Land of the Lost...I remember watching that show when I was young. I don't remember a whole lot about it though.

It was about a family: Marshall, Will and Holly. They were on a routine expedtion and then..the greatest earthquake ever known! As they were high on the rapids it struck there tiny raft and then it sent them a thousand feet below...To the Land of the Lost!
There was a T-rex named Tiny and orangutang/human type creature they name Chaka Khan :teeth:

Yeah, I remember little bits and pieces. Didn't they live in a cave? Chaka Khan was sort of like their pet or something? I sort of remember them running away from the dinosaurs.

I do remember I watched the show all the time, but I was so young I don't remember details. I'm guessing I was probably only about 4 or 5yo.

Yes they lived in a cave.
And actually its just Chaka. Not Chaka Khan. Chaka Khan is actually an 80s group...lol (couldnt resist hehe)

The link Bunnyfoo provided said the show was on the air from 1974-76. I was 2 in 1974 so that's why I don't remember it. It must have been shown after that because I vaguely remember the blonde girl and the older man running from the dinosaurs. I think it used to come on Sunday afternoons. I don't remember those Sleeslacks, though.

Yup, I would've been 5-7. That explains why I don't remember details of the show.

I was also 2 in 1974, but I vaguely remember some of this show after seeing some pictures (especially that Chaka monkey boy), so I'm thinking it might have gone into syndication for a while...

I don't remember the Sleestacks either...they would've given me nightmares!

I think the connections made to Lost are interesting, but it's kinda weird that John Locke is the same name as an ACTOR from Land of the Lost, not a character's name from the show. Maybe one of the writers or producers of Lost is related to him?

Now I'm confused

An actor by the name John Locke played the lead Sleestak in the tv series Land of the Lost. The Sleestack lived in caves and underground.

The character John Locke on the tv series Lost wants to go underground.

Coincidence...I think not!!!!!!

You also have the connection to John Locke the philosopher.

I haven't really studied philosophy, but from reading the links above I see a lot of connections to his character.

Also, after reading how they had a really short time to put the show together, I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the writing and character development. Just to use Locke as an example, they've incorporated characteristics from J.L.'s character in Land of the Lost, and the philosopher and seamlessly created a complex character. Or, on second thought, they didn't have a lot of time to write the shows so they just stole previous ideas??
Who knows... :confused3

More has to be known about Locke pre island

Dumb question alert: What movies has Naveen Andrews (Sayid) been in?

Not a dumb question! I've personally been on a Naveen Andrews movie kick...hey, a girls gotta do something while waiting for the new season, right?

So far I've seen:

The English Patient
Drowning on Dry Land
Easy

I have Bride and Prejudice coming from netflix after its 7/5 dvd release.

Thanks for posting the release date, I've been wondering when it was coming out. I hear he was really good in it.

It's a great movie! If you're going to see it with someone who hasn't seen Indian films before, you might want to warn them that there's a lot of singing and dancing in the movie. I watched it with some guy friends (who only wanted to see Aishwarya Rai) and were not expecting the musical parts.

I didn't know that Naveen Andrews was dating Barbara Hershey. Interesting!

:teeth: It was still in theaters when DH and I were looking for a movie to see on our anniversary. We didn't want to see something too heavy or violent so I suggested this movie with full disclosure and I have to say he was not too interested. I guess it was good for him our dinner ran way long and the movie had already started.

Have you ever read Pride and Prejudice? I know the movie is only loosly based on it, but that's my favorite book (and movie - the A&E production) so I'm wondering if I'll be disappointed in the different version of the movie?

No I haven't. It's one of those movies that I keep meaning to see but never get around to :) My friend has the version with Colin Firth in it (she's a huge fan of his) so I'll ask her about it the next time I see her.

That's the one I'm talking about. Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy :lovestruc
It's about 6 hours long, but sooo good.

Here's a peek at Mr Darcy!

There's also a huge age difference between them as well but I would love to trade places with Maggie Grace to be honest :)
