Stay safe. I have 18 family members coming up to my home tomorrow and Thursday.

Okay, latest update. Time to take a break. *pant pant* LOL!

We're planning to get out of town tomorrow morning. We have the boards up on our house (we can only do the bottom floor -- does anyone know if that "myth" about taping windows is true? Should we tape the second floor windows we can reach from the inside?), my best friends have a good sized cage that we're able to use to take the kitties, and between DH's CRV, my mom's Explorer, and her normal car, we have decent cargo space.

We have a plan that covers up to a month or two if need be. Right now, we're heading to Fredricksburg and have ressies there through Monday, and one of my mom's close friends lives just a few miles from Fredricksburg (part of the reason for Fredricksburg) and can help us if we get stuck there.

If it's going to take more than beyond Monday before we can get back, we're planning to head to my Uncle's in NM for a few days.

If it'll take much longer than that, we may go all the way up to my grandparents in northern NM to stay for an extended period, we may stay with my uncle.

I honestly expect that if the hurricane stays cat4+ by the time it hits, we won't be able to get back for about a month.

I will have very, very limited internet access after tonight, but I've asked a friend to come on here and keep y'all posted for me if I can't.

Oddly enough, I have a good feeling about all of this. We'll be okay. We may have to rebuild, but the most important stuff is going to be okay.

My last check-in for an unknown amount of time. We've almost got everything packed that we can pack, and we're about to head out to help my mom finish getting her house prepped then we're outta here.

IF Rita stays on its current course, I don't anticipate too much in the way of wind damage for us (unless a tornado hits), it's flooding that will probably be the biggest danger. So I'm still crossing my fingers and saying my prayers for a house and home to return to.
