Lots of service dogs this trip

There are cases of pigs and snakes being brought on planes. Will this eventually make it's way to other places too? Will those who want to bring them on planes cry unfair? Why are they not allowed to bring their support animal with them to the theme park but they are allowed on the plane? They are they not equal? I can see it happening if the wrong (or would it be right) person got a burr under their butt. Can you?

A plane and a theme park are controlled by different laws is why. The airline does not have to meet ADA standards and is not governed by it. Air travel is regulated by the Air Carrier Access Act. The ADA states that service animals are only dogs and horses trained to perform as task. Anything else is not covered under the ADA and thus does not have to be offered admission and accommodation.

Just because it isn't now doesn't mean it won't be eventually. Laws change. All the time. And usually because someone cries foul.
Want to start to list all the things that ADA has changed? It's a long list

ETA - before someone takes me wrong, I'm not trying to say that it's a bad thing that laws have changed. It's not. Just that they have. And while the changes have been good (like for access ramps, door widths, etc. they could as easily be bad too. If taken to extremes

I believe I've repeatedly stated in this thread that people lie. I believe I've repeatedly said that I want to improve the requirements above what is done now. And yes, would using the tools in place stop everyone? Of course not. No one said it would. Would it stop some? Yes. Would adding even 1 layer of added level of verification stop some? Yes it would. Not all, of course not. But anything to make it harder. And yeah, it sucks it is harder for the legit folks. Just like it sucks it's harder it is for DAC guests because of that abuse. The abusers always make it harder for the legit folks. And it sucks.

What you are asking for Disney can't legally do though. You are acting like Disney isn't doing everything it possibly can but even just simply asking the question isn't going to deter people nearly as much as people thing. I bet management does ask when they see a pet in the hotel. As soon as they get the 2 answers they can't ask again. They can only ask that the service animal be removed when an issue occurs which management at the parks and hotels handle. If you have a bad issue speak with management until then there isn't anything anyone can do.

The last ADA update on this issue was to limit it to just dogs and horses. I don't see that limitation being taken away in the near future.

there are owners that have trained their own service dogs. I remember a neighbor when I was growing up who trained his third dog himself cause he couldn't afford a third dog after the first 2 had to be retired. how does Canada handle situations like this. I am just asking cause I am wondering

From what I understand, each province handles it their own way. I was curious how other countries handle service dogs, so looked up Canada, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but in some of the provinces, self trained service dogs don't count. I saw a discussion form where there was quite the debate about it.

I believe it depends on the ride...slow moving rides, like boat rides and omnimovers probably wouldn't be an issue. Thrill rides probably would be. I'm just guessing though, but I'm sure someone with experience with that situation will chime in.

There is a crate at Peter Pan where we saw a service animal loaded up to wait while the owner rode the ride. I watched in anticipation thinking the dog would get to ride but then saw that they had crated him.

Lucky stiff! Ponies are so cute. :)
Urgh, I got a pony when I was 5. He was mean as a snake. Broke me from ever wanting one again.
Don't get me wrong. It was fun to walk out in the back yard and ride my pony around (even in the suburbs) but wow, even now, going on 50 years later what I remember most was how mean he was.
Cute though, still lives on in photos

One of my great nieces had a "sparkle pony" at her birthday party. It was a light gray pony with what I assume was a lot of glitter hairspray in its fur. That pony really sparkled.

OT, but when my son was little, he liked to watch the cartoon Arthur on PBS. The character Arthur has a sister named D.W. who is crazy about ponies. One episode was all about the family going on vacation to Pony World. It was the funniest Arthur show ever. :)

Just remember pony folks, ponies aren't allowed by the ADA, miniature horses are. Miniature horses are usually smaller than 38 inches at the withers. In my experience, they also don't have quite as much pony attitude.

I always forget there is actually a difference between the two.

Tough question here - I have an emotional support great dane (Mr. Peppers) who himself has an emotional support poodle. HOWEVER, the poodle (Johnny Joe Joe) is not registered to work for the great dane because, to be blunt, the great dane is really lazy about paperwork. Thus the poodle can not enter the park to be with the great dane That said, the poodle is registered to be an emotional support dog for my son. Can I take in the poodle to be with my son so long as the poodle and the great dane don't interact? And if they do, do I need to self report or can I expect the Disney secret police to be all over this?

Here is a quick idea maybe just maybe if your "support dog" needs a "support dog" it's a GREAT idea for everyone that you just leave it at home. I am going to go out out on a limb and say you have heard that before. I can not even believe that you posted something so crazy. PLEASE TELL MEMTHIS IS A JOKE

They can (and should) ask at the hotel. Once they get the answers (whether truthful or not), they should be able to remind the guest that the animal must be under their control or the control of an alternate handler at all times and that it cannot be left unattended in a room, park or other facility. If found unattended, they should be told that the animal will be brought to the Disney kennel and the owner charged for boarding the animal. They should also remind the guest that if the animal approaches, threatens or otherwise disturbs others or causes damage, they will be required to leave the premises. Let the guest sign off on that and perhaps at least some of the abuse will stop.

Plug away all you want...I am a boxer lover! Your puppy is absolutely adorable!
I have been too long without a boxer. My absolute favorite breed of all! Hoping she has a snagle tooth when she gets bigger. I also have a Lab, who I know most certainly would love a trip to the MK, and love every single person there.

We don't know if check in CMs are asking or not. There is just no way to know 100%.

Unfortunately with a service animal they can't make you sign anything. A hotel can only have the dog removed if it aggressive or not house broken. That's the big issues that consumers have trouble with is they very little recourse any company has until something bad happens.
