The "going dark" though, doesn't explain why his name doesn't pop up in the search drop down, there's no avatar, and there's no PM link for him though. I would expect all of those to be available, even if he hasn't posted in two weeks.

On another message board that is an indication of a person being banned from the site. At least the unclickable name and "guest" tag.

Long time Lurker. On the Dis they disappear from the drop down if banned. Captain America (not the 2003 one) and Mrrodgers (may be misspelled) are examples. But dont have name changes.

IMO, not necessarily to protect the sensitive here (whomever they may be) but rather to preserve the essence of the disboards which goes back over 25 years. while giving the opportunity to also discuss more controversial topics if desired by those who might like to do so.
