Lookout Cay long pier.

I don't think most of these arguments have much weight. I honestly think that Disney believes that the up and coming generation of traveler will appreciate them being more environmentally conscious in this case. The low key decorations and themes go along with that.

It isn't that there isn't a tram or a better pier because they are trying to be cheap, or bowing to governmental pressures. There isn't a tram because that is what their marketing research showed would be a selling point. People who would like a nicer way to reach the shore (this does not include individuals that will need assistance, we have already proven that is already in place) are not being left out because of monetary issues, they are being left behind by the march of time and the new attitudes of upcoming customers.
There is not bit of evidence provided to back up anything you have said here all while telling other people that other arguments don’t hold weight.

On the main Facebook group for Disney Cruise line people are reporting that a lot of people are staying on the ship at Lookout Cay day.

Which is worse than people complaining about people complaining about people complaining? This topic is contentious enough. Opinions are opinions.
That was my point about what a forum is. People expressing their views on a subject. Could be positive or could be negative but you don't have to attack that person.

What about a 2nd pedestrian deck on top of the existing pier. The tram and vehicles could use the bottom deck and since it would pedestrian top deck only it could be light weight.

I defer to the structural, marine, and civil engineers, but the mere thought of stacking an Upper Wacker Drive on top of the pier makes me shiver in fear for catastrophic failure. I know for ships, (which I used to operate and now build) that too much weight up high makes them prone to rolling over. That's bad. In a hurricane, having that much weight up high gives me the shivers

That's why it would have to be a light weight structure for pedestrian use only. Ten foot height at most to keep most of the dead load on the cement base of the pier. Just an idea.
