losing weight on the way to Mickey!

Down 2 more pounds for a total of 18. We have been lucky and have had nice weather so have been able to get outside to do my walks/jogs. Today is the last nice day and then we are back to rain and snow. I really wish spring would hurry up.

OK to still join this thread? Using my trip in June as some of my motivation! I bought us personalized shirts for the trip and when I got my usual (safe to be loose even at my heaviest size), it was moulded to my body. Yikes! That, plus my husband got diagnosed with diabetes last week and we are finally starting to take things seriously. I'm doing My Fitness Pal mostly, have my fitbit on, and am at least trying to add running into my dog-walking. Tried on the shirt again yesterday and it was much better already (although still way too tight). Have 3 weeks until a trip to Mexico, and then 2 months after that until Disney, so plenty of time if I take it seriously and don't fall off the wagon (I say after I already had a brownie today).

New to the boards and read this thread and thought I would post my own story as it fits perfectly with my life right now.

Last year I made the serious life changing decision to attempt to lose

Fast forward to today, I am now at 98 total pounds lost

The keys to weightloss I have found that help is understand that you can still enjoy the food you want while dieting. Moderation is key. You dont have to starve yourself or eat food you hate to diet.

Activity is the other key. Get up and walk!

A big congratulations on your 98 lb. weight loss!!!!
I agree - moderation is the key. That's the only way I can lose and keep it off. A 'diet' just doesn't get it for me, it has to be a way of life eating change. I can't deny myself any 'one' food group - I love my sweets and bread, so I just limit how much/how often, I can eat certain things.

I, too, just back from Disney and was worried I might have gained as we enjoyed eating mostly what we wanted, but with all the walking, thankfully I only gained 2 lbs. and immediately got back on my schedule of eating less, and walking.

Again, good luck to you, and you 'can' keep the lbs. off and enjoy life with your little ones. :goodvibes

Good Monday morning! Just weighed in and I will take it! I lost the pound and a half I gained last week! Not great but at least I didn't gain more. I always seem to backslide on weekends. :( and here lately I haven't gotten all my water in for the day. So................this week I need to concentrate on doing a few things better. Best wishes to everyone for a great week!

I am 63
Ht. 5' 1"
Cw 132.6
Gw 120

Understand completely! I am 68 and 5'2", so understand how extra weight can impact on a small frame. I've always needed to watch my weight, but after age 50, it has gotten harder and harder! :(

I lost 30lbs. last year in about 5 months, and this time I intend to keep it off - too hard to lose it at my age!! :) My biggest help, other than food in moderation, is exercising with Leslie Sansone dvd's 3-5 times a week for 45 min. (3 miles). She is the best!! :D

I'm in! I just rejoined Weight Watchers. The leader asked what brought me there (afterwards) and I got all verklempt when I admitted my son starts kinder in the fall and I don't want to be the "fat mom." I never realized how much it bothered me till I said it out loud.

We go to Disneyland June 4-10. I'd like to be down 30lbs by then. 40 by early August when school starts. I could lose 80 and still be considered overweight, but I'd be thrilled with 50 and keeping it off!

Hi all! Hope you are having a good week. My weigh ins the last 2 weeks have been dropping very slowly. Still dropping just at a snail's pace. I'm down 17.8 with 53.2 to go. Still working out 7 days a week. I feel my body is getting stronger too. I've gone down one shirt size, but my pants are still fine. They were pretty tight before as I said I wouldn't go higher... So now they prob. Fit correctly. I hope the weight loss will drop faster again soon. Still have 7ish months until Disney so I hope I can get a good bit of weight off by then. :tinker:send us all alittle tink magic! :earsboy:.

I am so excited I hit the 20 pound mark today! I still have a long way to go but I hit my first goal. I also received a nice bonus at work this year so I just booked 3 nights at Disney to visit the Flower and Garden Festival. I have never done a solo trip before so I am looking forward to "stopping and smelling the roses" this trip. I would like to lose 15 more pounds before I go in April. It look me 45 days to lose 20 so it is possible. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi,

1 lb lost this week. Sort of a bummer but if I think by to my first round of WW, losing was this slow at this weight for me. No exercise this week didn't help. Can't wait for some warmer weather. I am down under 140 now!!! Yay! My clothes feel a tad looser.

2 weeks to Disney. I think my bathing suit might fit ok by then!!

1lb. is still a loss! Good for you!

131.4 that is a gain :( posting it to keep me accountable. I am running out of time before my trip. Goals for the week......walk more, do not eat out, track what I eat.

Just joining... I am hoping to lose 20 lbs by June (my sons graduation) and another 5 by the time we go to Disney in July. I want to be at goal by december when we celebrate my friends 50th birthday on the cruise.
I have lost 2.6 lbs on WW since Jan 28 so the process is SLOW for me. My original goal was to lose 10 lbs within 2 months (which was the WW promotion - lose 10 lbs on us in 2 months). I am still trying to reach that goal but its a stretch at this point. I see a lot of people posting 2+ lbs a week lost... any suggestions on how to see that kind of success?

I'm right there with you. :/. I've lose 10.2 since the beginning of January. I just keep telling myself that at least I'm going down and not up!

SO, I have done WW before, but this program is new to me. The question is - how much of a change is the program from how you normally eat? After a month, a 1 lb per week loss is about average. It's not quick for most people.

For me, the trick is exercise. Even just getting to 10,000 steps 4 or 5 days a week speeds up the losing a LOT. For the most part my choices were pretty good before I started in January. So I've had to get pretty severe with what I'm choosing. Eat LOTS of veggies and fruit (mostly fruits and vegetables). I am eating lean protein, very low fat (almost no saturated fat), small amounts of bread or starch (try to keep those to whole grains). For this stage I have limited cheese, beans, nuts, peanut butter . . . all things that normally are my staples. That's leaving me 1 glass of wine a day, but some days I get hungry and have to give that up.

I lose faster if I don't eat those weekly Smart Points. I don't exercise enough to feel like I can use the Fit Points, so I'm just tracking them. I've only dipped into those for special occasions.

Please check back here. I think checking in and supporting each other really helps too.

We got this! Hang in there folks.

I've lost another pound. I'm at 18.9. I have 52.1 to go. I can see changes in my energy and my strength. I just wish it would speed up alittle. It has been slow! On March 3rd that will be the 2 month mark since I started this long journey. Keep up the amazing work everyone! We can do this! :mickeyjum

Ugh, after a bad cold, I got the flu! On the plus side, I lost more weight from that. Downside is you know that is coming right back on unless I'm careful. I'm just now feeling like I can shake a bit of the fatigue so am doing a bit more. Hopeful that I can get back into the exercise groove soon and follow the inspiring tracks of you all!

I've been trying to lose weight, for Mickey. Even though my trip isn't until late October/early November. But, I was born with a syndrome where my bones deteriorate as I get older (and I've had to have a lot of corrective surgeries to avoid further health risks), and my biggest problem right now is my severe back pain from my scoliosis. Which makes walking difficult for me, and having to use a wheelchair, for long distances. I know it's because I've taken on too much weight on my bones. But, I made a promise to myself that starting this month. I was going to moderate what I eat, and try to exercise more without overdoing it. I have been cutting out any kind of soda. Both diet, and regular, and that is really helping my weight go down.

I did lose about eight pounds last week. So, that's a good start. My goal is to be at my target weight of 120lbs.

Have you tried water exercises? I have CP and have had tendons and bones fused in my hips and ankles, Walking is great for me but swimming is almost no impact. Water walking may also be something to try.
