Appetizers- Caribe chicken $7.99
Blue Crab Delight $8.99
Rainforest Pita Quesadillas $8.99
Total=$25.97

Drinks 4 x 2.00=$8.00

Desserts SPARKLING VOLCANO $12.99
Chocolate Diablo Cake $5.99
Total=$18.98.

Grand Total with tax and tip $209.00

Almost $100 savings!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it great! We did RFC with VKL 2x last year's trip (DH, DD, I shared with one voucher, supplementing her baby food with the meal). We got the steak & lobster both times. This year, DH, DD2, DD11, and 1 shared 1 adult & 1 child's VKL on one occasion, and it was an even better deal! We had one order of steak & shrimp, and one order of steak & ribs (may have come with chicken also). We had soup add-ons, upgraded steaks, and chocolate cake & cheesecake for desert. They allowed us the slushee in the souvenier cup, and we got one coke. We combined the vouchers to get the appetizer platter, which almost filled us up by itself- yummy! All of this for only about 50....This will be even more of a bargain next year, when we will have to pay for all of DD2's meals....

On our last trip there were 2 adults and 2 kids. We used 1 adult VKL voucher and 1 child VKL voucher.

Here's what we got with our 2 vouchers:

Appetizer:
Awesome Appetizer Adventure - $14.99

Drinks:
2 souvenir cups with slushies for the kids - I think these were $5.99 each

Entrees:
Tree Top Filet with Stuffed Lobster - $39.99
Primal Steak with Stuffed Lobster - $39.99

Dessert:
2 Amazon Apple Cobblers -$7.49 each

$121.93 not including tax/tip

We only paid about $44 for the 2 vouchers. What an awesome deal, and the food was really, really good. It is a must do for our next trip. We really enjoyed RFC.

FYI:

We used the VKLs at the RFC and they had limitations unless you combine the vouchers...
:umbrella: so buyer beware of the hype unless you use more than one VKL. :umbrella:

With our 2 vouchers and a couple added soft drinks it costs us about $75 total...plus we had to share the meals (LOL).

I'd rather spend $100 for a party of 4 at Cape May's-Clam Bake and it's all you can eat...much better food than RFC...IMHO.

Just to clarify-the only item we ordered that required the combination of 2 vouchers was the volcano dessert. It did us 2 dessert options from 2 vouchers.

Goog job. How was the food?

We have gotten the tree top filet at RC in Mpls. Cost of $21. plus l0% off with card.. No lobster tho. Very good.

herc.

We did this last year at RFC. Didn't care for the lobster at all. We are going to try the vouchers again but substitute the coconut shrimp for the lobster.

.

The two vouchers should have cost about $61 and two soft drinks $4, for a total of $65. The tax and tip is included in the voucher. If you had bought 4 vouchers, the cost would have been (drinks would have been included) $122 for four complete meals, no sharing.

4 meals at Cape May clam bake, with tax and tip (minimum tip) about $125...and I thought the drinks were not included..so that would add (if not) another $8-9. I still think the vouchers are a better deal..we even get to take our desserts home with us, since we are always too stuffed to eat them. Can't take them home from a buffet : )

We weren't big fans of the stuffed lobster either. On our second visit we substituted grilled shrimp in its place. We took home part of the appetizers and the choc cake. We used 3 vouchers at a cost of $97.50 and we had leftovers, a buffet for our group (of 4 adults by Disney) would cost would exceed that.

We really enjoyed everything we tried with the exception of the stuffed lobster. The lobster wasn't bad we just didn't care for some of the seasonings used. And as far as comparing it to Cape May, we have found it to be hit or miss in the past and have started staying away from the buffets. With the price increase at the buffets we have chosen to dine more at Epcot.

Quick question-- Can you use the VKL vouchers anytime at RFC at AK, since it really isn't open during "dinner"? What I mean is, what's the latest "lunch" seating there?

TIA!

Yes, you can use the VKL vouchers for lunch "and beyond"...meaning until the restaurant closes.

The time Rainforest Cafe closes varies a bit with the seasons...it is open later in the summer and over Christmas...the earliest AK closes is 5pm so Rainforest would be open for new seatings AT LEAST until 6pm...and my guess is even a little later than that (maybe 7pm?) ASK...it's on your way if you are going into AK...and just a phonecall away if you are just coming over to eat there and not doing the park.

I am not sure how it works at Downtown Disney rainForest Cafe since we always eat at the AK one.

When DTD RFC takes teh voucher (they aren't listed and it comes and goes), they will only take it during the lunch time, not for dinner.

We were told two weeks ago that we needed to use 2 vouchers to get the "Awesome Appetizer Adventure"...and at first we were told soft drinks only and no smoothies/freezes...but after that I asked for a manager , he agreed we could get a smoothie/freeze with each voucher.

So maybe I thought buying the VKLs we could choice anything off the menu and didn't plan on buying vouchers for each person in our party... as the cost of the vouchers is more than the cost per person at Cape May...not to mention in order to buy the VKLs you need to join a club with monthly fees.

And for those who think RFC is better than Cape May...well to each his own.

We do go to RFC at least 4 times a years...but not anymore with the vouchers when at WDW...I'll just keep using the Safari Club card for my discounts or free appetizer along with the $5 discounts they send a couple times a year.

******
Actually with the tip and tax included, as well as the drink, it works out to be about the same cost..at least it was a couple of weeks ago. I like Cape May also, but sometimes I want to just sit there and be waited on : ) But it is personal preference. As far as paying to be a member..the first 30 days are still free, and you can order all you will need before cancelling.

With these vouchers (unlike last year) they no longer say no frozen drinks and they let us get the smoothies..although with the $11 ones, Beaches still won't.

Not only did they (RFC) allow (actually encourage) us to get a frozen slushy drink with our voucher, they allowed (encouraged!) us to get them in the childrens souvenier bottle!!! My brother had breakfast there w/voucher and they suggested they get their drinks (milk!) in the drink bottles.

We couldn't believe our totals using vouchers :) We used 6 vouchers total. 2 kid and 4 adult, which I think works out to $150 or so. Our total was over $400, and only 3 people ordered the most expensive dish on the menu. One of the meals was a cheapy $21 entree with no add ons! We were very pleased :)

WOW,
We must have had a bad server...as he made us feel like scum for asking for the frozen drinks and the only appetizers we could get were the shrimp cocktail, chicken strips, quesadillas or the cheese sticks per voucher.

Like I said I had to ask for the manager to get the frozen drinks approved and I wasn't gonna get in a fight with them over the appetizers as we go to WDW to have fun and not be treated that way.

All in all...there are too many other better choices to eat at WDW than RFC which we have in the Seattle Area. So I guess I'll stick to not using the vouchers as not to be treated like cheapskates as our server made us feel.

:charac2:

It's horrible that you had that experience. We had great servers both visits to RFC and to B&C. Next trip we will definitely purchase them for B&C and maybe enough for 1 visit to RFC.

We had the best waiter at RFC. He automatically brought all 3 of my kids the tall souvineer glasses and said the voucher included them. We could pick any appetizer and we had the volacano for dessert and our waiter kept insisting we get the other free dessert.

I also agree with others though on the stuffed lobster- not a fan.
