Lost Foods..... What happened? Where'd they go?

Big League Chew
Bubble tape
Candy Cigarettes
Alexander the Grape
Bottle Caps
Burger Buddies (from BK)
Candy Dots
Canfields Diet Fudge Soda
Checkermint Gum
Cheese Hotdogs
Clearly Canadian
Dip Sticks
Ecto Cooler

Zima

I remember my parents buying a VCR. Must have been early 80's. It was a toploader. Cost just under $700. It had a remote - that you attached to it with a cord LOL. Pretty nifty. I must have watched Karate Kid and Annie on that thing a million times. We had a rental store up the block from us, so I was well versed in new movies :O)

Our markets must be different. We do still have cheese hot dogs (in fact there are some in my fridge right now!). We can also still buy Bubble Tape and Bottle Caps (they are in a purple package). Are Dip Sticks "Lick-em-aid"? We still get those too. Definitely no Fudge Sode tho! :crazy2:

I miss the "flying saucer" candies that are wafers with little candy beads inside. Can't find them even at the specialty candy shops anymore. :guilty:

How about Fruit Stripe gum? It didn't taste very good for very long, but it's nostalgic anyway.

I used to love that stuff! It was a huge pack of gum and super cheap.

We actually bought a pack about a year ago, because I remembered that I loved it. Yuck! Boy my standards have gone up in the past 25 years! :rotfl:

How 'bout Jolt cola? or the colored (green, purple) ketchups (YUK!)

Weird, but I miss the OLD Carl's Jr. Fries.... when I was a teenager in CA, their fries were the BEST, and totally different than what they have as fries now. Their old fries were somewhat similar to the Orieda Crispers fries.

I used to love something called Breakfast Squares. I still think about them!!
Also Noodles Romanoff. Let me think a bit I know there's more!

Yes, Breakfast Squares! I got super skinny eating those...one for breakfast, one for lunch and then a small, low calorie dinner. The chocolate ones were delish! :teeth: Wish they'd come back again!

I'm sure no one even remembers this but when I was little there used to be a restaurant chain called "Burger Chef" and there were characters called Burger Chef and Jeff. I was probably around 7 or 8, and it had to be around 1978 ish?

It was like a pre-McDonalds chain and they used to give out kids meals with toys. I remember I used to love that place.

I have a Burger Chef apron - the kind the employees wore. My mom or dad (can't remember which) worked at one either when I was very very young or right before I was born.

Kimya

I miss chocolate Cream of Wheat cereal.

Ahhh, Burger Chef!
I was a 'teen worker' at our local burger chef.
Burger Chef was a franchise that was bought out in the late 1980's, by Hardees. The independent owners were able to buy a few more years of use of the "Burger Chef" name, and then had to either convert to Hardees, or change altogether. Our local Burger Chef went independent in 1994, but they still use the 'hat' logo to punch holes in the 'family size fry' bags!

I still have a couple of different aprons from the uniforms , my name tag, and a couple of employer christmas presents with the burger chef logo. I still have a white tshirt, and a small cooler, both of which are still in the plastic. I wonder if there is a market for this stuff?!?!?!?

I forgot to say what I missed! :teeth:

Crystal Pepsi.

And bacon flavored Cheetos!

who misses the chocolate cream of wheat? We have that here!

I am still in mourning that Keebler stopped making Fudgetown cookies. They were chocolate cookies with a scalloped edge, a hole in the center and chocolate filling in the middle(Oreo-esque in that regard).

Also I think Nabisco used to make cookies called Mystic Mints that i really liked!

*Razzles

*Beeman's Chewing Gum (found some at Target last Christmas)

*Black Jack Chewing Gum (again, found some at Target last Christmas)

*Tea Berry Chewing Gum (again, found some at Target last Christmas)

*Chocolate babies -- they were like tootsie roll flavored and shaped like tiny cupie dolls

Oh and I miss Roy Rogers!
They have them in rest stops on the NJ Turnpike and that is the ONLY place I see them now.
We used to have one here in town, I never even got the roast beef sandwiches that everyone loved, just the cheeseburgers but they were so good!

I miss Marathon candy bars!!

Wasn't that the candy bar that was chewy caramel covered in chocolate and in a criss cross pattern? If so, I LOVED that candy bar.

.

I remember! And they served grilled cheese too!

I used to love Noodles Romanoff as a little kid. My mom made it with steak.

But my all time miss food would be something that came out in the early 90's. I used to eat it at least twice a week. They were called Sir Chomps A'lot and all they were was tiny bite size cheese ravioli. Oh so good, the ultimate comfort food for me.

Oh and also they used to have flavored seltzer-New York Seltzer I think. The cream soda flavor was the best.
