Looks like we're poised for a happier, friendlier New Year.

Congratulations Kevin and John on the move. That's quite an increase in space.

I know its tough to throw things away, but after a while you realize you really didn't need to keep it. Having less around really makes life so much more simple.

I'd help you move, but I'm alergic to boxes. ;)

Absolutely true!

Wow.

The New Year seems like a breathe of fresh air.

A little post-Christmas house cleaning is a great thing.

It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow......

As Kevin and I get ready for a possible (hopeful) move into a new house I get a weird sense of relief whenever I toss out some trash. It feels good to purge old, ugly unwanted things.

And who knows - maybe we'll uncover some cool stuff for the prizematron next year :cool1:

You know this already, but I thought I'd say it again. I am just so happy for all three of you!!!

Sometimes, throwing stuff out brings peace and balance to a person's life.

I couldn't agree with you more. I actually threw out quite a bit of stuff from my memory boxes when moving. These were things from my ex and I, etc. It feels so much better.

100% true! :thumbsup2

All three of us.:scared1:

Just kidding. We've talked this through and there is room for everyone.

What color is my room going to be? :)

Okay, I'll probably regret this, but if I don't ask, how will I ever learn? What are U shaped shelves and why are they so exciting?

Instead of being just one straight shelf....they wrap around three walls and they are 5 high.

I will no longer have to take everything out of the cabinet to get to the stuff in back.

The kitchen in my new house has special cabinetry, but not the U-shaped pantry. I was very excited when I discovered a little mini-cabinet right in front of the sink where you put your sponge. I also have sliding drawers for pots and pans!! Very exciting and dorky at the same time. lol

We just moved my son into his new home. He has a pantry room to die for. His front walk in closet is big enough to be an office. There is also cable in the closet. I have lots of shelves in my garage but could always use more.

Aaron, I think I am allergic to boxes now. :)

Hmm....

Do you have anyone in mind?;)

No more using the dining room as storage.:thumbsup2

I got an Annual Pass for my birthday... just sayin :confused3 I hope to make it down a few times. ;)

I guess I could always bunk with Nikki at Motel 6 :laughing:

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that does sound nice. Even better than Uba Tuba!
I hate looking for stuff in the back of the pantry closet.

When I moved 3 years ago I got rid of SO much stuff. Haven't missed any of it, but I do have several boxes stored that I haven't even opened since I moved, I know I should get rid of that stuff, but just haven't been able to yet. I'm afraid if I open the boxes the stuff will move into the house.

Congrats on the new house, Kevin and John. There's nothing dorky about a big pantry or closet. Kevin, your mom is lucky to have you two!

When we moved we ordered a dumpster that sat in our driveway, it was awesome to just walk outside and pitch things. My dh says we need to pretend like we're moving again! :)

Congrats on the new house John & Kevin! And I agree, next year will be happier! There are many things I'd like to leave in 2010, and not have them crop up in 2011!

Here's hoping I try and organise at least myself to be in London at the same time as you, if at all plausable.

:)

Thanks for the congrats Nicole and thanks for the advice.

I am actually really bad about throwing stuff away - not quite 'hoarders bad' but still have a tough time parting with stuff. Moving tends to force you to look at what you need and what's really important.

Happy New Year!!

Didn't do that for my last move, but then it was a job relocation that employer funded. The way I figure, I have a 30 year mortgage why rush to unpack those boxes :)

Sounds like guys will have a wonderful new place with lots of space. Congrats! Hope closing goes smoothly.

:rotfl2:

900sq feet to 3100 sq feet...

Our numbers rise from two to three....

And I get a walk in pantry with 5 U shaped shelves.

I know how geeky this sounds....but I dont care.:thumbsup2

The new pantry sounds awesome. And the size of the new place sounds great too. Will you be doing the kitchen over like the old house? Have a great time with the new place.

We wont be re-decorating right away.

There are some other, more necessary changes to be made first.

and thank you!

We're cleaning out our garage as well, (much needed - as some boxes were literally 'stacked to the ceiling' ! :scared1: ) and it IS an odd and wonderful feeling of liberation and release.

There was an unexpected moment of depression, though...

I unearthed a box of old clothes I hadn't seen since my high school/college days and I was *stunned* how small they looked !

I remember being SO paranoid that I was WAY too fat all through High School, and now I'm looking at these old shirts and these old jeans I couldn't pull up past my knees and I'm wondering: WHAT was I so obsessed with back then ? I'd give *anything* to fit into these clothes, now !

*sigh*

Life is full of twists and turns.

....and rolls and bulges....
