Years ago (8? 15? definitely longer than 4), Jack worked to save the life of a young woman with spinal damage and was convinced she would never walk again. After Jack meets this stranger named Desmond, she can. Now, the plane crashes on the island and Locke can walk, and guess who we find on the island? Yep, Desmond. Coincidence? Not on this show.

Magic? Some sort of advanced science? Or what?

Destiny Do you think Jack will be more apt to listen to Locke from now on??? Their biggest disagreement is about why they are on the island and now a face from Jack's past is there, he's got to be freaking out even more now.

Well, I must admit that I READ the spoilers.... and it didn't detract at all from this episode for me!!! WOW. I still dont' "GET" it.... It is still weird and still fun. I am sure Jack is just freaking out.
Anyone have any clue what the heck could be happening?
And there is no way that Desmond has been in the hatch that LONG. he is not old enough. BUT, that must be the only music that was in there, yes? OLD record albums (we still have ours!! LOL). And is that STEROIDS he is injecting himself with? Or some sort of immunizations? Quarantine???? maybe something to keep him from 'catching' whatever the rest of them 'caught' on the island????
I don't know.... just throwing some stuff out.
I LOVE this show.

Did anyone notice the dish soap? That kind of threw me, there was something off about it, it looked like a newer brand. At first I was thinking it was in the hatch then I saw that and I wasn't too sure. I will have to go back and look at it closer tonight.

Did we start a new LOST thread? What happened to the old one? I don't have time to read back on these posts, but WOW, the show was good last night.

I was disappointed though that we have to wait until next week to find out what happened to the guys on the raft.

Someone needs to start a new thread. I would do it, but I don't think I'll be around much. I didn't like the season premier. It's like they're just writing as they go along and pulling stuff right out of the air. They didn't "hook" me but I'll watch next week as I've already invested so much into this show. I'm quite disappointed. They better get somewhere and fast.

Yes, that was new dish soap--we have that exact brand of soap and container at home--I think it's Joy.

We didn't get to see Locke or Kate's reaction to Desmond. Wouldn't it be interesting if both of them also said, "YOU!" As in, maybe that is one more thing they all have in common and we will see him in all the backstories...

This might as well be the official thread for the new season. It's come so far, why start a new one?

I have a hard time wading through all the previous pages. Was I on page 195 or 201? Hmm ... I think it would be easier (at least for the first couple of months) to have a new thread for this season. We can link back to this thread in the first post so it would never get lost. Plus, once a thread gets really, really long the Webmasters will force a closure and start a new thread. It just makes sense to me to do it now since the season just started. We have have the Season 1 thread and the Season 2 thread and not a Season 1 thread with part of Season 2 and then the rest of Season 2 in another thread.

I just like "order", I guess. I'm just a part-time poster on this thread, though. I don't want to step on the toes of the more frequent posters.

Hey Lost Fans!

I wish we could have seen the guys on the raft more, and what is happening with them.

My first thought about the guy in the hatch is -where did he get the berries to make the smoothie? If he has been in there a long time, he would run out of food. And he has running water and electricity in there.... Is there another entrance? Does he come in and out? I knew it would be the guy at the stadium too.

What is up with the key on Jacks neck lifting up in the air? Magnetic force? or something else?? I hope this show doesn't get too freaky and abnormal!

No, Kate won't get killed off, she is a lead character.

If I remember correctly, Jack and Sarah don't actually get married. He called it off right before the wedding didn't he? Or they did get married and it didn't last. I remember that from a previous episode. It was the whole-you are my hero, you made me walk, I am your healer thing, then they realized that they didn't have anything else to their relationship or something like that.
Anyone else remember that?
(what a jerk the fiance is-not even there when she gets out of surgery!)

Funny because I had exactly the opposite reaction. IMO it's obvious they have had an outline for the charcter connections for some time. I also think the things revealed last night will pay off many more of the unexplained island questions from last season as the second season plays out.

The extras on the fist season DVD also make it quite clear the seasons have a completed outline.

The parts that likely are made up as they go along are the ways people act on the island day by day in reaction to fan sites. How often they take off their shirts, get wet, shave, etc.

I don't think we know what happened to their marriage yet. They were shown at the altar, but not after.

The entire second season is already outlined and approved by JJA. I think their philosophy is "answer a question, pose three more" We now know "what's in the hatch", but boy-o-boy do we have more questions now!

So if Desmond is inoculating himself against whatever is 'outside', have our people been contaminated? Which is probably why Desmond is NOT glad to see them.

Did anyone get a close look at the artwork painted/drawn on the walls....and then wasn't there a pile of paint cans that were covered in cobwebs too? Maybe Desmond isn't the original inhabitant. I hope somebody who taped it can give us some details that we couldn't catch while watching.

It was scene with Charlie and Jack discussing Kate going with Locke and how Charlie felt Kate was "asking" Jack's permission and hoping he'd stop her from going. It was probably cut from showing right before Jack tells Hurley he's going to the hatch, at least it would explain Jack changing his mind.
