Great episode but I feel totally ripped off! Gimme something more!!!!!!! Anywho, does anyone else think that the island was a secret lab for some sort of chemical warfare or disease control, research, etc... It would explain why Desmond thought the world might not exist anymore, why he was giving himself shots, why the hatch was quarrentined, the others getting sick, etc... It would even explain the brand on the shark and maybe the polar bear (animal testing).

The shark scenes really freaked me out...obviously the LOST crew's a fan of Jaws (underwater scenes without showing too much of the shark).

Though it was interesting to see the perspective of Kate and Locke dealing with Desmond before Jack got there, the fact that we ended with Jack saying "You" again was very frustrating!!!

Well something (some kind of testing?) must have been going on there. The French lady's people got sick 16 years earlier, perhaps whatever the probelm is that caused Desmond to lock himself in the bunker (and them to get sick) has dissipated??? And could also have something to do with why the others want/need children. And the others seemed to have been their prior to the French lady's group.

Okay...I have not read every post in this thread. I'm back on the DIS after an absence (I had a good reason so please forgive me).

I was watching last week and tonight while doing the laundry. Firstly, it is driving me crazy when Desmond talks. I can't understand what he is saying and have to back it up and turn the volume way up. (Just venting).

Did I miss something last week. Wasn't Locke in a wheelchair when they showed him at home? And how does Jack know Desmond?

Locke was in a wheelchair, when they crashed he could walk, that is one reason he believes in the Island so much, and I am pretty sure noone knows that he was paralyzed

They showed Jack meeting Desmond last week. They met at a stadium where they were both running stairs. Desmond was running faster and Jack starting speeding up and twisted his ankle, Desmond came over to help and they started talking. I don't remember exactly what he said, but I think Desmond said something about having been a doctor, or in med school or something at one point, but that he wasn't currently a doctor.

Thanks for the info. I saw the part with the running on the stairs, but didn't realize that was Desmond. Jeez, so much going on, you can't miss a second.

Didn't last week's previews for this week say something like 'the fate of the survivors would be revealed'? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anything indicating this!

The "others" are the other survivors. The girl, Michelle Rodriguez... There was someone saying they were on a plane and she said flight 815. I think it was them (I saw a black man... the womans husband?). Being isolated for 44 days without seeing anyone else would make an attack of sorts not unusual. That of course is if they ment the other survivors. If they ment Sawyer, Jin and Michael then we know what happened to them.

Maybe Desmond was on the raft with Danielle? Can someone who is watching season 1 listen for his name?

Can someone who has season 1 on DVD see if the polar bear had the symbol on it? Or the "black rock"?

Can someone see if any of those 'smoke' patterns we saw at the end of season 1 were in the shape of that symbol?

from the preview for next week's episode, i'm a little confused why they (the people who are beating on jin, sawyer, and michael) would throw the girl ana-lucia in the ditch with the boys? unless she did something that they didn't like?

Was Jin ever seen on last night's show? Like Laura, I hope that they repeat the episode.
