LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

Cruisin' in 4 weeks. I am down 20 lbs since Dec. 27. I have my goal for this cruise. Now another 45 lbs. for my November cruise.

I agree with Tracy that weight watchers works.

This time, I decided not to join WW but put the money towards a gym. The monthly gym membership is about the same price as WW online / meetings program. I have support from a group at work that meets weekly. This seems to be working better for me then WW.

Hi everyone .. just found this site and would love some encouragement ... I'm sailing on April 29, and started Weight Watchers last week. Lost 4.4 pounds in the first week. Although I have a lot more to lose, my goal is to be down 25 pounds before I cruise. I hope to be booking a 2013 cruise tomorrow and would like to be down at least another 50 pounds before that. At a pound a week, its doable I hope ... just have to stick to the program this time :worship:

Hey MJ, as the weather improves, if you want to go for a walk, drop on by. We will have to get together when I return from the maiden voyage. We can motivate each other to work on weight loss.

Hi gang ~ lots of good results posted this past week! I was down another 1.6 yesterday, as I creep steadily towards my 10% weight loss goal, which will also get me out of "the twos" :cool1:

Travelling to Tulsa for work Monday through Wednesday, so that is my challenge for this week. But I'm packing my sneakers and my workout clothes and hoping there is somewhere nearby the hotel to walk, since the temps are forecasted to be in the high 60s low 70s. Would love to walk outside if I can.

Have a great week everyone!

Lost a pound this week for a total of 21 lbs. 3 weeks before we leave for our cruise.

Well, even with travelling last week (and a few beers with co-workers!), which cut into my exercising, I still managed to go down 0.6 pounds. I was honestly hoping to stay the same, so I'm happy with this, and I'm motivated to kick back into my routine this week.

Stay motivated everyone!

Lost 2 lbs for a total of 23 lbs. and two weeks before I cruise. Disney Fantasy Maiden Voyage, here I come.

I am starting to think of the next stage of my weight loss. 40 lbs between Apr8 to Nov24 (approx. 7 1/2 months).

Keep focused everyone.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted here before.
A few years ago I lost about 50 pounds and joined the military.
I gained 20 back right away and then I gained 30 pounds in 2011 :scared1: and I hit my top weight again.

Well, as of today I am down 15 pounds since the first of the year! :cool1:
I really haven't been trying to lose at all. I'm contributing it to leaving the military the end of last year and having that stress taking off of me and living with my now husband. He is such a good influence in what I eat, plus I had a very hard time cooking for one. I would end up cooking too much and overeating or eat processed junk. He is still in the military and he has to watch his weight so we just don't keep much snack food in the house.

Since I have lost so much with virtually no effort I figure it is time to kick it in to gear and start working out again and eating even better.
I am starting to take walks, our apartment complex has a short trail. And as soon as the weather get a little better I want to start swimming.
I have a juicer I just set up and I am starting to make myself a drink every morning. In a few weeks I would like to do a juice detox.

We got married on Feb 1 and are cruising again Feb 2013. I would like to be down 40 pound by then. It is more than 10 months from now so I know I can do it with hard work.

Thanks for letting me share!! I'm off to talk a walk now!

I weighed this morning and have lost a total of ..... 10lbs!!!!!! :cheer2: 8 more lbs to my WW10% mini-goal!!!!!

I can totally do this! :thumbsup2

Congratulations everyone on your wins! I am 8 more sleeps before I leave for my cruise, and I have lost 25.6 lbs. This week, I lost 2.6lbs. Would love to loss another 2.4 before I go, but losing over 2 lbs. in a week is a lot of week, so I will drink my water, record my food and exercise, and I will accept what comes my way.

So I'm the exact same weight I was last week. I am pretty happy I maintained as my birthday was on Wednesday and I ate pretty bad! I also didn't exercise nearly enough. I had a great workout today and am on track for a great week! It has been a week and a half since I have had any soda though!

Hi Everyone!

We leave for our cruise on November, 25th 2012 and ideally I would like to lose 20 lbs before then. That would get me almost to my pre baby weight. My daughter is now 6, so it's been slow going. I will be more than happy with 10 - 15lbs. by the time of the cruise.

I have joined the gym and trying to work on my eating habits. I have a gym/diet partner here at work finally and that is definitely helping my progress.

Congrats to everyone on your wins!!! We're sailing in just under a year and my goal is 40 pounds. I have a 16 month old and am very happy to be 10 pounds under my pre-pregnant weight but need to step it up! I'm still nursing so I want to take full advantage of those calories burned while I can. Down 5 pounds since February and this trip is going to be just the motivation that I need! Good luck to all!

I was very bad today..had a 12 inch cheese pizza for lunch...looks like it will be apples and granola for the rest of the day. :guilty:

Well I've finaly lost another pound. Brings to a total of 18 gone. I'm off to visit family for a week so I am hopeing I can eat somewhat healthy and get a few workouts in.

Im new here, my family is sailing 5/18/2013 and I wish to lose 100lbs before we leave on 5/09/2013 I started about 2 wks ago and have lost 12lbs, I have done this before and realize that I will need to work harder soon, it's not just eating right! I hope to keep up with the boards and support all of you!

I haven't checked in for a few weeks, but I'm happy to say I've continued to lose between 0.5 and 1 pound each week. I'm trying to ramp it up now as I've got just under 4 months until our cruise! My goals this week are to drink at least 48 oz. of water each day, exercise on my elliptical 5 days and to NOT drink any alcohol. (I was having Miller Lites too many nights last week due to stress at work, but how much more movement could I have seen on the scale had I not?)

Good luck all! :thumbsup2

I will join you. In high school I weighed 265 and lost 130 (eating right and DAILY exercise) and was able to keep it off for years, until I had several very hard deaths in the family and gained 50 back. Before I got pregnant I was almost back down to my goal weight of 140 but..heh...pregnancy kind of derails weight-loss plans. I'm having the baby in August and would like to lose most of it by the time we cruise in May of 2013. What a great way to get support.

I've been doing the elliptical for exercise - I have one in my basement - but it's getting boring, so yesterday I started walking. I live in MA, so it's not really warm here yet, but being outside was great. My plan is to walk around the track at my kids' school on Tuesdays and Thursdays while my DD14 has soccer practice. Last night I walked 2 miles and made sure to stretch really well afterwards. My DS11 walked with me (well, he walked/ran so we weren't together much) and he wants to come along with me from now on. This made me happy - - - my kids and I are working on getting healthy together! I even mentioned the Castaway Cay 5K, and we might try to do that when we cruise in July.

As I mentioned I'm visiting my mom this week and have not been eating well. Just talked to my DH and he told me his brother is getting married in San Diego a few weeks before our cruise! So now I have extra reasons to lose weight, I used to live in San Diego and will be seeing old friends! Now I HAVE to lose it!

Congratulations to everyone on their successes and setting their goals.

I have been off line for a couple weeks because I was enjoying the maiden voyage of the Fantasy. It was fantastic. I exercised daily. Ate only two Mickey bars, and gained 2 lbs. which I lost within 3 days of being home. It was probably all from alcohol. Now my next challenge - 35 lbs. by Nov. 25 when we sail the Dream. I see that someone else is on the same cruise.
