LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

So, he's talking about Darma right? She's going to take the job and they're going to send her the island right?

I don't think she's going to willingly take the job. To me it seems like she is being forced to take the job.

It just seems very convenient that right after the job interview her sister finds out that she is pregnant and Juliet no longer needs to steal the drugs from the lab. Did anybody notice if it was a Widmore pregnancy test? Was Juliet working at Widmore labs? (I'll have to watch it again today.) They are tied to the Hanso Foundation. Could the pregnancy test have been tampered with, giving a false positive reading? Again, it just seems too convenient. Then her ex gets killed (in exactly the way she joked about) so she is now free to take this new job. Ethan and the other guy were acting very strangely in the morgue...almost as if Juliet had no choice but to go with them.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I got the feeling that while Juliette may have gone willingly - she wasn't planning on being there three years. She did ask if her sister could go too - so is her sister on the island somewhere too?

Weren't there flashbacks on the previous season that linked Juliette with Desmond?

As usual after an episode I have so many questions, lol. We know that Ben is Alex's dad, I'm wondering though if Alex is really Danielle's daughter since Danielle said she had killed her husband, because he was sick. Also, Danielle and her husband were shipwrecked on the island and Ben said he has lived his whole life there. So there is no way Ben could be Danielle's husband. So, I'm wondering if maybe Ben "adopted" Alex and he really isn't her father. Anyone have any thoughts?

You may be assuming that Ben is her "biological" dad. The others could have abducted Alex and Ben might have just raised her as his own and never told Alex the truth.

*edited to add: I should read the WHOLE post before replying :) I absolutely agree.

DIdn't they tell Juliette her sister could not go because of the lack of 'medical care' for her or something to that effect?

yes, and then she questioned that Portland should have the necessary medical care. That's when he said they weren't exactly in Portland.

I am pretty sure that the discussion here decided that the blond in the Desmond flashbacks were another woman. She is the daughter of the rich guy who was somehow responsible for getting Desmond thrown into jail. The blond link to Desmond was Libby who apparently gave her ex husbands sail boat to Desmond for him to compete in the around the world race. The boat that the others now have because Ben had said I have to have that boat. It was taken in the episode where Sun shot one of the others.

Does anyone know what day it is on the Island? Like, how many days have elapsed since the crash? Between 40 and 60, you think? B/C Juliette said she has been there for 3 years, blah blah, and 28 days, and doing the math from today [2007], it would put her arrival around 9/11, but I know the show was not in "real time" - I read an interview with the Hurley actor saying that he had to stay around the same size & not have lost a lot of weight [yet] b/c they hadn't been on the island for years, only weeks. Some message boards or TV commentators are saying they hope the show doesn't have a 9/11 tie-in, but IF it were going to, it couldn't be tied somehow to Juliette's arrival there, right?

I agree that Ben "adopted" Alex. I was trying to figure out how Alex could be both Danielle's AND Ben's daughter since Danielle said her husband got sick and she had to kill him. The adoption makes sense; Alex was a baby so she has no reason to think that Ben isn't her biological father.

And Juliet didn't really have much choice but to go with Ethan and that other guy - she realized that if they could kill her ex by running over him with a bus, she HAD to go with them. I mean, how much planning went into having the bus zoom past at the exact moment that her ex stepped into the street and have it kill him but miss her?!

I wasn't too thrilled with this episode. Kate and Sawyer's escape was way too easy. Alex had that hole in the ground to hide in, but none of those 3 guys stepped in it?? The Others aren't going to let Jack go, and I don't think they'll let Juliet leave either. Where's Juliet going to go? They can't let her get back to the "real" world and tell people about their little island. If anything, I see them bringing Juliet's sister TO their island, or maybe arranging some kind of video hookup (like they let Jack watch the world series). I have a feeling Michael and Walt never made it back to the real world either; maybe they'll turn up later on some other island.

I certainly hope next week's episode is better!

Oh, something else.....in the catch-up show prior to the new episode, the producers confirmed what we've been speculating here: Sun doesn't know for sure if her baby is Jin's or the bald guy's.

Alex is Danielles daughter! It has been pretty muich said last season. Thought that was pretty obvious by now.

The others are built on lies...and will continue to be jack and juliet aren't getting let free anytime soon.

As for the epsiode I enjoyed it. Things really moved along. Looks like we get back to the beach next episode. Will Claire die as desmond eluded to???

And how pissed will Ben be now that he's awake???

Was that in the previews? One of my kids was talking, so I missed what Desmond said and who he said it to. So he said Claire is going to die?

Ben is going to be royally pissed, but he'll also respect how Jack tried to save his friends.

And don't forget - the folks on the beach now have Carl. Wonder how much he's already been brainwashed? And how much can he tell the Losties about the Others?

pretty interesting how the interviewer was showing Juliette all these outdoor activites that the firms holds for it's employees each week and then says .... "well we're not actually IN Portland...."

He also said that the images of the activities were cheesey, (probably because they were from the 70's when the Dharma initiative was conceived).

I liked the episode, especially when Sawyer said "I can't believe he fell for the wookie prisoner gag". :rotfl:

I can't figure out if Juliette's sister has cancer or did the drugs they gave her to get her pregnant make her that sick? :confused3

Does anyone remember if Danielle said she had the baby on the island or she had the baby before they were shipwrecked? I'm wondering because she has been on the island for 16 years. Is it possible that she was kidnapped by the Others and impregnated and Ben could actually be the biological father? Danielle is not very forthcoming with info. She may not have wanted to get into it. Also, she was positive Ben was an Other when they found him in her trap. Maybe she was positive, because she had seen him before.
I know I'm rambling, but this show drives me crazy with all the questions it brings out;)

Did anyone notice the name of the company on the slide show they showed Julliette?

MITTELOS BIOSCIENCE

The Mittelos part looks a little funky... like a fake word.

You can make a bunch of anagrams out of it but I thought it was funny that the ones that came to mind immediately were:

Lost Time :confused3

According to the timeline on SledgeWeb Danielle was pregnant when she arrived at the island and gave birth 2 months after being ship wrecked.

Clever.

So I kept thinking about the slide show and the pregnant woman they showed. Juliette thought she was like 77, but they said she was in her twenties. I kept thinking about cloning but maybe that's a stretch. I'm assuming that it was one of the Others. They haven't shown any children younger than teenagers and they like kidnapping babies, so I'm assuming there is something wrong with them getting pregnant and that is why they wanted Juliette so bad.

Well, there goes that theory.
I assume then that Alex thinks Ben is really her father. I'm surprised then that they would let Kate and Sawyer go, knowing they could tell Danielle where Alex is. I would imagine Alex would not be pleased to find out she was kidnapped and Ben is not her father. Although, it doesn't seem like Kate and Sawyer made the connection between Alex and Danielle.

Any thoughts on seeing "Jacob" mentioned in the brainwashing film that Alex's boyfriend was being forced to watch?? (It flashed by on the screen). Jacob is the elusive leaders that some of the "Others" have mentioned. Wonder if all the "Others" were put through a brainwashing film so they would be submissive to whatever the heck they are up too??:confused3

A few thoughts on the episode . . .

Ben as Alex's father: I too am going with the he raised her crowd. Remember, Danielle caught Ben . . . if it was her husband, she would have recognized him.

Juliet's sister: Is this really her brother? The "recruiter" was discussing Juliet's attempts to impregnate a male field mouse and I think we're to assume that she was continuing this study based on her conversations with her ex. So does this mean her "sister" is really a man? Which brings me to:

The "serum": Is this supposed to be the same that we've seen Desmond injecting himself with? Are they trying to further experiment with male pregnancies? I'm trying to figure out how that works with Claire being injeted when she was with Ethan, but then again the baby is a boy so perhaps experimenting the effects if this process is started very early?

Jacob: I don't know if anyone remembers the Jacob mention earlier, where in the context of conversation it sounded as if Jacob was "Him" . . . someone above Ben. Anyone catch the video that Carl was watching? One of the shots of the screen said something, "And God loves you as he loves Jacob."

I'm sure I have more . . I had a number of things running through my head last night.

Didn't see this when I posted (wrote it out in notepad before I forgot things, now going back to catch up)

In previews for the season we saw that Cindy (flight attendant) and others from the plane that were abducted show up to speak to Jack. I wonder if we'll find out more about the "process" when that episode comes up.

That room also made me wonder what is in the other rooms. He was in room 23 (one of the numbers!) which leads us to believe there are at least that many different rooms. Are they all that video? Or are there different things going on in different rooms.

And I didn't see exactly what it was, but there was another logo on the door to that building so I think we just "found" another "hatch" for Locke's map.
