1.) Any ideas on the signficance of that big bird that flew away when they were returning with the dynamite? I only bring it up because it seemed that they made a point of showing the bird and we have never seen it before. Pretty big bird too.

It was very weird, I wonder if it could be like some kind of warning system, letting the "monster" know that there were people there.

3.) Funny thing I caught when re-watching the part when Locke is grabbed by the monster. The actor who plays Locke (can't thing of his name) had on knee pads when he was being dragged. In slow-mo, I caught it because for a split second his pant leg is pushed up and you can see a black knee pad. Can't say I blame him, especially being dragged like that. QUOTE]

To many commercials. I was at choir practice and my daughter recorded it for me. I was able to watch the whole thing in 1 hour and ten minutes fast forwarding through the commercials.

My question. On the raft Sawyer is talking to Michael and Michael says either your a hero or your trying to kill yourself. Sawyer's reply was well I aint no Hero. There has to be significance to this statement. It has to be a clue as to something that Sawyer is going to do. What do you think?

This may be wishful thinking since I don't want Sawyer to die, but I think he will end up being an "unlikely" hero. He's not as self centered as he seems. If you notice their faces when the others told them they were going to have to take the boy? Michael was like huh? and Sawyers face (particularly eyes) was filled with pure rage. I think he would have given his life to protect Walt. If he hadn't been shot and knocked off the raft I think he would have died fighting them.
I think Sawyer has a soft spot for children because of what happened to him. He wouldn't do the con when he saw his girlfriend's child, then he was reading to the baby. Seems like there was another example, but I can't remember what it was.

I agree w/ you here and think there is something in store for him. I, too, think he would risk his own life for Walt's. And I, too, noticed the look on his face when the others came to take Walt. Michael was like, "Hunh?!" But Sawyer had this look in his eyes like he had to react fast and I felt he jumped into action by grabbing his gun and positioning himself to fight to the death. There is so much more than meets the eye w/ him. I feel he will become an unlikely hero in the next season.

I dont think they would kill Sawyer off with out making a big deal about it on promos because for every other show when a character is going to be killed off they make a huge stink like "Some ones not going to make it" or something like that but they didnt do that plus it was very quick when he was shot and something like killing a character off isnt usually that fast but of course thats just IMHO

Psshh...and we wondered what we were going to do once the season was over. We'll be hashing this thing out and coming up with about 50 theories by fall.

Anyway, I missed about a total of 10 min of the show, and did not see "the smoke faces" but thanks for posting them, I freaked out when I saw them! I will be ordering the LOST Season 1 set in about, oh....10 min! Also, I agree about the show being based on Games!!

THere isn't really a good screen capture of Hurley in the hall of the hotel, but I re-watched the episode and he and Walt were definitley in the same hotel.
So....Hurley, Charlie, Walt and Michael were staying there for sure.

Some people believe there are faces in the smoke, others see eyes and a nose. I only saw the eyes and nose until someone actually edited the photo to show the faces. I'll see if I can do the same thing.

I saw it as one face, but I can see why people are seeing multiple... Remember though that we were told we would only see "part" of the monster.

I see the faces totally different I guess, I see a body attached to the one on the right, possibly wearing a suit and tie, and his face is looking the opposite way that bengalbelle outlined. I see two x's but no "no" and there looks to be some sort of body there too, a far away shot so it is small... Where are these pictures from, are we sure they weren't photoshopped or something? I'm a bit leary...

I saw 2 faces, I also watched it again frame by frame in my Tivo and I think it is at least 2 people because each face sorta disapates into a skeleton. Very POTC to me. If you have it on Tivo watch frame by frame after kate throws the dynamite into the hole.

I'm inclined to believe that there is more than one climate on the island. Rousseau has maps but the boaters were suprised at how big the island was.

Like I said I"m more confused than ever. I was thinking there might be some sort of wormhole action going on and I like the underground living theory nad the whispers are coming from 'vents.'

Wait a second, I just saw something! Look in the "heart shaped" cloud, it is Locke (or someone bald) looking through binoculars or something! Does anyone else see it, or am I crazy? WHy oh why did I erase the recording? Stupid OCD!!!

OK, the more I look at it, the more I see... glancing at it, it definately looks like someone with binoculars or with their hand shading their eyes, but then if you look more closely the neck is detached (torn) and there is a skull or jackolantern (silly, I know) very clearly there, right where the neck and shoulders meet... I gotta stop looking at this, I could virtually see anything I wanted to... I still think the other part is not just two faces, but bodies too.
