Could be that's the only line in the song that makes sense??

It could be a clue to something, or it could just be a tattoo Dominic Monaghan has and wasn't covered up.

Annette, interesting theories tvguideonline has. They left off my personal favorite -- the plane went through a wormhole of some sort and ended up in some limbo or otherdimensional place, similar to "The Land of the Lost", "The Land of the Giants", or "Sliders." That would explain how a polar bear ended up there; it fell into one in the Arctic while the Oceanic plane went through one in the South Pacific.

If I'm not mistaken, I think he meant, was it in the coffin when it was loaded onto the plane? Remeber the argument that Jack had with the agent. Maybe they loaded the coffin to appease him, but kept it empty so as not to break the rules?

I thought the same thing. He begged her to put him on the plane, but in the end, she couldn't break the rules. Which is why the coffin was empty. Dad's back in Sydney.

I've got to go back and look at the show. For some reason I could have sworn that when Jack first found the coffin there was a hand sticking out from it. Did anyone else see it? Or am I just immagining it? Locke told Jack he had to take care of whatever had brought him out into the jungle and only then could he become a leader. I got the impression that when he smashed up the coffin that was in some way freeing him from the whole thing with his father because when he got back to camp he gave his "we gotta pull together" speech and said "we can live together or die alone" which is a line he got from someone else, I just don't remember who.

Facing their fears is an interesting idea. Like the woman scuba diver that was carried out by a rip tide. Wouldn't you think that that was something she would be afraid of? And in her case, she died because of it.

And the one guy, the doctor, didn't his dad say he was basically worthless or something like that? Not being able to save the swimmer would add to that.

Kate isn't a criminal, but she was part of an experiment (and that's why she's dangerous). She's psychic and she's the one who made the plane crash (remember, she didn't want to go back -- and just because she might be able to do things doesn't mean she can control it).


However, after last night's episode I think DH & I need to re-think that. I'm wondering if all of the survivors don't have some sort of psychic ability or something. It was pointed out in TV Guide that the little boy who found the comic book had the page open to something with polar bears. Hmmm...and they killed a polar bear. Could it have something to do with him? Reading/thinking about polar bears and then there one is?

So far many of the survivors (that we've been exposed to) have gotten what they wanted -- though not necessarily HOW they wanted it. Kate is "free"; Locke can walk; little boy got his dog; Jack got to "see" his father again.

The tatoo quote on Charlie's neck also has me thinking. It's been emphasized that EVERYTHING means something. Are the survivor's eyes closed to something? Or are they just misunderstanding what they see? Or as the song continues "Nothing is real"....

I love this show...it gets to you and really makes you think OUTSIDE of the box.

I too was wondering about the coffin. It was very hard to tell if it was empty or not...but I was leaning towards...not......but I thought it was because the body got left in Sydney.

My one complaint about the show (and a lot of shows) is that sometimes it is just too dark and you cant see what you are supposed to see. ( I know it was supposed to be dark and he had a torch but c'mon...we need to see ....lol)

I think it was supposed to be symbolic that his dad led him to the water.....maybe he was trying to tell him that he would be a good leader.....(especially after the rotten things he told him as a child! ) Kind of like an atonement thing.

I think the tattoo is significant too....I read somewhere that every prop is put there on purpose as a clue. (TV guide, maybe?)....like with the comic book.

The coffin was definately empty when he started smashing it, but I still think I saw a hand sticking out of it when he first saw it.

I also had the problem of my Tivo cutting off before the ending so I did not get to see the previews for next week.

Absolutely hooked on this show. No idea where it's taking us, but I will enjoy the ride!

My two cents: just before the characters see something in the jungle, there's a sound bite that's a hint. With Jack's Dad, it was tinkling ice. With the monster, there was a mechanical grinding sound!

I'm wondering how the antique doll collection is going to play into the plot.

I'm not sure I buy the crossing over bit. If they are already dead, why are people dying?

Another theory.......its seems all of these people have issues in their past that they need to resolve before getting rescued. Each week the show focuses on one individual and their past and then by the end of the show it seems that they confronted their pasts and have accepted it. Just a thougt

Well, it would make DH happier if they were all dead. I taped all the episodes for him while he was deployed, and his first comment was, "If the plane really started hitting the turbulance and falling apart at 40,000 feet [like Jack said in the pilot], it would have hit terminal velocity before crashing and no one would have survived." (It's not really fun to watch this show with a pilot! )

That's so funny. DFIL is the same way. You can't watch any airplane/pilot shows with him as he will point out every inconsistency .

I'm leaning towards that they are dead and need to resolve something before they can pass to the other side. Could possibly explain the deaths of the marshall and the scuba girl. Maybe their "thing" was resolved. Although, I would think that would be part of the plot. Unless they're just trying to throw us off. Who knows. But, I'm just dying (bad pun, I know) to find out!!!

I'm headed in the opposite direction for the same reasons, I don't think they are dead because of the marshall's and lady's death. I'm thinking they are in some kind of Bermuda Triangle type thing.

It sure is a good show. I told my husband (we will be in Orlando next week) that he will have to go to the Orlando Magic Basketball game by himself Weds night because I will have to stay in to watch Lost I'm hoping the condo will have a VCR and not one that just plays tapes so I can record it, next weeks episode looks really good.

Ok help me understand this:

If the older man (i cannot think of his name) went in the jungle and saw the creature in front of him then how come the creature did not eat him up and why did the old man say I saw a beautiful thing in the forest to the Doctor. Why did he not tell anyone he saw the creature. I mean he did see something and that something ate the pilot.
