Lost Foods..... What happened? Where'd they go?

My most favorite cereal growing up was Kaboom. I saw a box at a bodega in NYC about 7 years ago and was ready to buy it but then I saw the expiration date had looooong passed :crazy2:

I was just going to post Kaboom cereal!! My cousins used to eat SO much of that just so they could poop in color! The dye in that stuff was incredible!!

Does anyone remember The Pop Shoppe where you could buy all different flavors of soda in glass bottles as they were being made...right off the conveyor belt ?

Wasn't that Towne Club? Glass bottles in a wood crate? :confused3

Magic Middle cookies made by Keebler (?). They were a mini chocoate chip cookie with soft chocolate on the inside. I ate cases of them in college!

GraysMom

These were to die for!! I used to take them for lunch in high school!
Anyone remember Giggles cookies? I think Nabisco made them. They were an Oreo like cookie, but the had a smiley face cut into them.
OR how about when you could buy Mickey Mouse bars in the ice cream section of the grocery store?? :mickeybar I miss those days :guilty:

They still make Sixlets, RAzzles and Zagnuts! My mom buys Zagnuts to send to her brother in Arizona. She gets them at the Dollar Tree.

Kimya

Haven't thought about a McDLT in forever!! Remember those styrofoam containers they came in, with 2 sides so the lettuce, tomato side stayed cold and the meat side stayed hot? :lmao:

Does anyone remember the Pizza Hut deep dish pizza, called Priazzo, I think? It must have been about 1986-1987.

Please tell me someone remembers these cookies. I think Sunshine made them but I'm not positive. They had a soft chocolate bottom(round) then there was marshmallow on top covered with chocolate jimmies (sprinkles). My mother use to buy them when I was a kid in the 70's and they were so good. I think about those alot.

I loved Quisp cereal!! I see they have it on Hometownfavorites but I bet my memory of it is better than the actual cereal! I also used to love lime Starbursts :furious:

You mean these lovely folks?

http://www.thepopshoppe.com/flash_site/main.html

It's the same flavours folks -- but now available in some Canadian retailer, such as corner stores. It's a blast from the past to enjoy a bottle of Pop Shoppe pop again.

I was still buying the original Pop Shoppe pop in the mid-1990s in western Ontario from the local feed store. For some reason, even though you got to pick out the flavours you wanted you always ended up with a couple of bottles of flavours in the case that you didn't want. :confused3

YES! That's who I was talking about! WOW, their logo hasn't changed since the 70's! I see they don't do colas anymore. I guess they just specialize in flavored soda now

My DD and I were just talking about Kaboom and King Vitamin today. Both were low in sugar and made by big companies (post and quaker I think). I don't know why neither company really advertised either cereal. I could find both up until about 4 years ago.

Also, I used to LOVE Pepperidge Farm's Broccoli and Cheese Pastries from the frozen foods section. Why did they have to go?

We have those here in Toronto. I have some in my freezer :) :woohoo:

Puddin Pops are back. Check your freezer. They are made by Popsicle brand now.

and here is an article discussing their return.
You might've heard the rumors -- here's the confirmation. Jell-O Pudding Pops, once the kings of the freezer section, have returned under the Popsicle brand umbrella. Though a relatively meaningless addition for most, those who watched Bill Cosby usher in the yumsticks during extensive television campaigns during the 80s know just how important this resurgence is. No longer must we debate which kind of frozen ice, ice cream or yogurt rod to choose from: so long as Jell-O Pudding Pops remain on the shelves, they are the perennial #1 pick.

I miss the s'mores that came in single serving packages and you could make in the microwave. And Nestle Alpine White candy bars.

I loved New York Seltzers - really miss those.
They're not too terribly old, but Santa Fe Ranch Lays. Anyone remember those? Came in a turquoise bag.
And I know they are the same cereals, but remember when Smacks were Sugar Smacks and Pops were Sugar Corn Pops and then don't forget Sugar Crisp which is not Super Golden Crisps? :rolleyes1
The original Nabisco Devil's Food Cake cookies in the red and yellow package. I know other brands make them now, but none compare to the old fashioned ones!

I remember Hardee's used to have this cartoon cowboy named Gilbert Giddyup to advertise their burgers. They had a tasty burger called a Big Star burger that had some concoction like 1000Island dressing on it. Used to love those back in the preteen days.

We miss Liptons Giggle Noodle Soup they took it off the shelves at our local stores about a year or so ago and we have never seen it again. My daughter loved it when she wasn't feelin well...

Canfields Diet Fudge Soda

Ecto Cooler
O Boise's (are O'BOISTEROUS!)
Zima

I remember my parents buying a VCR. Must have been early 80's. It was a toploader. Cost just under $700. It had a remote - that you attached to it with a cord LOL. Pretty nifty. I must have watched Karate Kid and Annie on that thing a million times. We had a rental store up the block from us, so I was well versed in new movies :O)

You must not be in the twin cities metro because we still have bubble tape, candy cigarettes (although they are called like candy sticks now), cheese hot dogs, bottle caps, and candy dots (the ones that come on the white paper). I use to love Ecto Cooler Hi-C and the O'Bosies were good as well.

Jello pudding pops. Nothing like them!

Chapelle flavored carbonated water was really good, then, gone.
I agree I really miss them! I posted a thread about them last year or the year before!!!

Where did you find them? Here in the twin cities metro I can find the popsicle version of pudding pops, but they do not measure up to the Jello pudding pops

I have these in my freezer now. They are not as good as they were years ago.
