LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

Hi everyone :goodvibes

I think I'll be joining in as well. :thumbsup2 I sail in about 4 months and I would love to lose at least 25 lbs by then. 50 would be nice, but I'll be realistic.

This is not a new years resolution thing. I joined a gym a few months ago and go 3-4 times a week. I am not losing crazy amounts of weight, but I can see a few inches have gone. I need to watch the diet a *lot* more if I want this weight to go and I know that

Is anyone here doing Zumba? I LOVE it! It's so much fun and I actually look forward to working out now

Count me in too!! I'm losing for our WDW trip in 2011 and our cruises in 2012. So I have no excuse not to lose it (and keep it off, lol)Time is definitely on my side! I need to lose 35lbs--I'm also a member of Team Mickey over on the WISH board so with all this DIS help I know I can do it!!!

I am now at 2.2 lbs down! I know it isn't a lot, but it is better than gaining! I may be able to met my 10lb goal...cruise in 28 days!

Hey everybody! I am simbamom's sister and our families are cruising together at the end of this month. I have quite a bit to lose. Started 7 days ago and have lost 5 pounds. Hoping to lose 20 by our cruise. We shall see! :yay:

Ok...lost .2
Total=2.4

slowly but surely

Just got a smart phone on N.Years Eve-love the app for keeping track of calories. This has help a lot!::yes::

Reporting to help myself until I'm more settled: Did better today than yesterday with keeping healthy diet.
Went grocery shopping today and bought 2 more fruits/vegetables than usual for daily diet: Banana or peaches with Bfasts; Pepper, cucumber and carrot for lunches; kale for breaks; variety for diner; oranges and grapefruit late night. Somewhat daily. It should help. And knowing myself, I should be able to do it once it's integrated.
Went figure skating for 2 hours tonight. Worked on Senior Silver Dances.

Lost .8 this am. Total=3.2! Atleast 6.8 to go -26 days till we set sail! It is going to be tough. Love my app and posting on Disboards...keeping me focused. I tried on dresses yesterday - not too fun!

Does anyone use Shape-Ups, Tone-Ups, or any other "toning" shoe? I am thinking of getting some (I walk, I do not run!), and wonder if they are worth it. I am also looking at New Balance's version, "True Balance."

I just started WW w/ a co-worker, online only, life is too hectic for meetings. I had success before but got too busy and it was pre-online system.

Hoping to lose around 30 by November, also excercisng 5/6 times a week at least 20 minutes!

I wear Reebok EasyTone sneakers religously, and Sketcher Tone up Sandals also..can I say i've seen results...no, but then again, that was casual use, however they have been some of the most comfortable shoes I have owned, period..for that it was worth the $$$. I will let you know as my EasyTones are my workout shoes it I notice anything!

Wish me luck!

MOFFBOYZ2 and I are working hard at this! I am now down 3.6-lost another .4 this am. Now to get another 6.4 lbs off in the next 24 days!

all three of us trying to lose before our 3/13 cruise...quit smoking this summer and just sort of crept up a bit...time to get back on track...

I'm a little late to the party but I am excited to share my eating plan and results. My goal was to lose enough weight so that my formal dresses would fit (they were purchased before having children) and I am thrilled to say that I have lost almost 20 pounds and it's like having a new wardrobe:banana: I despise working out, so this was accomplished mostly by cutting out sugar (nothing can be more than 9gms per serving). The hardest thing has been cutting back on the lattes, who knew milk has so much sugar? Also, eating lots of poached eggs, oatmeal, lean meats and veggies. It's through an online program run by Jackie Warner and I am proof that it really works! I'm not so sure I can maintain it on the cruise though :lmao: That Palo souffle and creme brûlée are already calling to me!

Hi Stinkerbe11!

Now I am down 3.8 (total 5.8). SLOWLY melting away! I am proud about my choices and keeping track!

GOOD LUCK everyone and stay strong...your cruise will be here before you know it.

What a great thread! I am sailing on the Dream this summer and I would love to lose 20lbs. I hit my mid 40's and 10 lbs a year added on. I bought a tread mill in November and I have been walking and running on it for about a month. I see my clothes fitting differently, but the darn scale isn't moving.:confused3 I am a terrible junk food and carb addict. It will be nice to have encouragement to clean up my diet:thumbsup2

Hey everyone. I could really use some encouragement right now :sad2:

I fell on some ice on my way to work and landed right on my kneecap. I've been told no Zumba or gym for AT LEAST a week - probably 2. It's so hard to get back into the groove once you're out of it for a bit. All I have been doing is laying on my couch eating junk food.

Ugh.

I hate winter. It makes me want to be lazy :guilty:

Good luck with that knee...sorry you fell. I hate ice and winter. It makes me feel lazy , too.

I as proud of myself last night. My DH wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant...I ate about a third of what I would normally eat. I drank a ton of water so it filled me up faster and I felt stuffed when I left.

I lost another .8!!!!! So now my total is 4.6 (+ 2.0 before I joined here) =6.6!!!

If you really want to see results guys, cut out the sugar-seriously. It's truly an addiction and the first week is tough (think serious withdrawal) but after that your blood sugar stabilizes and you don't crave it anymore. This is really hard because the foods I love (bread, pasta, desserts...) can only be eaten occasionally but the results are amazing! I worked my behind off at the gym and never got results but as soon as I started eating proteins, veggies and whole wheat, I saw an amazing change. If anyone is interested in this eating plan I can post what I am eating every day and I promise if you stick with it, you will absolutely lose weight!
