Losing cusstomers

I guess it makes people feel better to post how much money Disney is losing from them. But if the parks are even fuller than before, they are getting that money back from some other family. Who may be spending even more $$$.

My family will more than compensate for the people not spending as much. That's pretty much guaranteed ;)

The loss of my money may be insignificant to Disney, but it's not insignificant to me and others like me who are disappointed enough in the WDW experience to cut back or stop visiting the parks. It saddens me that the quality of a WDW vacation has diminished. I am also saddened by being constantly reminded on these boards that my voice, my money, and my opinions don't matter to Disney.

I agree. There are serveral messages on the board.

1).If you don't like it don't go.
2). If you don't go don't think it matters other families with deeper pockets will replace you.
3). Disney doesn't care what you think.
4). It's crowded at Disney parks so apparently it's just you.

Ah gee thanks.

It's their opinion not mine. I still have nostalgic feelings towards Disney but....

It saddens me that the quality of a WDW vacation has diminished.

IN YOUR OPINION. That's important. I LOVE FastPass+, think New Fantasyland in great, and think they knocked it out of the park with the latest Star Tours refurb. Be Our Guest is my favorite restaurant now, and I think the busing, entertainment, and customer service are as good as ever.

I keep going because I still think it's, far and away, the best vacation for the money. So remember, just because you think it's gone downhill doesn't mean everyone does.

Please re-read my post. I was not speaking for anyone else. I wrote it in the first person.

Understood and respected, but I don't think Disney really cares that much about any one person's opinion. Nor should they. Look at how many guests they have come through WDW every year. They have to look at the bigger picture. That means they will sometimes do things that upset some people, and other times do things that upset different people. They're still making a ton of money at the parks, so the general consensus must still be that they're doing most things right.

It is true that the general presentation of your post was in the first person. However, the voice of the statement "It saddens me that the quality of a WDW vacation has diminished" is not an expression of your unique opinion as you might mean it to be. The implication is that this lowered quality is a general truth, and the part that personal applies to you is that you are saddened by it, whereas someone else might be thrilled that the quality is diminished.

To truly express this as a first person opinion in the way that I think you meant, it should be written more like one of the following two examples:

-- "It saddens me that the quality of my WDW vacation has diminished"
-- "It saddens me that the quality of a WDW vacation has diminished for me"

I am not trying to be nitpicky, but these minor changes of wording are important and explain why your statement was received as it was by many readers who might not agree with you about their experiences of a WDW vacation.

Yes, thanks again for reminding me that I don't really matter in the great scheme of things. Good to know.

I happen to think Disney wants both MY money AND the money of those people with deeper pockets. It's not like the park closes to capacity very many days of the year. They want the old customers AND the new customers.

I'm sure they still do want you to be happy, but they're not about to make major changes to their operation to accommodate just you. Especially when those changes might upset a lot of other people.

Why the grammar lesson?

I prefer to just take the PP at her word that it was intended to be a representation of her personal feelings.

I would hope so as well. I was just putting down a synopsis of what I have read. I don't think that this everyone's opinion.

I agree with you. I don't think that any business just wants new customers at expense of the old ones. Look what happened to Jcpenney's when they alienated some of their customers.

You're right about that. But are more people satisfied now that FP+ has been implemented? Neither of us can knows. All we can do is speak for ourselves and then wait a see what happens. I compare it to any major change a company makes, none of us will know what the long term effect will be. It's only been 1 year since FP+ was completely implemented.

Didn't sound so much like a grammar lesson as it did advice on how to best emphasize the fact that you're stating only your own opinion.

My reply was essentially saying that it might not be that Disney doesn't care about her so much as it is they're accommodating other people in spite of her concerns.

I think people have such high expectations that disney can't always live up to. People want updates but yet don't want closures or construction. I find a lot of the newbies go without planning or abit of research then get upset that the lines are long and can't get a ressie at resturants. You can go without planning but you must expect to maybe not be able to do some things you want. I know we spend lots of money on these trips and want everything perfect but it's not always going to go as planned. I laugh sometimes at what people get upset over especially when it's something that could have been avoided. Disney is going to make mistakes like any other vacation destination but sometimes your attitude with dealing with it can make or break your trip!

This year will be our 10th annual family trip to WDW. Not sure when this time was that you could go without planning and still have the best possible experience, but it had to be before 2006.

My last great trip was in 2009. I have gone 7 times since then and it's been downhill ever since.

Very true. But sometimes I feel like Disney has a good part in building those high expectations. When you represent a CM in a commercial with magical fairy wings I'm just saying

1) This advice is sound. Why go somewhere on vacation that you are no longer happy or excited about?
2) In the grand scheme of WDW revenue it doesn't matter, however it matters a great deal to YOU. If you feel that WDW is essentially becoming a rip-off, not throwing money at it is probably the best course of action, for your own sanity if nothing else.
3) Disney does care more than a lot of companies, but in any business you can't chase every customer. There is no way to make everyone happy, all the time. Once, in college, I met a stranger on a train while traveling with a friend who had been in the College Program. This stranger overheard us happily talking about WDW and interjected with a long-winded dissertation on why TWDC was the root of all evil. Do you think Disney should care about his opinion? NOTE: I'm not saying anyone here is like that, it's just an extreme example (and an unpleasant experience that has stayed with me all these years :o) that illustrates the point that not everyone is going to love Disney or the changes they're making and they can't possibly turn all of those people around.
4) Not just you, not by a long shot. But in the end, if there is a net gain...

No Disney can't chase every customer but they can't afford to alienate them all either. And at this point they haven't. But at what point do they get there.. I am there and I went to the competition in Orlando instead and am happier for it.

What point that other reach what I got to in anybody's guess. When they get priced out as well? The advice may be sound but it can FEELS harsh at times and FEELS at times like "Disney doesn't care about you." Whether that is true or not. Or whether that WAS THE intention of the posters or not. Maybe it's just hitting a sensitive spot.
