Lookout Cay long pier.

No need to attack me. I don't have a dog in this fight as I never plan on going to LC anyway. I just made a simple comment. I think a lot of people just need to relax a little bit. If you don't want to go to LC then don't go to LC. If you want to stay on the boat then stay on the boat. If you want to get off the boat then get off the boat. People are getting way too out of shape or what other people want to do or don't want to do. Take it easy.
I do not know who you think was attacking you. I replied to your comment that many of us booked trips to LC thinking we would get an experience closer to CC and without things like flies and long piers and without knowing that they would not have things geared towards to 11-17 set like on CC only to find out we were mistaken and are now beyond the cancellation window.

Honest question (and I'm not trying to be snarky or mean here, I'm really curious): What are people who are upset about LC expecting to happen now? Disney never claimed that LC would be a similar experience to CC; in fact, it was always described as something different. The flies were gross and unacceptable, but that problem is under control now. Yes the pier is long, but they have golf cart transportation for people who cannot walk it, and it sounds like that's going smoother now. When you willingly book the unknown (i.e. a new port that nobody's been to before), there's an inherent risk that you may not like certain aspects of it. So what would make people happy at this point? What's the solution?

I don't think they need to do anything. The majority of people probably enjoy it.

It would be nice to have enough beach chairs on the beach for everyone. :beach:

I don't want to have to race the length of the pier and then arm wrestle someone  or have to pay triple the cruise price for a suite just to get one. I don't think that's a lot to ask for when visiting a beach. I will give it a chance and see how it goes. Our first visit in November will be on the Magic, 2400 max and they won't all want a chair on the beach of course. In spring, we'll be back on the Dream which means 4000, close to double the amount of people. I don't have high hopes for that visit but we'll see. It would have to really suck for me to skip a beach day.

For myself- More chairs actually on the beach, more golf carts so it’s easier getting back when exhausted at the end of the day, shade structures, and starting construction on a space for the teens (or at least a space like In Da Shade).

Are people really having to fight for chairs on the beach? I know some people prefer to be in more secluded areas, so are a lot of people who want close-to-the-water chairs not able to get them? I also heard that they'd added more golf carts: are people who need this transportation still not able to get a cart in a timely manner? I'll be there in a couple of weeks, so I'll be able to check it out for myself, but I'm just trying to gauge how bad these things really are.

a space like In Da Shade
Genuinely curious here: we went to CC 15 times with our kids before they waved off cruising (insert dad eyeroll here). They never showed any interest in the in Da Shade. Granted, my kids are extremely introverted, but I'm curious if other people with teens showed interest here. When I was a teen, I'd have been on that like white on rice, but nowadays, kids are a bit different. I, for example, survived drinking gallons and gallons of water from the hose in the backyard.

I was going to ask the same question. My kids made friends with other teens on a couple of our past cruises, and while they spent a lot of time in the teen club onboard, they never went to The Hideout (the teen club on CC). Instead, the kids they'd become friends with onboard just floated around together, hung out under someone's umbrella and talked, etc.

This was our exact experience too. One my daughters is very social, the clubs were the highlight of DCL for her, but when we went to the beach, she didn't even consider going to a club. I don't know what it is like on DCL, but I think most teens would prefer being down on the beach playing in the water and the like. One of the times the teens met up for a bit on Castaway, but not in a club. What do they do in the club on Castaway?

I think there are sports and hammocks available, and a little place to sit and talk.

How long did you wait for a golf cart to get back to the ship at the end of the day?

My kids would hang out there. The have scheduled activities on the island for the Edge kids. Eating lunch and In da shade were part of it.

They used to have a 50 dollar excursion for the Vibe kids that included a motorboat ride, bikes, snorkeling and lunch together. My son loved it, but I don't think they brought it back since Covid. My son has aged out so I'm not positive on that. For the 18-20 group they have a group bike ride and bikes are free.

Where every other person these days is using an ECV?
Using an ECV doesn't always have to do with whether or not one is "fit."

I used an ECV for the first time in 2022 because for some inexplicable reason, I was having trouble walking long distances. A trip to the chiropractor and I found out I had at some point in my life broken my back and that the job I was doing had done further damage.

My health goal with my chiropractor is to never again need an ECV at Disney.

But I'm sure people looked at me and figured it was being overweight that was the issue.

Our youngest LOVED In Da Shade from ages 9-12. We’d play ping pong, Connect 4 and he’d show me all the hidden Mickeys.
Our older son had no interest but he did enjoy the teen excursion that had 3 parts to it: kayaking, snorkeling and beach time. Or something like that.

I can’t recall where exactly I read it, somewhere on the Disboards, that there are relatively very few chairs on the beach.

Just got back from Magic cruise on July 20. We saw ZERO flies during lunch. Also no fights or mad scambles for chairs by the water. We were off the ship around 8:30(we all wake up early, even on vacation) I have a bad knee and the pier walk wasn't as difficult for me as I had thought it might be. I probably could have gotten on one of the many golf carts, but didn't want to. I wasn't paying attention to the time when we got to the beach, probably a little before 9am. There were still chairs around us for a good 30-45 mins. We had front row chairs by the water. People who waited until 10:30 to get there probably couldn't get them where we were. There were a lot more chairs by the water than what it looked like in the early vlogs I saw. The sand is so incredibly soft and the water was wonderful. My teen didn't miss not having a teen club or tubes/floats like she thought pre-cruise. We didn't go to other areas like the Splash pad. The beach was so nice I didn't want to leave. We've been to CC 8 times and love it, I prefer LP over CC. Before the cruise I didn't think I would even like it, now I can't wait to go back.

The beautiful beach is definitely what looks to me to be highlight of this island. Glad you had a good time, and glad to hear the flies are being handled!
