LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

Hi everyone .. just found this site and would love some encouragement ... I'm sailing on April 29, and started Weight Watchers last week. Lost 4.4 pounds in the first week. Although I have a lot more to lose, my goal is to be down 25 pounds before I cruise. I hope to be booking a 2013 cruise tomorrow and would like to be down at least another 50 pounds before that. At a pound a week, its doable I hope ... just have to stick to the program this time :worship:

Hi All, can I join in please? I have lots to lose....82 pounds and I would like to lose this before my EBTA in May 2013 :-)

I previously lost 36 pounds last year but have put it all back in the last couple of months :-( silly me!!

Welcome to both of you! MJGirl, good choice to go with Weight Watchers! It's the most successful plan in the world! I've been back with it since December 9 and I'm very pleased with my results. Tink, I had the same experience as you a few years ago. Lost 30+ pounds, quit going to meetings because I figured I could just do it on my own, and slowly the weight crept back on. NEVER AGAIN! This time I'm GOING to make it to my goal, even if it takes me 2 years. And I'm keeping it off!

Went to weigh-in this morning and I'm down another 1.2 for a total of 11 pounds. HURRAY! The next couple of weeks are going to be a little harder because I'll be traveling and won't have as much access to all the wonderful fresh fruits and veggies I have at home and I won't have my wonderful WW leader to help. But I'm going to find a grocery store and try to get as many good snack choices as I can. Also, I'm going to see if I can find meetings in the cities I'm in for the 2 Fridays I'll be gone.

Thank you Tracy :-)

Do you recommend WW then? I have always calorie counted in my own and think that's why I have put all my weight back on, nobody to keep an eye on me :-)

things aren't going so well on my end! i had my WI today with WW and after a good healthy week salads & 11 points in activity, i gained 2.2... it is my goal to be down 26lbs by april 30 for my cruise. :/

I want in!!!! We are cruising at the end of October and I want to lose 40lbs by then. I used to be in a really stressful work environment and I packed on the pounds (not to mention the two kids that are the loves of my life and worth every pound but they did take a toll on my tummy!). But now I am in a better job (surrounded by people with healthy lifestyles) so I hope that will help. I'm thinking of joining WW but I can't decide to go on-line or meetings. I'm usually a pretty shy person so meetings scare me but I'm worried I won't be able to keep up with it on-line. Does anyone know if you can switch if you join one way and change your mind to the other?

Wow this thread is fabulous!!!!!

We are cruising in 12 days:cheer2:

January 9th 2012 I decided that I needed to loose 20 pounds before I could board the Disney Dream! It was a gift for you to myself for my 40th Birhtday cruise:thumbsup2

We are leaving in 8 days, and I've lost 18 pounds so far!!!! So glad, I'm sure I'm gonna get to my goal and more before we leave!!!!!!:woohoo:

Still 40 pounds to go after that! :yay:

Just booked the July 14th 7 day cruise on the Fantasy. I need to lose about 60 pounds, but I just want to lose as much as possible in between now and then. I can't wait! Glad to see the support group.:cool1:
I haven't really had good motivation... but a swimsuit on a DISNEY CRUISE is pretty great motivation! I'm so excited!:yay:

I'm in too. Cruising in 99 days. I am a carb..sugar aholic..
Not sure what plan I am going to try, I did WW and at ont time I did a no carb, that was too hard for me. I need to go to the gym, or walk or something.. So I feel like this is my first step to post on here that I would Love to lose 20 pounds before my cruise to Alaska.
Then when I read your posts it will encourage me.
I was always thin Most of my whole life, had 6 children then when I hit 45, it wouldn't come off so fast. Now at almost 55 I have a serious stomach pooch. I hate it, so gotta work at this. Thanks for having it. We shall see!

@Tink1987 yes, I highly recommend WW. It's absolutely the only way I could do it. I've tried so many times to do it on my own unsuccessfully. There's a reason WW is THE most successful weight loss program in the world. It works.

That being said, for me, the power in the program is the accountability. I've learned over the years that if I don't have to go weigh in with another human being, it won't stay the course. For me, the WW program of free fruits and veggies and counting points just works, but for someone else, maybe just getting together with a group and weighing in would be enough.

I was traveling for 2 weeks so I missed 3 meetings. It was really tough to stick to the program while shuttling between hotels, airports, etc. My saving grace was that we were walking SO MUCH that my pedometer registerd 15-22k steps every day. That balanced out the bad food choices pretty well and when I came home I weighed in and was down 2 more pounds for a total of 13 since December 9.

We cruise in just over a month and I'm really hoping to get to that 10% goal before we go. That would require almost a 6lb loss, which is kind of unlikely but that's okay. I won't be devastated if it doesn't happen. I'm just glad to be consistently heading the right direction!

Went to Curves today... First time I have excersized in a long time....
Thanks for this... Keep up the encouragement...

Went to weigh-in this morning and was down another 1.4 for a total of 14.4lbs. Was really hoping for that 5# sticker, but I'm not complaining!

I also exceeded my activity goal this week (which is good because I was just under it last week). It's getting easier to get those APs in. I guess I'm gaining energy the more I do!

Subscribing! This is just what I need, I think!

I went back to Jenny Craig at the beginning of December because I wanted a program that did most of the preparation for me. I've been consistently losing a pound or two each week, which is great, and I've been trying to add in exercise, too.

Last summer, my brother (who's a doctor and extremely fit - always has been, unlike MOI) put a seed in my head: he said to try to lose one pound a week and in a year, I'd be down 50 pounds! It's not so overwhelming when I look at it that way.

Looking forward to giving and receiving encouragement with the rest of you! :cheer2:

Curves again... Sorry, if I posted this here, but it helps keep me accountable...

Weighed in yesterday and I'm down another pound for a total of 16.6! :thumbsup2

22 weeks until my cruise, so my goal is to be down another 22 (one pound a week average) when we set sail. :woohoo:

I've been drinking my water this weekend (not my strong suit) and my goal is to drink at least 48 oz. of water every day and work out on the elliptical 4 days this week.

Hi, I am in the very slow and long process of losing the baby fat...the youngest baby is now 7 1/2...years that is, lol. Anyway, I have been going to zumba for about two years and I hope to get certified as a zumba instructor this year.

Anyone know whether Disney will make a place available to zumba on board for an hour:banana::banana:? One of the adult areas during the morning would be easy, right? Any idea who to contact? Anyone have any experience with this kind of request?

I will be on the Fantasy new years eve cruise of 2013 and hate to not do it for a week. And if I find a place to do it, anyone would be welcome to join me....

Thanks very much for the info, WW have a great deal on at the moment here in the UK so may sign up!

I want the whole shock tactics of weighing in in front of other people. At home I can just jump off the scales, put them away and pretend it hasn't happened! At a class, I can't do that and I think the support would be fab!

For the last 3 weeks, I have had a chest infection and haven't had any appetite at all. Lost 11 pounds now, so I am expecting that to go back on when I do regain my appetite! Bit upset as I wanted to lose some proper poundage before I go to Paris and Disneyland Paris in March.

Good Luck to everyone this week :cheer2:

Good Luck - really hope it works out for you to become a instructor!

I have never tried Zumba - is it as good and fun as it looks? Theres a good DVD pack you can buy here in the UK - it has over 6 Zumba exercises and looks really good!

Well, good news for me this morning :cool1::cool1:

We are 2 days away from leaving for our Dream Cruise, and and the most exciting part, is that I achieve my first goal that was to loose 20 pounds before this cruise:woohoo::woohoo:

Now, I have to keep going, step by step to my next goal:yay:

Zumba can be great. The dvd collections are ok if you will do them. If you want more fun, do it in a group or go to a class. I have been fortunate to find great instructors who bring the party to the gym. I want to do that, lol.

To see the difference between dvd and live experiences, go to youtube and search for club z in NY or Hot Dot Fitness. . . Or SensaZao Crew. SensaZao is fabulous. . . When on vacation in Washington DC, a trip to the Sensa studio was mandatory, lol. Try it all and see what you like best.

I was SUPER worried about my weigh in this morning. Last week had a farewell lunch for an old friend at an Italian Restaurant (emotions + pasta = a losing battle for willpower) AND my dd's Girl Scout cookies :guilty:(which I ordered BEFORE I joined WW) came in. So, I was very much expecting a gain and was hoping :worship:to just stay the same. BUT I lost 2.7lbs!!!!!!!! :cool1: That is the biggest loss I've had (o.k. it's only been 3 weeks but...)!!!!!! Maybe I should plan on eating more of my weekly points. I'd been trying NOT to use those. :confused3.

13lbs to go for my first goal of 10%! Looks like there is a shot to get there before bathing suit season  For the first time I'm thinking I can do this!
