LOST.Discuss the current episodes SEASON PREMIERE Wednesday!!!!

I thought it was a great cliff-hanger, there are three people we don't know will be alive next season or not and Walt kipnapped.
I'm wondering if they will kill all three of them off. They're 15 miles off shore with no raft. Granted there will be pieces that probably won't sink, but how long can they drift out in the water. I'm wondering if the "others" (I'm assuming they're the "others" Danielle is talking about) will come back to see if any of them are alive and if they are, they'll take them hostage too. Maybe they have the survivors from the tail and this will be a way to bring them into the storyline, by having Michael, Jin and Sawyer there as familiar characters for the viewers to make it easier to intoduce new people onto the show. ( I hope that made sense ;) )
I also read Arnzt will be back next season, so I was totally surprised he blew up.
I think the mechanical noises was the chain wrapped around Locke's foot as it was pulling him down into the hole. If it wasn't a monster, I'm not sure Locke would have looked so scared. He looked really scared at what he was seeing, if it was something mechanical would he have been so scared?

Does anyone have a stillshot of the "monster". I have tivo and I still couldn't get a great look at it.

I was very shocked to see the fear in Locke's face. That does make it seem like the monster isn't mechanical, but those sounds...I just can't get over that!

Maybe the three will float over to another part of the island and find other survivors??

To many commercials. I was at choir practice and my daughter recorded it for me. I was able to watch the whole thing in 1 hour and ten minutes fast forwarding through the commercials.

My question. On the raft Sawyer is talking to Michael and Michael says either your a hero or your trying to kill yourself. Sawyer's reply was well I aint no Hero. There has to be significance to this statement. It has to be a clue as to something that Sawyer is going to do. What do you think?

Exactly. As I said earlier - when have we EVER seen fear on the face of John Locke.

And what did Jack mean when he told Kate "If we get this hatch open...we're goign to have a "locke" problem?"

"I like twinkies too" heheheh

"Prey" by Michael Crichton. The black shadowy smoke did remind me of the swarming nanites in "Prey" and also the hell-dwellers that claim the evil dead in "Ghost."

The mechanical sounds remind me of an ascending roller coaster.

I disagree that Hurley's gesture to Walt on the plane was of no consequence. They are all interconnected, and there must be something about Walt & Hurley's connection we don't know yet.

Great finale. Can't wait to get my DVDs.

Okay here is my latest theory;

The Others live underground and the Hatch is a way out. The wispers that they heard are coming from air vents in the jungle that are hidden by the vegetation. The Island could be a secret military or scientific lab that does work on special abilities like Walt seems to have and that is why they want him. He may have told them not to open the hatch because maybe there is something at the bottom of that shouldn't be let out.

The black smoke was set up by Danielle to lure the Others to the beach so she could give them the baby. As for the boat blowing up it did look like there was a pretty big piece of it left behind Michael. And the Others could be wearing heavy winter clothes because it would be cold underground and on the water. I don't think they may have been out there looking for the raft, they were headed away when the flair went off and I think they were just patrolling the water. I think when they turned the light on the raft they realized that Walt was there, because it seemed that the other boat hesitated before coming closer.

I too was surprised by Locke's look of fear but then later on he wanted to go down that hole so he couldn't have been too worried. :confused3

Barbeml, that's It! It was Prey... very good book and the first thing I thought about when I saw the cloud. In the book the nanites made the same sound as the monster..helicoptery.

:earseek:

and Walt knew, on some level, that these 'others' were after him.

Locked basically camped out at that hatch...so there must be other ways in/out?

I'm hooked and I have loved reading your thoughts on Lost. I can't wait for Season One to come out on DVD. This is one of the best shows on TV now!!

I think that the girl on the boat is Alex, the others were after Walt and have so many questions that need answers. I hope Sawyer saves the day and will be around for another season!

After what was said about him not wanting to be a hero etc etc I dont think that theyd just kill him off like that with out anything being said so i think he was prob just wounded and there was a huge hunk of the boat left behind them and there was a blond haired women standing on the boat with the Others...

I still dont get the whole thing about them needing the boy and how that kid knew something was after him...

Hi, everyone :wave2: Lost is one of my favorite shows, and I really like reading this thread with everyone's opinions and observations.

I too noticed the girl on the boat and wondered if she was Alex. I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking that. DH never noticed her.

However, DH and I both heard something else that no one here has mentioned yet. When Jack, Kate, Locke, and Hurley are walking to the hatch, at one point Locke asks "Hugo" to get something. I wasn't able to play it back, but I'm sure that Locke called Hurley by his real name. How would he know this? I thought that Hurley never told anyone his name. Did anyone else catch this, or am I just hearing things!

Yes Locke did call Hurley, Hugo. I thought at the time that it seemed a little strange but he could have told him before, I missed a couple shows.

I think maybe Walt sensed that there is something down that hatch that should not be let out. I don't think he knew that the others wanted him, he was just as excited about the boat as everyone else and wasn't scared when they first showed up.

I think there could be more than one way in and out of whatever that hatch is attached to. Since they have a boat there could also be a cave that is on the water that they go in and out of.

No, you're not hearing things :) He did call him Hugo and it threw me off too because we've never heard it before

I loved the season finale!

I thought when Jack asked Kate if she had his back it was another sign that the camp is going to be split, those with Jack & those with Locke.

I think Sawyer, Jin & Michael will all end up back on the island since Artz told them the tradewinds are getting ready to change. :confused3

I loved Shannon's reaction when Sayid came back at the end. Me likes a little love story mixed in with all the drama & action. ::yes::

Sawyer with his hair tied back? HUBBA HUBBA!

Oh, I noticed Locke calling Hurley "Hugo", too. It surprised me, but I thought I missed when he told him his name. :confused3

Can't wait for the DVD's!!

It threw Hurley/Hugo off too.

he totally gave locke a double take...like "dude - how did you know that?"

After last night's episode I am thinking about "Lost" in whole new way. All along I had been trying to find some metaphysical reason for what is going on. Now I am beginning to think that "the others" are some sort of scientists or soldiers (perhaps testing and training psychic abillities, as a previous poster said).

As for the monster, it MUST be mechanical. When Charlie got bonked in the head by Rousseau's trap, Sayid pointed out that "she has been on the island a long time and has learend to set traps quickly." The "monster" must be a series of traps and levers (remember the Moustrap game Locke was showing a kid?) that spring up sometimes. The sounds and explosions last night confirmed my thinking on this. If the "monster" is not a machine someone has lots of 'splainin' to do.... or else I'll be doing lots of eyerolling.

The hatch must be the route to the center of the "Mousetrap". Whatever it turns out to be, it only opened up more questions for next year. I like the nanomachine theory regarding the mysterious black cloud, although I am wondering where and how anyone ever on the history of that island would be able to obtain what it takes to manufacture nanomachines. Talk about high tech!

One statement last night that sticks with me is when (I think) Sawyer said to Michael, upn looking at the islend from out at sea, "How could something that big be undiscovered?" Travel back with me to the miltary experimental theory... could we be talking cloaking devices? Also, if this is the case, could someone(s) have actually engineered chaos such as a plane crash in such a way that they could actually determine who woudl die and who would survive?

Meanwhile... I have some Artz on me.

Didn't Hurley sort of go off on some people in one episode, saying that his real name was Hugo? I vaguely remember him saying something along the lines of "my names not even Hurley, it's just a nickname..." and specifically mentioning that his name is Hugo but I don't remember the entire situation. Anyone else remember this?
