Lost Our Dog While At Disney

We went to Disney from May 4th-12th and had my dad watch our 3 dogs. On May 9th one of the dogs got away from him and ran away. It was our littlest one, our yorkie, 8 lbs... Penny. It was sooo sad to come home to only 2 dogs By now we figured someone has scooped her up or even worst...

Today we got a phone call from the humane society that someone brought in our Penny!!! She is half the weight she was.. only 4 lbs. and has an ulcer in one eye which may cause her to go blind. She had 20 ticks in her ears alone but otherwise seems to be in good shape. She's home now, safe and sound and I cannot believe it!

It would've been 4 weeks tomorrow that she was gone. I can't believe she survived that long on her own. I just had to share my super happy news with someone.

Wow, much happier ending than I thought I was going to read - I was actually hesitant to open this thread. Glad to see your pooch get home!

Oh, and even "inside" dogs should be frontlined in Summertime, IMO

Oh, I am so happy you have found your Penny. I'm sure she's been through a scare, spoil her rotten now that she is home safe and sound.

They were both so full of tears that they were stuck shut when I picked her up. They were able to pry one open a bit but the other one the vet had to open for her... she has 2 eyedrops that I have to give her every 3 hours now so we'll see. I feel so bad that I can't feed her right now... I know she's starving. She's looking for her food but since she hasn't eaten in a month, I can give her small amounts each day increasing when she can handle it more. So tomorrow she gets 1/3 of a can for the entire day. Poor thing... I just want to give her a giant steak... lol... I'm just so happy she's okay. I never expected good news on her anymore.

That must have been extremely painful! I never had a full appreciation for eye pain until I got a severe corneal abrasion myself. Wowsa!

I say we need pictures!

Yay! So glad you found your dog. We had a dog run off once and a neighbor found her at a construction site a couple days later. The workers had been feeding her very well so she actually gained weight!

I am so happy that you found your dog. I would have been heartbroken as well.

OMG...I am so thrilled you got your fur-baby back home to take care of her....That poor little girl. My sister does yorkie rescues, some of the cutest pups out there..

So glad you got your little Penny back - what a lovely ending to the story. And she's probably thrilled to be back with her family! I'm sure she's had an adventure! I know *I* couldn't make it out there on my own for 4 weeks! She's a lot tougher than I am! And I am sure your family (including Dad!) is so relieved she's back where she belongs.

So many people don't understand that our "pets" are really our "family"...but I'm sure as soon as Penny is better that she'll be spoiled out of her mind - and rightly so! (I believe our furpeople are made to be spoiled...).
