Hello wedding board,
Im lost at the moment. As you can see from my sig. we are booked for a wishes wedding for 11/10/10. We had Diane for a consultant(a total godsend) and got assigned Maxine Pollakis for a planner. Has anyone had experience with her? We sent an email to her but i cant wait for a response.(impatient) So I am enlisting the vast knowledge and experience of the Dis boards.
They refer to a Planning Kit often. What is this/when should we get it?
We received a random reservation confirmation letter from the GF for the night of our wedding. Why? I know when we booked they were running a promotion for 2 nights stay if booked by April.15. Is this part of that (Its a comf. for 1 night, our wedding night)
In regards to the comp. 2 nights How do you book them? (and this random GF room) can they all be combined into one reservation? (That ? may be more suited for other forum areas)
I ask because they sent a "reminder" to book our stay, but this is the cause of the most confusion for us due to us splitting our stay POR-GF-POR.
I have so many questions its not funny, these are the few that are perplexing me at the moment. I thought this would be "easy". I know now i was wrong. Sorry for the long wind and thanks for the help.

I am not as knowledgeable as a planner or some of the other DISbrides, but I am also planning a wishes wedding, so I will do my best to help you out.

My planner is not Maxine, but I know that my planner is very busy right now, so sometimes it takes her a little longer to reply to my emails (which is hard because we are so impatient lol) but she always does respond, and does so in a very professional and friendly way.

I received my planning kit not too long after I was assigned my planner. It came to me in email form and included a bunch of different PDF's that I had to go over and fill out. There was one big document that I had to basically fill out everything that I had planned for the wedding (i.e., hotels, who the wedding party is, music, plans for decorating, etc.) This is all preliminary stuff to help the planner get an idea of what you want for your wedding, and so that she has something to work from when you have your planning session. I believe it has to be sent to her a week before your planning session. I was also sent a cake DVD and a music CD in the mail shortly after. Oh, and there were some forms that I had previously seen, such as names of local officiants, salons, tailors etc. I didn't get mine too long ago, and my wedding is I believe a month or 2 before yours, so I would say you should be getting it any day!

As for the complimentary 2 nights, I booked my rooms with my travel agent, so I just had to get my reservation number from her, and give it to my planner, and as far as I know they are taking care of the rest.

So I hope that this helps you (even a little!). If you have any more questions, I would be glad to try and figure them out with you.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Mine will be 4 days after yours!

The random reservation letter you received was for your complimentary room night for the day of your wedding. Once your signed contract is finalized you'll receive a copy of the agreement along with a letter explaining how to redeem the two additional nights you received from booking when you did. You can add these nights to your reservation or create a separate one. You have from one month prior to the wedding until a year after to use the two free nights.

As the PP explained, most of the Planning Kit comes in an email which your Wedding Planner will send over. You'll also receive a CD of ceremony songs and a DVD of cake pictures in the mail. You'll need to fill out the questionnaire that comes with the Planning Kit at least a few weeks prior to your Planning Session so your planner has time to review.

HTH!

Thanks Disney9.9.10 and Princess_Jo
We have gotten all the emails, and cd's already. I figured thats what the planning kit was. Princess_Jo how long did it take to receive your LOA back?

Just wanted to say welcome and we were married in Disney on 11/10/08 so your wedding will be our 2 year anniversary. I will definately read your post more and see if I can answer any questions, although things have changed in 2 years.

Anyway, I am watching Lost now but just wanted to say hi.

Linda

We had Maxine as our planner. If you haven't talked to her already, she'll probably call you in a few days. She seemed to like talking more then email if I seemed especially confused :rotfl:

You'll get assigned a Reservations Specialist shortly as well, and they'll be able to help you sort out all of your reservation stuff. Our reservation specialist was Kristin and she was fantastic and helpful and we were totally indecisive and confused!

It is frustrating at first, because they send these general reminders, but don't expect you do anything about it. Give it a few weeks (I know it's so frustrating and makes you want to explode to wait - or at least it did for me :cutie:) and get to know your "team" and everything will definitely fall into place quickly.
