have a great plan in place to get those workouts in!:banana:
I just finished Zumba and I loved it!!!!:love: It really is a lot of fun and the time zoomed right by. I did the 20 minute basic routine and then did the 50 minute cardio party. FUN!:banana: (We'll see how my abs feel in the morning though. ;) )
Sending prayers your way...I hope you get some answers at your doctor's appointment today. :hug:
we have found a couple holes in the roof thanks to all of this recent rain... :sad2:
There you go. You might not have found those holes until a lot of damage had been done if the ceiling hadn't been out. Yeah, DH says I'm always trying to find something good in everything too. :upsidedow
Awesome workouts you are getting done and your food is looking great. I notice that you are changing your snacking habits. :thumbsup2
Prayers for a good doctor's appointment.
:hug:
Amy, I hope the doctor gave you some answers! Keep us posted.
Okay, from the sounds of that Level 3 Shred, I think that sounds very intense! Good job doing those workouts, I am betting you will see some results on the scale this Friday.
A freezing cold kitchen would probably send me to Subway or any other place to avoid cooking! Rennovations are so stressful, but I know you'll get through this. And good job resisting the Twinkie! I have Zingers in my house right now and I swear sometimes I hear them calling me.;)
Hi Amy!
I've been lurking at your journal and decided to say hi. My name is Amy too!
Another Amy
How did your doctor's appointment go?
I woke up sore from yesterday's Zumba workout. Not in any one specific place, but an all over great workout kind of sore.:goodvibes
Hope you have a great Thursday!:hug:
I can't believe how much rain we are getting! All of the retention basins are full, you could probably swim laps in them. We are supposed to get 3-5" of rain this week, and that is crazy considering our yearly average is about 7"! :eek:
Nothing but good news at the Dr. :cool1: I don't have any indications of cancer, arthritis or inflammatory problems. Blood sugar is perfect, thyroid is perfect, hormones are perfect and no sign of menopause... He thinks that the hair loss is from stress and maybe some mineral deficiencies, so I am just going to take some vitamins and hope it gets better... :confused3 One thing that was bad was my cholesterol (233)! And that has to be hereditary because I eat oatmeal EVERY day for breakfast, and only eat red meat maybe once a week. He is not too worried about it and will check it again later this year when I go in for my yearly exam.
For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing; candy cane
S: baby carrots; apple; 60% cocoa chocolate square
S: red peppers-n-hummus
D: thin cut, boneless pork chop; cauliflower; 1/2 graham cracker w/Nutella
E: 20min Turbo Jam; 20min Ab Jam
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I've seen the Zumba class at the gym, but it was always packed so that turned me off from trying it. Must be good though, if that many people like it!

Lisa, you are right about the roof! I'm sure it had been leaking for a while, and we just didn't know it! I am trying to behave with the snacks, but I am getting discouraged because my weight stays the same whether I oversnack or not! :sad2:

Amy, I was definitely tempted to go out to eat, especially last night when DH was making another mess trying to patch the holes before the rain started today! But I powered through it and made dinner instead...

redlight, wow, another Amy! Welcome and thanks for stopping by my journal.

Amy, I hope the vitamins help with your hair. Did the doctor give a breakdown on the cholesterol numbers. The ratio of good to bad cholesterol is at least as important as the total number.

Amy, I am so glad that you got good news at the doctor! Stress can do a lot of damage so take some deep breaths, some vitamins and I bet your hair thickens up soon!

As for the ch. thing (can't spell that word to save my life) it probably is hereditary. It sure as heck isn't your diet!

Woo hoo, that had to feel great to get such good news from the doctor. :goodvibes It's good that he's not too worried about the cholesterol. Sounds like you're doing everything you possibly can. Sometimes genes just get in the way no matter what you do.

I've been on Lipitor for a few years because of high cholesterol...not because it's through the roof or anything, but both of my parents had heart problems and died in their 50s so the doc is overly cautious. My maternal grandparents both lived into their 80s and were healthy till the end so I sure hope I got their genes (I definitely inherited Grandma's body type).
