LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

More babble....

1. How the heck did Penny contact the Looking Glass station?

2. I loved when Rose said "If you say 'Live together, die alone,' to me, Jack, I'm going to punch you in the face." That was right up there with great moments of the show.

3. "Not we, Richard, me," Ben says. "You're going to take everyone to the temple as planned." What is this temple they are referring to?

4. Why does Mikhail say to the women in the Looking Glass "I thought you two were on assignment in Canada"? What the heck kind of "assignment" is he referring to? Dharma?

5. Great quote from Ben "Because this island is under assault by forces stronger than anything it's had to deal with in many, many years, and we are meant to protect it, Mikhail, by any means necessary. The jamming was for everyone's security. We are in a serious situation here."

6. Walt told John "You have work to do." Interesting.....

7. Jack gives the pharmacist a second Rx supposedly from Dr. Christian Shepard, but when she goes to call he tells her to forget about it that's he's out of town.

8. Ben told Jack that Naomi was a representative of some people who were trying to find the island. One of the bad guys. He considered Dharma bad so maybe she is in fact Dharma.

9. Why does Ben say if Jack phones Naomi's boat that everyone on the island will be killed?

10. Who was the musician that programmed the Looking Glass code? Why was it Good Vibrations?

11. Why didn't Tom and Ryan follow Ben's orders to kill Sayid, Jin and Bernard?

12. Mrs. Arlynn was the name of the lady from the car crash.

13. Anyone notice all of the maps all over the floor and tables in the last flash forward scene? Jack's trying to find the island it seems.

14. Here's the dialogue from the very ending..... Notice Jack says he's sick of lying and how desperately he wants to go back to the island.

"Because I want it to crash, Kate. I don't care about anybody else on board. Every little bump we hit, or turbulence, I actually close my eyes and I pray that I can get back."

"This is not going to change," Kate says.

"No, I am sick of lying. We made a mistake."

"I have to go. He's going to be wondering where I am."

He grabs her. "We were not supposed to leave."

"Yes we were," Kate says. "Bye, Jack."

He watches her leave. "We have to go back, Kate!"

Claire and Aaron as car crash victims...hmmmmm. Gawrsh, that's something to chew on. Nice theory. :thumbsup2

Charlie's definitely dead. There were several interviews with Dom and he pretty much cleared up any confusion or possibility of him coming back

Did not know that thanks....I will miss Charley. Did they say why he was not coming back?

2 questions I have are

1. Was that Charlies band jack was listening 2 in his jeep?

2. Is anyone else shocked he told Kate he loved her?

I swore after last weeks preview he wasnt gonna tell Kate

It was weird how and when her told Kate he loved her. He seemed to be pushing her to Sawyer but then explaining it by saying her lover her? Not what I would have expected.

11. Why didn't Tom and Ryan follow Ben's orders to kill Sayid, Jin and Bernard?

When they were talking afterwards, Tom and the other guy were saying that Ben had lost it, that they should have shot Sayid and the others instead of shooting the sand. That made me think that Ben had told them beforehand to pretend to shoot, so they were following his orders.

13. Anyone notice all of the maps all over the floor and tables in the last flash forward scene? Jack's trying to find the island it seems.

Since I'm not all up on phone technology, that was my first clue about it being a flashforward. But then I reasoned to myself that maybe this took place before Jack took his vacation to Thailand or whatever and he was planning an Asian trip. Afterwards, of course, it made more sense.

I think that if Jack got off the island, all of the other plane survivors (who were still alive and willing, so maybe not Locke) would have been rescued as well. Jack wouldn't have gotten on a boat or plane voluntarily without making sure that everyone else was safe as well. But maybe not telling anyone about the island was a prerequisite of them being rescued (especially if it is in fact Dharma that rescues them). That would explain why the island is still lost. And maybe they had to lie about where they were all that time, which is why Jack is saying that he is tired of lying.

So if Dharma did rescue them, maybe they "fixed" Kate's fugitive problem somehow. And I'm assuming they all got some pretty hefty payoffs (not just Golden Tickets) for being in a plane crash.

So why was Jack addicted to oxycodin? If that was his third refill, then it wasn't from any injuries he received rescuing the mom and kid from the accident (didn't look like he was injured enough anyway). How long would refills last - like a month or so each? He had a legitimate prescription the first time, so I'm assuming some sort of accident? It's a pain medication right?

No, the funeral home places the obituary in the paper. But, you are on to something. SOMEONE had to have claimed the body and hired the funeral home.

Not necessarily. The family writes the obituary and placing it in a newspaper is voluntary.

Since Jack seemed suicidal, maybe everyone who was rescued ended up the same way. Maybe that's what happened to whoever was in the coffin?

Moments that had me applauding:

Jack beating the crap out of Ben
Rousseau elbowing Ben in the face
Sawyer's line: "that was for taking the kid off the raft"
Hurley busting out of the jungle in the VW bus!!! :lmao: Our hero.

They need a clapping smiley...

I also loved Ben's line to Alex "I didn't want you to get pregnant...maybe I overreacted". :rotfl:

How did Danielle give birth to Alex without dying? Even though Claire was near full term when she arrived they still gave her the medicine. They didn't come and kidnap Alex until she was born right?

Another thing with Danielle, she never did explain what she meant by "they were infected" when she talks about killing her husband and crew. I wonder if they'll ever address this:confused3

Does anyone remember Danielle
Saying when she made the recording 16 years ago.
THE OTHERS ARE DEAD

did she mean the people she was with died
or
The Others as they are called

Are really dead people ?

Only people who get knocked up on the island die. They weren't actually giving Claire anything, they were taking samples of her blood or whatever to see how she was progressing and to try to learn how to stop their own women from dying.

That's why it was a double edged sword for Sun. If Jin was the father, she and the baby would die. If the guy she had an affair with was the father, she and the baby would live--but she would always know it was the other guy's kid.

When Juliet was giving Sun her sonogram, she explained that if the baby was conceived OFF the island, then mom and baby would be ok. Danielle must have been pregnant when she landed on the island.

As for giving Claire the medicine, how do we know for sure they were GIVING Claire medicine and not TAKING blood samples or something? For sure they implanted whatever it was that they activated to make Claire sick a few episodes ago.

Ohhhh that is what I was thinking of. That medicine they had to give her. I forgot that they made her sick. Nevermind!

OK, maybe I'm going about this way too logically, but I have to wonder...

Why didn't Ben try explaining all the wierdness to Jack when it reached the critical point (when the phone call going through was imminent)? Even if he didn't expect to be believed, if it was SO important that Jack not make the call, why didn't he at least try the truth (as he believes it to be)?

He tried to stop him by pretending to kill the three, and then let himself get beat up instead of admitting that they were still alive instead of trying a new tactic.

I'm just not getting something here.

Well, another mystery for me is if Naomi was not from Penny's boat, why did Naomi have Desmond's picture? And, why hasn't Desmond questioned Naomi more about this. However, it could be that Dharma knew that Desmond was pushing the button, and wants to talk to him about what happened. Maybe Dharma was looking for one of their own, even if Desmond didn't know he was one of theirs. Or, maybe Penny's family is associated with Dharma too...who knows??!!

I also like the "alternate universe" theory. I think if Kate is back with the doctor she loved....that would be a really good thing for her.

I also believe that whomever is dead killed himself, and maybe there is a "rash" of suicides going on in the group. But why? What are they "lying" about, and why? Certainly some guilt has Jack addicted to Oxycodone, and desperately wanting back to the island....but why?

I had another thought today on the whole "alternate universe" theory. The Lost creators spent a good deal of time on the "Wizard of Oz" theories, maybe now they are going to scratch the surface of a Neverland theory as well. That could explain why Richard has not aged at all since Ben was a small boy. Maybe the island's "original" residents are truly the "Lost" boys?
I don't know...I just think that has got to be intentional.
