LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

Over the years I've tried WW, Atkins, liquid diets, OTC diet pills... Everything works for a few weeks. Then it's over.

About a month ago I re-started Jenny Craig and water, water, water. I have yet to start really exercising. I figure when I hit my first plateau it will be time to add that in. So far... I've lost... (drum roll please)... 16 pounds. I would like to lose at least 50 more. This cruise is the best motivation I've ever had.

:woohoo:

Hi, everyone, so happy to see this thread!

I'm Carmen and in December our little family is going to be sailing on the Magic in the caribbean sea. I'm so excited! Unfortunately I'm hopelessly out of shape and am hoping I can slim down at least a little bit before our cruise.

The challenge is that our cruise is only 3.5 months away. I'd LOVE to lose 30 pounds in that time, but that's probably not feasible for me.

So I'm going to shoot for 20lbs lost in the next three months. That is very doable for me, and in fact, I've done it before. If I lose a little more than 20, that's great! But 20 is going to be my goal.

My method (and the one I know works for me) is going to be calorie counting and tracking everything I eat. I'm going to try to stick to around 1300 during the week, and 1600 on weekends. Lots of water, and I'm considering starting couch to 5k as well. We'll see!

I am soo excited you started this forum! I have 451 days until my 1st cruise ever, I am WW lost 18.8 lbs so far. Want to lose 100 lbs before the cruise. Following the ww pts system and exercising. Trying to be as healthy as possible to keep off the weight and enjoy life!

This is my first time posting to this thread, and trying (actively) to lose weight. My husband and I just joined a new gym in town and we are splurging on a personal trainer 1 session per month for each of us. I'm hoping to lose 25 pounds. We just got off the Dream two weeks ago, and our next cruise is on the Fantasy in February 2013. Should give me plenty of time to lose that amount. :thumbsup2 However, I'm shooting for this March to have it lost by.

:cheer2:

Way to get started! You will love your Disney cruise! I'm also trying to lose ALOT before my next cruise which is more than a year away. I'm not crazy about posting too many details for the world to see, but would love to have make a few friends on this journey. Please feel free to send me a private message if you are interested in teaming up for mutual weight loss support!

Hello everyone-
New to this thread. I started WW @ 5 weeks ago, I am down 8 lbs. Slow and steady wins the race... right? I have @100 more to go but this is a start :)
We have another MR booked for January so I'm hoping to ditch my tent-like clothes and wear something cute for a change. Ultimately though I would like to be in FABULOUS shape for our adult-only trip on the Allure in September 2012. The heat in the Caribbean will be far more appealing and tolerable if I can wear a bathing suit with out embarrassment!

Thumbs up to you for booking ahead and having something to look forward to. Oh, I do hope your success has continued...I'm in your boat with LOTS to lose and a year+ to do it! I'm envious--MR was fabulous and the price was right too--wish I could go again. How was the Allure?

Hello everyone!!!! I'm in the same boat and need a lot of help!!!! The thing is I need to loose about 60 pounds and I'm clueless how to do it. The problem is that I have hypothyroidism and have gain a lot of weight. I don't like to go out bc I feel so ashamed.

Anyway... can someone tell me a diet or a healthy way to loose weight. Please, please please help!!!!!!

BTW I'm from Puerto Rico. Gracias!!!!

Only a month and 2 days to go before we leave for 4 days in the parks and 4 on the Dream, and I just ordered a new swimsuit. My thing is conditioning. I just want to be in good form to not be tired after a morning in the parks. But I have a serious motivation problem... I have not exercised properly in over a year! So even though I'm not heavy, I am REALLY out of shape and tire easily. Mickey is going to kick my hiney if I don't spend this month being active. SO. I hereby pledge to spend ONE HOUR a day running/walking/swimming/skating/biking or at least jumping up and down for the shear fact that I will be on the Dream in 37 days!! First workout is tonight! :yay:
Good luck to all of us, eh?
And here's to grilled chicken for dinner... I will enjoy it knowing that on the boat I will have all the dessert and buttery EVERYTHING I could possibly want!

So glad to have some buddies on this mission!

I am happy to report that I am a little over one month into joining a gym and I have lost 6 pounds! :yay:

Hey, everyone!

Congrats to everyone on the successes! I joined Weight Watchers in mid-December because I am tired of carrying around an extra 50+ pounds all the time. I also have a few more motivating reasons:

  • My DD graduates from high school in June and I don't want any more "fat" pictures with her for the scrapbook!
  • We are sailing on the Fantasy MV and I want to go on the Aquaduck and not feel like a whale!
  • In August we sail to Alaska on the Wonder with friends I haven't seen in 4 years. I do not want them to see me like this!
  • With my last DD going off to college in the fall I am going to "reinvent" myself and come up with a new career path (I was a SAHM homeschooling mom for their whole lives) and it will be easier to get a good job if I look good.
So with all that to keep me going, I've stayed motivated for coming up on 4 weeks. By my 3rd week's weigh-in I had lost 5 pounds and I've had a good week so I'm really hoping for at least one more by tomorrow's weigh-in!

Great news! Weighed in this morning and was down another 1.6 pounds for a total of 6.6 since I started on December 9. I'm so excited! I think I'll make my 10% goal before my cruise after all!

Hi mlc1985! Which cruise are you sailing on in April? I am working on both those areas, too, for our April cruise! We're on the maiden voyage to Hawaii sailing April 29th. Let's be each other's motivation! I see the best results for myself when I mix cardio and weights. For instance, I'll do a circuit of 12 reps of alternating forward lunges, dumbbell biceps curls into a shoulder press and sit-ups. The last exercise of the set will be jump rope for 1 minute. Then, I'll repeat that set (including the jump roping) 3 times before going onto a different set of exercises (with a cardio burst).

hi DCLDiva!
im going to the bahamas april 30 and supper excited for it! I don't have any weighs here and no gym membership, but I have walking dvds & have been doing squats & side bends. i do have a stretching band that came with a dvd! There are also a couple work out sets I saw @ WWm and may get one of them!

We sail on April 14th and I'm looking to loose a few and tone up. Not sure what all I'm going to do, but I've given up riding the golf cart to the front pasture to deal with my horses. The round trip walk is just under a mile, and is hilly! So I end up with almost 2 miles walked each time I ride. I'm thinking of getting either a "Just Dance" game or one of the Zumba games...any thoughts?

Hey, all! I forgot to come here and post after last Friday's weigh-in, but I was down another .8 for a total loss of 7.4! I'm so pleased with my progress. Not fast, just steady!:yay:

Wow, two posts in a row for me! Weighed in this morning and was down another 2.4 for a total of 9.8 since December 9. AND exceeded my AP goal for the week. Total of 23 APs. Feeling really good and I'm down a full size in clothing. SO GLAD to be doing something good for myself this year!!!

:thumbsup2Way to go! I think I'm pacing you...a little behind. I've lost 8.6 lbs since early December. Doesn't it feel great?! I am almost down a dress size. I'm sort of in the in between zone. Another pound or two and I'll be there for sure. I'm also starting to notice better tone which makes me feel like all my hard work is paying off even if I only see a little difference on the scale each week.

Hi everyone .. just found this site and would love some encouragement ... I'm sailing on April 29, and started Weight Watchers last week. Lost 4.4 pounds in the first week. Although I have a lot more to lose, my goal is to be down 25 pounds before I cruise. I hope to be booking a 2013 cruise tomorrow and would like to be down at least another 50 pounds before that. At a pound a week, its doable I hope ... just have to stick to the program this time :worship:

Hi All, can I join in please? I have lots to lose....82 pounds and I would like to lose this before my EBTA in May 2013 :-)

I previously lost 36 pounds last year but have put it all back in the last couple of months :-( silly me!!
