I love that man! Hope this is not considered political.

Too often, he just seemed like a cranky old man. It's not even that he was railing about current events, but that he didn't seem particularly informed of them. Sometimes I wondered if he didn't just glance at the headlines while walking from his dressing room.

He said he's being urged by people to do "bigger things" for the political issues he believes in. Maybe running for public office??

I liked him, too -- although I didn't agree with him on everything. (I don't think I agree with anyone on everything!)

But, I believe his ratings were quite low -- and I've been wondering for a while when CNN was going to replace him -- or he'd just read the writing on the wall and move on.

I can't say I'm surprised to see him leaving.

YESSSSSS!!!!

I despise him and I'm really happy to see him go :woohoo:

I used to listen to him, long ago, but then his show started to be nothing but diatribes about his opinions on things, and somehow he'd take ANY piece of news and make it about his pet obsessions. It wasn't his opinion on things so much as his ranting and making EVERYTHING about his obsessions. I just didn't like it.

He's a lot like Nancy Grace. When she was on Court TV and they made her stick to some color commentary and do explanations of things, she was fun and entertaining and I liked her quite a bit. On CNN, the network has given her head and all she does is rant and rave and foam at the mouth. It doesn't matter whether I agree with her or not on a topic, I just can't stand to watch her rant.

And now that this post has degenerated into a rant, I'll shut up now.;):rolleyes1

I am not saying a thing, because this will turn political.:rolleyes1

I think he may have tried to become more controversial and broached controversial issues in an effort to boost ratings. Don't these types of shows thrive on rants, arguing, controversy, etc.? The biggies -- O'Reilly, Beck, Olbermann, etc. all seem to be opinionated ranters who thrive on debate and aren't afraid to be viewed as controversial. It seemed like he was trying to generate some of that vim and vigor and move into that mold. That endears him to some and alienates him from others.

My understanding is his background is in business -- he was a business reporter originally, I believe.

He just seemed like a cranky old man lately. I stopped watching him. I really couldn't take it.

CNN is in 4th place right now as far as the news channels are concerned.

He and the president of CNN do not get along, and his ratings stink. Doesn't he go up against The Ed Show?

Anyway.. my feelings? Don't let the door hit ya!

You are correct.

But Dobbs said his world view changed after the 2001 terrorist attacks and corporate corruption scandals, and he began to more freely express his opinions.

From same link above
Dobbs' ratings had cooled from the height of the immigration discussion. But his 879,000 viewers on Tuesday still eclipsed MSNBC's Chris Matthews (Fox News Channel's Shepard Smith had more than double the audience) and even beat Campbell Brown's CNN show, which followed Dobbs at 8 p.m. ET in prime-time, according to the Nielsen Co.

OK, I need to unsubscribe from this thread before we all get into trouble.popcorn::

Then it must be his leanings and relationship with the CNN pres.

Joe Scarborough said this morning (but Joe always jokes, so who knows) that he may be looking towards public office.
